  1. hi everyone... just a curious question about my little cactus here... i bought it around 6 yrs ago off the old swapnsell forum the corroboree had along with another one which died on me [rot] last year. when i first bought them they did not appear columnar and resemembled small buttons like i expected. then after a couple years they started to grow up and i thought ah maybe they arent peyote afterall.. until this year when a good friend suggested to me that it could be a mutation? i didn't think much of it until this little button formed a few months ago and it has grown at a rapid rate... thoughts?

Sold to me 5-6yrs ago as Peyote???

Soil mix used = 20% vermiculite/ 50% sand/ 30% potting mix [approx] + pebbles / small rocks on top The time difference in original crooked penis loph to graft: [dates of when photos were taken] Crooked Penis Loph - 18/12/2012 Grafted Penis Cactus - 12/04/2013 I performed the graft on the 10/03/2013 I am personally impressed by how easily the graft took and how much growth it has had in such a short amount of time... merely 4 weeks basically.

LOL yep i'm def an honest sort who isn't interested in exploiting anyone for anything... unfortunately some people take advantage of me being so compassionate but such is life. I most certainly kept the base, I should take a photo of it tomorrow, along with a photo of the graft [been a long day didn't get home til late and am ready for bed] I am still experimenting in the best position for the base to be, where it is atm doesn't get much light but still some, but I think I need to introduce it into more direct light, same as my graft but i turn it every day a bit at a time so it gets even light and it seems to be working fine so far!

Sold to me 5-6yrs ago as Peyote???

Just an update, I'll take some more pics tomorrow to show comparison... but I decided to give it the slice and attempt a graft onto a Echinopsis bridgesii 'Montrosa' - AKA Penis Plant. I'm actually quite impressed with how well it worked and can see it has grown a good amount since the graft was done. This image was taken 7 days after the graft attempt.

    Plant ID?

"It occurs throughout mid-latitude mainland Australia, but not in the tropical north, nor in the cooler, wetter, southwest and southeast corners. It thus occurs in every mainland state except Victoria." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_tobacco

    Plant ID?

ok after a bit of research.... it seems native tobacco is found in nearly all states and territories in Australia, except for Victoria which is where this is located. Now I am well aware this could have changed, however based on the climate is it likely? I guess once it grows large enough and goes to flower we will be more certain

    spiritual electricity

wow it is good to see other people discussing these feelings with peace of mind... i experience this frequently and one thing that really triggers it off is a strong emotional experience; even if it's just from watching a touching movie or seeing a sad story on the news... generally no-one else is around when it happens which in some ways comforts me as i do feel a bit odd when it happens sometimes... i almost feel like im going to cry for no good reason sometimes and i can definitely see how a psychiatrist would diagnose it as an illness and prescribe zombie inducing meds.. i feel a lot more at ease after reading this post!

'Magic Mushroom' Drug May Improve Personality Long Term

This makes me feel much better about my gnome's fungi use of the past 11 years! :-D Explains why they are so laid back and able to make new friends so easily... my gnome is just a little cautious with some people as he has been fooled by the wrong people before and taught them things they did not deserve to learn! Great article!

    What zodiac sign are you?

hahaha that makes two of us Amazonian and a lot of the time I am a perfectionist... It can be both a blessing and a curse... previous bosses generally don't like it as I take longer to do a task despite the fact I am doing it at 101%. I am also very compassionate but my biggest folly is I worry about other people too much and forget myself in the process; I give out great advice but rarely follow it myself. Something I am slowly learning how to cope with and handle much better. I still like to help people and always will but I am no good to anyone without helping myself first!

    EGA 2011 - Adelaide Attendees

Hi all.. I am definitely making my way to Strathbogie ranges for the 2011 EGA and plan on driving from Adelaide. I am thinking/planning ahead and am wondering if anyone else is planning on going from Adelaide and if they have sorted out transport arrangements yet? At this stage I will be the only one going [a lot of my friends suck and don't realise what they are missing out on or they are unable to get the time off work, at most at this stage there will be 1 other person joining me but they haven't confirmed] so if anyone would like to join me on the drive and contribute to fuel costs that would be awesome!!! Being I have put this out there now with plenty of time, it gives us a chance to meet up and make sure we are all going to get along... I am very easy going guy and get along with most people so if you wanna go and wanna grab a lift by all means let me know.. I've got a 88 pajero 4wd with plenty of room for a comfy road trip! I can't wait! Great times ahead!

