I was amused as locals paid fortunes for Goji juice when Chinese Wolf berries are quite cheap.really. Similarly there are many Australian materials the exact equivalent of expensive Asian sourced material. Case in point are cordyceps:- found here too - worth gold. Their medicine has survived 5000 years - some of those under incredible oppression - and yet it survived. They've long learnt how to disguise the really important herbs that are truly indispensable and continue. You lucky young folk can take your iPads into Asian grocery stores these days, go to the 'soup' section, and look up all those yummy dried soup mixes on the internet to find out what they are for. What they cure. "Let food be your medicine" - old wisdom and much cheaper! You'll be surprised what goes in the pot, quite commonly, when you're familiar with the lingo. They are very good too! No BigPharm profiteering here! The greatest medical system ever developed was that of the barefoot doctors known as the 赤脚医生 - we could really, really learn from that education, training, etc. system!

    SE QLD private plant detective

There's a rather unique Argyreia spp - native I guess - on Burleigh Heads I noted while doing geological/biologica/physical survey of area for Uni. '83 (by sextant, map, compass, troglodyte, and a load of other stuff you don't need now!) Glory Be! NOW i can give you gps - for gmap and you can see it yourself! (Saves my old legs the walk!) Best of luck! Haven't worn shoes myself for 10 years (except at Wandjina Gardens when Pommy Paul insisted I put them on around the cactii - "I can walk across fire!" - I protested - he wouldn't listen...) Your "black soled" mate, Pat. PS - If it is a new Argyreia can I name it Argyreia pissoffpaul?

Ooopps! Apologies to wiki! They got half a dozen parallel versions of the story going, but the one:- gamma-Butyrolactone is, presently, very good, very good indeed

    Toxic party drug melts plastic

Oaky Doaky - GBL GammaButyLactone is BLA gammaButyLActone they just used different letters in the acronym for disinforming the public....bizarrely they wonder why they can do this and we don't trust them? To this day it turns up in nail polish and remover, paint stripper, etc. from overseas shipments much to Customs dismay. 1,4 Butyl-di-ol is another oily solvent that slowly, slowly converts 'in vivo' to the drug GHB - directly irritating your internals as it does giving you colic. This was the "objectionable" solvent in the plastic toys. It was a farce really - it is still widely used especially in whiteboard pen markers. (It's conversion, outside the enzyme systems, isn't practical folks) Now another piece of information exclusive to our forum folks! (Don't bother cross referencing me with Wiki - if you could read it on Wiki I wouldn't have to write it here, would I?) I see "Zen" - West US "drug" rumour getting around in the late 70's - didn't make it to the net. So here it is:- "Zen" was mixing dill leaves and Mono Sodium Glutamate together and smoking it. Dill made notoriety, but minus the MSG. Wouldn't recommend it (but having no medical training doesn't stop Old Pat doing his own brain surgery!) Interestingly we now know GHB is part of Glutamic acid's role in the brain. Theoretically there are pathways, heat induced, for MSG to become GHB and smoking it could well produce some. Something I'll look into this a bit more I feel folks. Ok - you have a good time now! And be beautiful!

    Toxic party drug melts plastic

Much obliged folks! - One client referred to the situation as BLA!BLAH!BLAH! Being new to the forum people are still trying to suss me out, so I feel I must explain my motives behind giving my cattle large amounts of the Date Rape drug. (Even if it was the 80's and I'm a "cowpoke".) As all cityfolk know "farmers""plant""crops", put diesel in "plants" and "graziers" "farm" "cattle". Cattle can make amino acids and proteins from very simple compounds - unlike us - even "urea" from urine can be fed to them and their 4 stomachs make it into beef. With us, it's just a diuretic. Fed sodiumGHB cows convert it to meat - we discovered they made enormous growth increases, GHB stimulated Growth Hormone, they were docile and GHB completely metabolized is largely harmless to beast and consumer. At the time it was a byproduct of the plastics industry, cheap, stockpiled as useless except cattle feed. Good Old Bjelke! I hope that dispels the rumours! Yep GHB another "pharmaceutical software" that only the human brain has the hardware big enough to run the program. Ain't it great, to be an ape! Well made it shouldn't be corrosive. Other pharmaceuticals that are extreme solvents of plastics are "paraldehyde", "chloral hydrate", "ethyl ether" and "chloroform". Less active is common milk. It is an offense to leave milk on public roads - as it will break down the road base! Have lots of fun this sunny weekend, all!

