Our white oyster fruiting off two cups of straw - mini grow
Zen Peddler replied to Zen Peddler's topic in Mycology
Hi - I just use millet mainly because Im used to it and can get it for very cheap. Its a pain with spawning outdoor beds though as even a tiny bit of birdseed attracts every rat in the southern hemisphere. Ive also used rye grass seed and similar when i can get that for very cheap as well. -
Just mucking around with a small bag of excess straw spawned with half a cup of millet spawn. It went ok - Id wager that is above 100% bioefficiency:

Open air. Tasty suckers didnt last long -
I have these lovely bags of SRA ~ And the plate of the strain: However last night I realised to my frustration that the strain I tested was actually a different strain and I havent tested the above yet. I have cased it and hoping it will fruit well but I dont want to distribute it until Im certain its also a fruiter. Ill start bags of the the fruiting strain here tomorrow:
-
20 bags of Sra spawn at about 90% with another two strains (one a wild clone, another a commercial (if you could call any Sra culture a commercial strain))being tested for viability. 10 bags of bitorquis also in the pipeline. plus all the usual: 2 commercial strains of king oyster spawn/plates, etc. at this stage the blewits are on a backburner until I can turn those pins into actual fruits rather than aborts ;)
-
I made a mistake with those bags btw - 2.5 litre substrates not 1 litre for $40.
-
Now that I'm officially over my annoying mite infestation, I can update anyone interested in some upcoming products soon to be available: More king oyster strains - 2 commercial, one a awesome store bought clone; $15 each; King stropharia - new kick arse strains - 1 litre sawdust spawn bags $40, plates $25 Agaricus bitotquis compost spawn bags - 1 litre $40 Agaricus Augustus (American isolate) - 1 litre $40 White oyster 'dont feed after midnight' strain - 1 litre spawn jar $35, plates $15, getting exciting!!
-
yes they can - look tasty!
-
at the risk of double posting: - SRA 'Pawtucket' 2 litre spawn bags are nearly finished with plates now available for $25 - SRA 'Olympus' 2 litre spawn bags and plates coming soon - SRA 'Mullum' also soon to follow - Agaricus bitorquis 2 litre spawn bags are also nearly finished with plates soon available for $25 each - Two king oyster commercial strains available - plates $18, spawn at 1 litre jars also available - both kick arse in my experience and from all reports. - My 'dont fee after midnight' oyster strain - $15 per plates, spawn at 1 litre jars also available. Back to the drawing board with Lepista nuda and saeva but hopefully augustus is coming soon although these spawn bags will probably take six months to colonise ;) cheers

My favorite culinary wise were the Piopinno and sra. Kings were also quite nice but I got oystered out
-
Do you mean sra? I was surprised the casing which barely colonized before fruiting did not contaminate as the time from cold shock to fruiting was 4-5 weeks. Tasty though!

All i got is good old shit:

Thanks mate - those kinds look sensational. Enjoy!
-
No worries mate. Im very confident that these will perform.
-
Mind if I use those pics on my website? thanks man

oh nice mate. they look very tidy! Well done - I wish Id been better with Co2 and got larger caps like those. They are killer strains though.

study finds logging increased severity of black saturday fires
Zen Peddler replied to paradox's topic in News & Notices
There is no doubt about this - where I am logging basically increased fires and their speed by allowing more wind through the forest. Less large trees also increases the thickness of flamable undergrowth. I live currently in a eucalypt forest and its a little scary at times although its very moist where we are (we had mushrooms growing in feb and mud all year round).- 1 reply
