Hi Everyone, I have just been out in western Queensland studying the endangered Acacia species Acacia puece. This is an amazing tree that is restricted to only three sites in Australia (2 in Qld and 1 in NT). It is famous for its extremely hard wood and used to be used at fencing posts as it lasts forever. It is a bit of a mystery as to why it is so rare as it is a very hardy tree living very close to the desert. I have collected some seeds and they are very viable with about a 60-80% germination rate. If anyone would like one of these very rare trees in there collection please pm me and I'll post you some seeds. The trees live for about 150yrs in there natural setting and are slow growing. P.s The trees are producing large numbers of seeds so by removing these seeds from the system it is not a threat to there survival. (which is part of the mystery)

Free Waddi tree seeds (Acacia peuce)
Freaky Chicken replied to Freaky Chicken's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
I'll see if I can track down some seeds. These seeds need to be planted straight into the ground where the tree is wanted. They have amazing deep roots to get to the water table quickly(seedlings can have roots 2m long when the plant is very small). Very slow growing in native range but has to deal with very harse conditions. -
I wish I could make it but the trip from Geraldton is just a bit far. Have fun peeps!
-
I should be able to make it down on the 3rd.
-
What if we have it on the Sat? That way we could run into the night.
-
We could have the meet at my mates place in Baldivis. It has a big open yard and a sweet sound system! September sounds good! 15th would be the third Sunday.
-
Looks like the meets have died of for winter but I was thinking we should plan a spring meet. Either next month (September) or October I don't live in Perth anymore but I do enjoy the meets and I would come down for a meet. With a bit of planning we should be able to make it massive! What do people think?

Giant sunflower seed giveaway, 3 packs
Freaky Chicken replied to gtarman's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
Just a heads up for anyone looking at importing sunflower seeds into Australia. They are a prohibited import and you can get into trouble. That being said if anyone has seeds at the end of the season I would be keen. If any of your plants show disease I would hope that you dispose of them appropriately. -
Have to move and have an inherited small collection of assorted cactus. Would much rather pass them on to a good home, so it would be pick-up-only. Anyone interested?