    Toxic party drug melts plastic

Gidday folks! Nothing new about it I'm afraid. They've rehashed the GHB story and changed the letters around to make it look new. Anyone fluent in organic chemistry can see straight though this. BLA - was a speciality solvent we used to use by the tanker load up until 95. BLA - gammaButyrolactone - excellent solvent especially prized for welding perspex together. When you've used it by the 200L drum it looks as palatable as absolute ethanol and other industrial solvents. The internet publicised the use of GHB readily and exothermically (spontaneous Gibbs reaction) made from BLA and mineral hydroxide. We'd known about GHB for sometime - fed it to cows in fact - but the thought of consuming "solvent and caustic" turned our guts. Yeah - BLA would slowly convert to GHB in your irritated guts not stomach- but it would be so slow and painful, you wouldn't get the "Wham!Bam!ThankYouMam!" of readily absorbed gammahydrobutanate ions. Drug delivery systems - ever so important. (Actually the ease of lactones getting hydrolysed at high pH is why I insist on friends not damaging the lactone alkaloids of Sinichuchi with alkali extractions) BLA now a 1st class precursor of "DRUGS!" now commands $1000/L on the black market - bloody cows! If you want it you have to convince some stooge (Greasy "Pete" tee!hee!) they really need it for something and you can order it on their behalf $77/L (gst inc.). They fill out a dozen statutory decs. to police, customs, transport, suppliers. saying they know it can be used for drugs, they'll be watched, their premises is open to inspection any time, they'll be held accountable for every drop etc. Paper work done - it arrives with special things they sign acknowledging their receipt in the chain of custardy. By which time you've got sick of waiting - found a kosher substitute to BLA - and blended up a few tonnes of the client's requirements anyway. In the end it sits in the storeroom gathering dust with all the free commercial samples of BLA the suppliers send you as you contact them for quotes - on the clients behalf, of course. What can I say? Live long enough and everything old becomes new again! May you live long and well friends!

They don't look alike - so how the two cultures developed the same ideas suggests some real long history!!!

    heimia salicifolia preparation

Grand history! It's relation is purple loosestrife. Germanics and Druids gave it that name "loose-strife" literally in its use as an anxiolytic lit. to loosen from 'strife' stress. American tradition got lost with smallpox. "Tradition" - no - recovering a method that works - yes. Fondest Regards to all.

No. The term "ferment" means there are "living" enzymes in the plant that need to work on it for a while. Boiling, or adding chems, would produce the same affect if you boiled, or added chems, to home brew wort AFTER you pitched the yeast in. It would kill the yeast - no reaction. I'm not saying it's yeast on the plant - its the enzymes in the plant. Many herbs need fermentation to cure and develop alkaloid. Along with other factors there may be none until you do! Dried coca leaf anyone?
  11. Those near isomeric essential oils ain't that easy to separate folk - watch out when they say they needed chromatography to do it - though!. It one thing to do it in a test tube, in trace amounts and write a scholarly paper - quite another to "scale" it up. BTW - sarsaparilla Smilax - I use seven species - has no, little, flavour. We add it to root beer for the foam and mouth feel. Sassafras is the only flavour we know as sarsaparilla - the name root beer only caught on at my place. (I make one using Acorus calamus, sars, ginseng, angelica, ague, sass, star anise, liquorice, other herbs and spice, that is worth the name :- 'Pat Uri's 7 Roots Beer'!) Regards.

