in my experience rather than growing like weeds they've always been the slowest growing trichs that i've seen. best of luck on your search though.
  3. I have no trouble doing this these days though I must admit I have been practicing/researching/dabbling for the last six years. I recall reading a book called 'How to Astrally Project in 90 Days' many years ago which had lots of techniques for visualisation etc. I remember not being able to do any of it but the book introduced me to the concepts and ideas. I would say that experiments with power plants opened my mind to its potential and perhaps unblocked some of the filters or belief systems that might have been holding me back. For a while there I was practicing a run of Aleister Crowley's exercises in which you visualise an object and then hold it in your mind for as long as you can without letting it change or shift. There are other visualisation exercises that he used to strenghten the mind and I would recommend them. Very hard to do, but the practice seemed to work. I also used guided meditations that would allow someone to narrate something like the opening and cleasning of chakras while I would close my eyes and visualise. After a few goes they become very, very powerful and you can do them yourself without the assistance of an audio guide. I'm at the point now where I can visualise worlds, scenarios, beings, objects in real life or imaginary realms and they pretty much take on a life of their own. As such my use of power plants has dropped to almost zero. I frequently find myself going on journeys brought on only by my mind that seem to be equally as revealing and helpful as any psychedelic journey. All of this said...some people are not geared toward the visual and have other senses that are stronger. Perhaps you take your information in through touch or hearing and not so much from visions. Finally, cannabis can be a help with this at the start but long term use will deaden or cloud up the third eye a little bit. Good luck!
  4. Looks like its a done deal. http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/authorities-gain-power-to-collect-australians--internet-records-20120822-24m03.html Now what? Anyway to opt out of this one?

    Akashic Records True or Not?

thats the point isn't it? it's universal conscisouness. it's already in your mind, you just haven't tapped it yet. i challenge anyone to come up with anything ever that hasn't been derived from their own thoughts. a quote from Lon Milo Duquette comes to mind: 'it's all in your head. you just have no idea how big your head is'.

    Akashic Records True or Not?

yep i agree with Stath... the akashic records are our DNA. dna contains the whole history of your genes...from the very beginning (which depending on your belief system...may include outer space and distant galaxies). in meditation or deep psychedelic states one can access this information and it is literally like a library. a friend i know said that when he had some fungus with syrian rue it unlocked the akashic records for him and he spent about four hours surfing his genetic history and DNA. all he had to do was think of something and it would appear in the records for him to inspect. it's one of those things that are hard to believe in until you find yourself experiencing them.

    the purpose of life

i remember reading it in highschool and finding it very funny. now that i think about it though i'd get a lot more out of it now that i'm a bit more *ahem* grown up. think i'm due for a reread.

    the purpose of life

The meaning of life was once revealed to me by a certain caramel coloured fungus that grows in woodchips. It said, in no uncertain terms: The Meaning of Life is: You've Got To Be Kidding To which I said: You've got to be kidding. To which it said: The Meaning of Life is: You've Got To Be Kidding I've pondered it for some time and it still holds up. Go through life, do everything but keep kidding, keep playing, don't take it too seriously. And when you get to the end of the tunnel you'll think 'aaahhh...it was all a cosmic joke, a sly wink from god to self and back and forth again.

    Tryptamine Palace

great book and much needed for us to get a handle on all the different tryptamines and just how different they really are. it's looking more and more like each and every different psychedelic needs it's own book in order to really get to the bottom of what they are. having read a hell of a lot of books in this genre i must say it gets harder and harder for authors to bring something new to the table. it must also be challenging for them to have to incorporate the whole history and summaries of the psychedelic movement for readers who are new to the subject. i find most books on the subject have about a quarter new and interesting stuff and the rest is just the rehashings of history etc needed to ground their new ideas and give background. great for first time readers of the subject, not so good for those of us who are up to date on it all. for example...you only need to read two or three of Grof's books (say...The Cosmic Game and When The Impossible Happens)...if you've read those you'll find he just repeats himself in most of the other books. makes me think i need to stop writing on here so much and get to work on the great australian psychedelic novel.

    Takeaway tek & loph germination

it works! just fill a takeaway container with plain sand. river sand. coarse sand. i don't think it matters too much. the key is not to have any soil or organic material that can breed fungus or mold. use a spray bottle to dampen the sand add a couple of squirts of diluted seasol or fertiliser. you don't want puddles of water, just enough to have all the sand damp. you could add fungicide, it wouldn't hurt i don't think, but if you're using straight sand it shouldn't matter. whack it in the microwave for two lots of 5 minutes to sterilise i think...when it's cooled down, sprinkle your seeds in the sand, put the lids on and leave them alone. i've carted around takeaway containers from house to house, leaving them at my parents for a year or so outdoors through frosts and epic rain and sun and they've been fine. that said, indoors is probably the best and filtered sunlight is crucial to avoid roasting them. no need to water them or warm them. the sealed container creates the perfect environment and two or three years later they are still going strong and just about ready to be plucked out and put into pots.