72 hours to End the War on Drugs

In 72 hours, we could finally see the beginning of the end of the ‘war on drugs’. This expensive war has completely failed to curb the plague of drug addiction, while costing countless lives, devastating communities, and funneling trillions of dollars into violent organized crime networks. Experts all agree that the most sensible policy is to regulate, but politicians are afraid to touch the issue. In days, a global commission including former heads of state and foreign policy chiefs of the UN, EU, US, Brazil, Mexico and more will break the taboo and publicly call for new approaches including decriminalization and regulation of drugs. This could be a once-in-a-generation tipping-point moment -- if enough of us call for an end to this madness. Politicians say they understand that the war on drugs has failed, but claim the public isn't ready for an alternative. Let's show them we not only accept a sane and humane policy -- we demand it. Sign the petition and share with everyone -- when we reach 1/2 million, it will be personally delivered to world leaders by the global commission. For 50 years current drug policies have failed everyone, everywhere but public debate is stuck in the mud of fear and misinformation. Everyone, even the UN Office on Drugs and Crime which is responsible for enforcing this approach agrees -- deploying militaries and police to burn drug farms, hunting down traffickers, and imprisoning dealers and addicts – is an expensive mistake. And with massive human cost -- from Afghanistan, to Mexico, to the USA the illegal drug trade is destroying countries around the world, while addiction, overdose deaths, and HIV/AIDS infections continue to rise. Meanwhile, countries with less-harsh enforcement -- like Switzerland, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Australia -- have not seen the explosion in drug use that proponents of the drug war have darkly predicted. Instead, they have seen significant reductions in drug-related crime, addiction and deaths, and are able to focus squarely on dismantling criminal empires. Powerful lobbies still stand in the way of change, including military, law enforcement, and prison departments whose budgets are at stake. And politicians fear that voters will throw them out of office if they support alternative approaches, as they will appear weak on law and order. But many former drug Ministers and Heads of State have come out in favour of reform since leaving office, and polls show that citizens across the world know the current approach is a catastrophe. Momentum is gathering towards new improved policies, particularly in regions that are ravaged by the drug trade. If we can create a worldwide outcry in the next 72 hours to support the bold calls of the Global Commission on Drug Policy, we can overpower the stale excuses for the status quo. Our voices hold the key to change -- Sign the petition and spread the word. We have a chance to enter the closing chapter of this brutal 'war' that has destroyed millions of lives. Global public opinion will determine if this catastrophic policy is stopped or if politicians shy away from reform. Let's rally urgently to push our hesitating leaders from doubt and fear, over the edge, and into reason. Click here to sign the petition and tell your friends!

72 hours to End the War on Drugs

I agree with you Sheather That's why I posted it as soon as I had stumbled across it myself... something like this should have been spread much sooner and marketed a lot better!!! I posted it on my fb page but expect a lot of the people on my friends list will ignorantly see it as supporting drug use rather than what it's really about. To anyone who has seriously thought about the war on drugs and payed even the slightest bit of attention it has done nothing to stop drug use let alone trafficking and all the money from the illegal market has funded professional criminals but then I guess you could almost say giving the money to the government is no better depending how it gets used. I have a bit of hope regarding the outcome but am not going to hold my breathe... better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all though it's def a step in the right direction

    Ayahuasca vine may prevent alzheimers

awesome thread thanks for the great info guys! :-)
  24. almost 6 years ago now my gnome clean snapped his right forearm [ulna/radius] and had bits of bone dangling out his arm from a downhill mountain biking accident. he was put on morphine once he got to the hospital [damn paramedics had none in the ambulance] which was very effective at more or less knocking him out so he didnt feel any pain... when he was sent home the following day he was given a script of oxycontin which is strong shit and he was only on the 16mg tabs [x2 3x/day] after a week they virtually had no effect @ that same dose... it wasn't until my gnome found some hashish that the pain totally left... perhaps hashish has a much stronger pain relieving effect than regular bud but by golly it worked! just ask my gnome... panadol does nothing imo... id rather sit in a corner and stare at the wall in a trance like state deep in meditation [which is kind to the body and the wallet]

Police arrest 184 in worldwide pedophile ring: Europol

All I want to say is I am surprised and deeply disappointed at how petty, accusing, nasty, judgemental, hateful and downright appalling this thread is.... but still not as appalling as the topic the thread was posted about to begin with... [bEFORE IT TOOK A TURN] there are a lot of people on this forum it seems need to grow the fuck up, open their mind [a lot wider] and learn to accept that not everyone has the same knowledge, experiences, beliefs and opinions as you do! at the end of the day, i'd just like to think we all agree on one thing that the suffering of a child in any way, shape or form [especially that of sexual assault and not just limited to children] is not acceptable and everything should be done to eradicate the scum of this earth who think otherwise!