    Police warn of drug's dangers

Cheers BOP! Much obliged for this jolly joke! What buffoons! AOSD will be busy eradicating the production of psychedelic tryptamines in W.A.! Indeed what to do when they discover their very flesh contains traces of DMT? (There is no minimum for possession - the merest trace will do! - tremble oh! yee canetoads! you're next!) Why is drug law made up by the people who know the least about it? - Would you give the decisions to someone, not only ignorant and naive to their subject, but in fact PROUD they've had no experience of it, don't associate with anyone who has, ever, and do not expect - even avoid - any direct contact with the matter? Would you hire a contractor who has "never touched cement powder in his life - nor would employ anybody who would - and doesn't even listen to anyone who has" to lay concrete for you? Yet this is the qualification we set on lawmakers of Drug Policy... If in forum I am remembered for one quote it will be:- "It is completely immoral to give others, what you have not thoroughly tested on yourself" I, amongst all, can make that claim. And I feel, on this site, I am amongst noble peers who feel that morality too! When will they learn that "war on drugs" is war against your own children, family, workmates - your own people i.e. it is government declared civil war? (Now to really piss off the narcs, the mancatchers, the traps, the filth, etc. who read our democratic egalitarian forum with evil intent in their heart. Those paid to "visit", seek to prosper from our humility, not for spiritual truth:-) Honni soit qui mal y pense My dear readers, "The Powers That Be" are mighty pleased with rape of social justice and declare that "97% of covert, intelligence and surveillance operations against illicit drugs result in a successful outcome" The police claim that 20% of crimes committed go unreported - how the fuck would they know? Having the WA Police tell me about Tryp-I-H-L-&-K is like when Catholic Priests tried to teach 17yr old Pat Uri "sex education"! Put it this way - I tried real hard, and they really learnt a lot!

    Origin of the Peace Pipe

Gidday there good folks! Loved the "origin of the peace pipe" there Synchromesh - I hadn't heard that variation before!
  14. Gidday Hava! I've been looking for that book! Could you do us all a great big favour and really cap off your fine work above? Later on in the same book, if I remember (not real likely!), they mention with the imported "weed" type plants - one man's weed is another's sacred herb - Sida cordifolia & Sida rhombfolia "Felt Weed" and (sarcastically) "Queensland Hemp" introduced from India. They state there although Sida comprises the medicine Bala in India, Australian strains have only trace amounts of alkaloids - if any! Could you please find this and quote this section along with its reference. There's a few people I want to show this - so they get their hands on proper Bala - medical grade Indian sourced if poss. Forum friends interested in the Australian material Check out http://keyserver.lucidcentral.org/weeds/data/03030800-0b07-490a-8d04-605030c0f01/media/Html/Sida_cordifolia.htm Important info there for our WA ethnobots - reckon NT would pay us to harvest it? As I said - thank you terribly! And keep up the excellent work!