First forest walk of the year

is there a problem with dark stems? i always assumed it was from spores dropping...obviously older species go black and mushy but is there something wrong with dark stems? e.g bad for you?
  14. i've heard of this with magical objects such as crystals, wands, talismans, coins etc. you bury them somewhere special...on sacred ground, near a waterfall, in a desert, cemetary, church or wherever. the idea is that overnight they absorb and charge from the energies in the earth and environment. do it on a full moon or solstice and you've got extra power going on. this is pretty standard practice in shamanism/magick/witchcraft or whatever. if you've got a lucky charm or amulet or anything, why not try it out, if you are into that sort of thing. as for sacraments, i don't know if burying them would help...i'd like to think they would already have the earth energy within if they are naturally occuring. there's plenty of gnome power in mushrooms as it is. i'd be inclined to suspect burying might just degrade them a bit. however...i've heard of people burying bottled ayahausca and saying that its effects are much more powerful. i guess if the substance lends itself well to being buried without decomposition then a bit of medicine with extra earth energy can't hurt.
  15. yeah dude! Carlos D was a great bassist. more creative and melodic than most of the other bass players of his era. you can hear the overall quality of Interpol's music slide when he left. i heard he was a massive metalhead in his youth. so he has the ability to shred and play really difficult stuff, but he's toned it down to what is needed for interpol. thats another great lesson for bass players to learn: the notes you don't play are just as important as the notes you do play!

    To keep silent?

to know...to will...to dare and to keep silent... i know what you are talking about mud. it's similar to letting your own ego take the back seat and letting the universe take over... keep yourself open and you'll see a path just for you continually opening up. it'll point the way to all sorts of things weather its mushroom patches, conversations with randoms that happen to have the right piece of information, gold coins, rare books, new friends etc. you've got to smile and give thanks when these things happen, take a moment to laugh at just how cheeky the universe can be, then move on to the next adventure. i've been tempted to write a book outlining all the 'random' and insignificant coincidences that have opened themselves up into life transforming events or friendships. but that wouldn't be keeping silent would it. i think the main point of keeping silent is to avoid ridicule from non believers, to avoid stuffing up any manifestations you are working on (otherwise known as 'lusting for results) and i also suspect...to give yourself an air of mystery! on the other hand...there was once a time when you could be burnt at the stake for such thoughts...so keeping silent can be a good idea. on yet another hand...i suspect there are those that use magick for pretty sinister purposes and keeping silent is just part of the program. i like to talk about these things with my friends but i always put the disclaimer: 'i don't know if it's real or imagined...but it's downright interesting!' at the end. if your speaking magickally.....Aleister Crowley said that when you are following your true will (i.e what you are put on earth for) then you will have the intertia of the universe behind you. i can't count the amount of times I've been recommended a book only to find it soon after for $2 at an Op shop, or how often I've had 'ideas' flash into my brain that have paid off in great ways, be it thinking of a great birthday present for someone or asking someone about a job or turning left instead of right. it seems to come from somewhere other than my dumb ass ego self. i like to think that we cocreate our universe every single second. what we contemplate, we imitate or draw towards us. it's getting rid of the shackles of fear based illusions like 'i won't have enough money...what if i lose my job' etc that prevent us from accessing what we really want or deserve. and yes, i think that a lot of those illusions are shifting this year and more and more people are accessing their inbuilt wisdom and intuition...if you are ahead of others, don't forget to hold the door open for them. peace.
  17. i play bass. have done for the last six years or so. before that i was a guitarist until i started a band that needed a bass player. i must admit it took a little while before I fully felt like a bass player and not just a guitarist resigned to playing bass. i once had the spirit of cliff burton appear during a mushroom journey. he told me if i was going to play bass i better start taking it seriously and rocking the hell out. so i did. and now the bass and i are one. always jamming. to get you started i recommend learning about major and minor triads, they are very simple chord shapes that you can use. once you learn a simple pattern it can be used for any chord and anywhere on the bass neck. you can find lessons easy on the internet. i recommend saying hello to king green herbage and sitting down for about, i don't know...say four or five days and just playing your bass until the whole world dissolves. youll emerge a hero, i promise! i'm a lefty so i've got a soft spot for Paul McCartney's bass work with the beatles. very melodic and clever. i think these guys are all particularly awesome though: Al Cisneros- bass player from Sleep and Om, specialises in hypnotic, doomy, egyptian style. very unique style and really pushing the boundaries of what can be done with just a bass and some drums. Cliff Burton- Metallica's original bassist and the real creative force behind their earlier albums Justin Chancellor- Tool- awesome use of effects, strange time signatures and heaviness. Chris Squire- Yes- Prog Rock legend, but with a really cool cutting tone. Geezer Butler- Black Sabbath- he invented heavy metal. keep on rocking.

Odd woodlover or just a sub?

yeah looks like an old sub to me. but don't trust my judgement! the twist of the stem is something i've seen subs do. most other mushroom stems are too brittle and weak to pull off twisting underneath and around bits of wood like subs can do. when they get older and are exposed to rain they go a mucky grey colour. it's really amazing the changes they go through from dark caramel brown caps when they are young to almost pale yellow if they get old and dried out...or blackish grey blue if they have been soaking in rain for a few too many days.

    First subs of 2012 season

it was a fine weekend in sydney for mycologists. some suspected that the full moon on june 4th had something to go with the impressive size, variation and ridiculous abundance of specimens. one mycologist who claimed to be the caretaker of the photographed patch agreed it was the biggest fruiting he had seen in the three years he studied the area.

    Sub burbing

Got to agree with trichpach. a friend once ate some subs growing by the side of the road. they worked just fine but had a lot more of the undesireable symptons like lots of yawning, double vision, bleary , watering eyes and general discomfort. he likes to think its because they weren't growing in an awesome location.

    Sub Heaven

truly amazing. little sub city right there. i can imagine smurfs kicking back after sunset. no reason why these sorts of patches couldn't naturally pop up in every corner of the neighbourhoods, what with all the spores that must be out there in the atmosphere... thanks for posting!