    heimia salicifolia preparation

Gidday there folks! It took me ten years to learn to grow the stuff! Made some great contacts - they explained:- yeah! it grows in deserts, but along watercourses! Now it companions my Acorus around the Water lily pond and I got the glorious Sinicuichi - Little Daughter of the Sun! Here's East Mexican story of it - very beautiful:- THE LEGEND OF THE SINICUICHI The Great Father Sun God, after man's Creation saw that His special children were left to a miserable existence struggling in the darkness that existed then. Only darkness existed then because the Great Father Sun lived with His Wife Mother Earth Goddess and all the Ancestor spirits. Even knowing the terrible agony of it, the Great Father Sun God knew He had to tear away from the Earth, the Moon, the Spirits, even Mankind, and carry the burning orb of the Sun up and across the sky every day. He would feel the agony of His godflesh searing, the effort of His labor exhausting His Omnipotence daily - doing so for His children, mankind, to enjoy the miracle of day. (Sozz to break the spell but Aztec concept of a God who would sacrifice Themselves for His Children could have made them pre-accepting of certain Spanish Catholic doctrine. At the time of the story their gratitude to Huimtol was in human hearts, His Divine Thirst slaked with blood - not with humility for everyday we enjoy this lovely life!) And so on the First Day of Creation the Father Sun God gave farewell forever to His most fertile Wife, other Spirit rellies, climbed the last lonely mountain to push up the Sky and let Man stand. As He pushed off and His Flesh caught Fire His suffering was unimaginable. But light streamed from Him and life was given to all things. His Great Sacrifice not in vane - for the Spirits took their positions and Creation Beheld His Glory - the Turquoise Field of the Sky Spirits. His Sweat gold. The tears of His wife, the Faithful Abandoned Earth, turned to silver. His children, the Aztec, forever in daily debt. But - to His Shame - the pain was so great He cried one single tear. As He left that tiny drop of His Sacred Fluid fertilized, for the last time, the Goddess Mother Earth instantly giving birth to the last little girl daughter of Creation. As the Divine Couple's last she would have great place, but her cute chubby baby face flower smiling up at her Father eased His suffering greatly. Even though He had to go through the same suffering the next morning, He knew He would see the gorgeous face of His newest darling daughter - the Sinicuichi - again encouraging him - opening her yellow happy face for Him. Now you tell me one daughter's father who would not be touched by that story! It's gorgeous isn't it? I shall do some artwork on that theme for a plant pot label you can print off and attach to gifts for Father's Day. "Sini" means "of the Sun" - "Cui-chee" is a affectionate pet name for any cute little kid. Compare it to "koo-chee" as in The Mighty Diamonds song "Pass the Koutchie to the Left Hand Side" (NOT that mutilation cover of the song "Pass the Dutchie")(OK pedants:-Tonatiuh (Sini) yxiuh - the prefex 'y' is feminine) So Sinicuichi - Cute Little Daughter of the Sun. Big motif in their artwork - nurseries, etc. "happy face" generally. WHAT DO YA DO WITH IT It's use was mostly amongst the teenage boys who (modern day parents will marvel at this wisdom) were taken off their mothers and banded together around puberty and raised, at distance, from the women and civilised society in general until manhood - real manhood, that is (all traces of childish macho ego purged out "ritually"). Under adult supervision they climbed, dived, chased game, checked traps, etc. and graduated to "scout" bands of ambitious, quarreling juveniles given "important missions" as far away as possible, survival of the fittest etc. They weren't trusted with anything more potent than the Sinicuichi they could gather and drink like lite beer/cordial as you will - keeping them jolly, alert and not inebriated. I'll talk about other herbs later, but there is a lot of confusion about the term "ferment" - especially in all the source lit. about SInicuichi, I've read it. From thread above I see that problem, but thanks folks, it saves me starting one called:- SINICUICHI - ATLANTIC KAVAKAVA Take a 2L clear plastic bottle with lid. Fill with good drinking water at room temperature. Do not use chlorinated water straight from tap. The water must be fit to sustain life i.e. a goldfish could live in it. Strip fresh leaves - must be fresh - about 10 to 20g and put in clipseal plastic bag. Give the leaves a little brusing and place them in the water above, with a little air as possible and seal the bottle with the lid. Place in a warm place, but certainly in the sun if possible. Keep the leaves as "alive" as possible. That is don't expose to temperatures above 40C, extreme UV,etc. I noted that most processes posted above destroyed the necessary enzymes, right at the beginning. No boiling, no chemicals, please! Just pure herb, good water and natural sunshine. The leaves initally sink, then darken, soften and begin to rise. The "ferment" may take 24hrs to appear as a small amount of foam about the leaves - but that is all it is. After 78hrs it is complete, taken a topaz to straw colour and should be chilled before serving (strained of the leaves of course!) Very refreshing and aromatic in its own right - I found it a welcome and easy change to afternoon beers (now that is saying something!) Faintly bitter, nicely complex, surprisingly good "mouth" and a cheery yellow colour, I was enjoying my second litre when I realized I had been enjoying the breeze, light, the moment, without thought or selftalk for some twenty minutes. I continued to enjoy the natural sense of wellbeing, I liken to something GABA mediated, for some hours. Continuing for a few days - enjoying the sobriety - I'd see it as an oeirogenic that is, like kavakava etc., unless you relax and set your mind through to that pathway, you won't get much out of it. The slightest disturbance and you're completely awake and unaffected by it. I enjoyed some with a Great Songman I'd impressed terribly with cactii the night before. A day fishing and singing together, I was delighted to offer him a few cold glasses at home. Agreein/g to its remarkable taste, he declared it a treat, but after twenty minutes relaxed utterly and was soon asleep! I'd shared as much, felt the elation of about one beer, but wasn't the least affected to get some chores done and dinner on. He rested well, my good friend, and after his nap pronounced it a fine tonic indeed! He insisted I teach him and he took a huge potted specimen back to his country - planted in a very honorable place too! Crushing sets off the catabolic reactions terminating to alkaloid - that bound to sol.pectins, action of pectinase, protease are disgorged by osmosis. Don't go pHreaking lactones - it looks very -enolizable - I dare say hanging on by its Van der Waal forces to that sec.N! Check it out in 3D - 2D is very distorting. Check out the resonance along that chain! Quantum enchanting, isn't it? (Calcium? Out of the question.) So what can I say about a legend of a plant! Praise be the Creator Spirit - Blessing us with the Sinicuichi! Hope this is enough information to get you good people going and enjoying this wonder of Nature you've all worked hard to produce! Don't go drinking any of those yucky things I see above - bless you all.

    What's Wrong with My HBWR?

Let's not forget it's past equinox, good folk! Locally ours are well past flowering, setting (dropping seed), 25% senescent yellow, but leathery, leaves. Definitely "dying" back for winter - they do this every year, this time - opening the canopy for other things to grow. The little sweethearts! Will double check with the "neighbours" - they've been giggling alot lately.

Folks - Patty has you sorted for spore prints! Just great to know some of you young folk are keen and knowledgeable enough to know how to make it happen! Old Pat knows how to make sterile filter paper platforms spore prints and keep em in dried Petrie dishes to send too. Had a go at culture myself! Naughty - not nice. (Fol.sub. for newspaper-boiled rice-agar) Up above there is Luminous Mycena - Mycena chlorophanus- "Pikkititee" usually in fours, like women digging, considered the "fairies" of the Picca palms. A know a GabiGabi songman who has a log full of the best huge Luminous Pleurotus Pleurotus lampas - = Blackfella's Lamp - you simply must culture for me! You can read a book by one! Potential source of light production just feeding them nutrients. Conondales - GabiGabi country is famed for such - but it might be a bit late in year. Plenty in Feb at their coob - I had actually picked a particularly bright one wishing I knew someone. (GabiGabi & GorengGoreng singing/trading together on Bunya Trail! Strange days Indeed!) And all you clever folk need is one spore! One spark! I will see what I can do! Definitely next wet - I will make it a mission. Shall I just send the prints to the neutral ground of the WGs - nudgee -Silent-Trade-Place for their dissemination to you folk? No need for addresses then. (Call it "Cold Lampin' with ta 'Flava!") "Blow credibility before cover! I haven't had a real sense of ego since Madchester! Whatever that means! Eh, folk! Giddya everyone! Well, well kind people, old Pat's answer is yes and no - but maybe not that order. Whilst setting up a few highway "Honesty boxes" of cuttings for tourists, the constabulatory asked if I'd seen any sus characters new to the district. (Apparently 'dope fiends" use our area!) Over cigars - he had heard about "it". yes all that ATT I've donated to gardens, old age homes, medial strips, etc. over the decades "could" just "could"- well...what can I say? ... There goes my idea of Pat Uri's "Driver Reviver" scheme of it growing within arms reach of every tired, sleepy car-driver on the road! Hurray! (Old Pat Uri reckons at 2am ~100km/hr cruising to Gold Earing "Radar Love" and 2t >305ci prring in the cool - it is the people who AREN'T on drugs you gotta watch!) I feel like sending Julia a big bunch of "roses" through unknowing local florists. Then after public media recording of the event let her know, "Those weren't rose stems and leaves attached to those flowers the Australian people saw you in possession of, PM, it were great 'qads' of......." and give her 4 hours to repeal the law, or fall victim of it! Ha! ha! (The idea of locking her in my bedroom with only khat and water to consume for however many days it took her to personally realize it is so weak and harmless, laws against it only distilnguish the line between people who know, and those who make up the law, was just my fantasy more than instructive) Moral Dilemana:- Do I tell beer sucking, gamblin&prozzy addicted (- all legal vices - immoral, but legal-) Greazy Pete - next door his weeds has him a lucrative black market opportunity for dodgy farmers, thanks to Govt. Prohibition - think I might just keep my dang fool mouth shut! - right readers? See ya - sept - for more japes and laughs aplenty! Do ask your grannies if they've heard of Arabian Tea Tree. (And tell them you know a fine country gent uses khat as viagra, huge didgeredoo, hung like an Aussie parliment too!) My deepest respect to you - Mr Khatman! Thank you so much - I assure your gift has been very well developed by us who will be eternally grateful! Consider yourself an Abraham, my Sir!, for you are 'father' of a red stemmed nation over here! Please forgive us, no offense is meant - we are very protective of Australia's quarantine laws. We really love our country and couldn't stand the thought of any more diseases being brought in regardless of any personal gain to ourselves or to enjoy your hospitality! Our authorities do a good job (Good on you boys and girls of the Forces who actually do risk your lives daily to uphold laws under politician whims - damned if you do, damned if you don't, eh!) but if some immoral person did get some material sent over that tipped the fragile balance of our sacred land our authorities would just give them a $200 fine! To us that would be an incredible evil crime - unthinkable! - deserving of great anger! For someone who knows better to do it for a little gain! Their life short, their suffering long - along with all other of us children of the Earth. I think it was in this spirit of defense for our country, its bio-security, that evoked such strong feelings of passion - certainly not disrespect. You, we admire as someone who has dug us a well in the middle of a great desert! Now I meet the man himself - my population was SABed - Praise Mr.T! My personal Hero! - others were(&amp); 1 became 10 became 100 etc. - it's biomass progressing faster than Australian law. They look like lilly pilly and the traps have never noticed them. I've been raided on rumour - never charged - so often now they have a pretty constable liaison officer just to deal with me. (I read her palm, give prophesies, get very nice hugs and offer them all cigars - lot of cops trying to give up - poor things) Shamefully I've never let mine flower! No shoot lasts 3 weeks from the predations of the clan! Theyre years old, knee high, trail metres along, layering as they go, a sea of tips and the ends of their woody frames look like a blind cobbler's thumb from picking off the tips. Visitors have to announce a month before they arrive so I leave them some. Now you tell me! Greasy Pete threw out a stack of seeds....only cows eat his...but sun in virgo time...isn't it...old paddy see what he can do.... Bugger of an alkaloid too. Most alkaloids are terminal products of catabolic reactions deposited in the leaves. It is not. It a precursory alkaloid of higher energy state kept enzyme stabilized in the phloem. Once those ATP powers off catabolism isomerizes it to norpsuedo...fed (or do we avoid that term here?) it can't be cured in. (I once did loads of 10 day old as an "ultrasonic" "slushy" and felt like I'd eaten two boxes of sudies - total dysphoria!) But my pleasure again Mr Khatmando - I'd like to send you a "plant tissue culture" kit designed by Uni of Eng. Tissue cultures avoid some issues. Sozz - i know freshgat.com can't do biz with Aus - but drool over the varieties! Plus I've put sterling in their accounts for CDs and teeshirts - I love them for Christmas gifts to Customs! Do they deliver to Bali?
