Years ago I posted some info about a species of Grevillia that has reputed psychoactive qualities that was used by indigenous Australians around the Yulara area in NT. Im glad to see that Prier or someone managed to suss out that the species in question was actually this species: Grevillea Stenobotrya Id be pretty keen to hear if anyone has any info about this plant or any bioassay reports??? Subs do have purple prints - if you do a light print is usually looks pretty purple before it darkens through time a dull purplish brown. The variant Ps.eucalypta has a browner spore print than the more classic sub with lageniform cystidia. I looked for the blue staining originally. Gallerina and Aurantiaca may look similar to the untrained eye but they dont stain blue at all. The stem should be whitish/grey with bluish/green markings sometimes, the gills should be lightish to darkish chestnut in colour, the cap quite similar to gallerina in colour, with occasional blue staining. subs stain a darker inky blue than US continental species and im not sure why this is.

Some mycologists now doubt the method used by Guzman et al where they delineate species based purely minor differences in one or two types of microscopic sterile cells on their gill edge and face. Its probably similar to delineating a man with straight hair and another with frizzy hair into different species.

Some info for you guys. Psilocybe cubensis has been reported in Victoria on a number of occasions, although it is rare. You can actually fruit cubensis outside in victoria on natural or the high-tryptophan substrates like millet preferred nowdays but if they arent covered they generally fair poorly. I know of one collection of small cubensis found on cow manure on the Penisula near Frankston and the guy who found these was a reputable chap so I have no reason to doubt the find. That being said, Psilocybe cubensis in Tasmania has never been reported so when BIO came out and collected it and semilanceata, chances are he made a mistake and cataloged a QLD cubie as a tassie. The tassie substrain is a very nice strain however, but it does well at high temps rather than poorly as you would expect if it had delineated towards being a cold-weather phenotype. Psilocybe subaeruginosa has been collected in southern QLD and I have collected subareuginosa allies in parks near Nimbin and Mullimbimby myself (and even directed Rev to the spot so he could verify the find). My advice for Victorian and Tasmanians is to concentrate on finding Ps.Semilanceata which was once described as 'common' on sheep pastures at altitude. Dinner plain, Mount Buffalo and the highlands of tassie are fertile grounds.

Only substance ive ever seen as a catalyst for psychosis or the onset of frank paranoid schizophrenia was dope. Three dudes I grew up with at school ripped a few cones and started talking with strange accents etc. I also had a close friend recently diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia - he smoked a LOT of weed for a few years, droped acid maybe six times his entire life and then went clean. Symptoms didnt arise until after he went CLEAN. Another friend of a friend had a bipolar episode after quiting dope smoking for a few months after a few years of reasonably heavy usage. On the other hand im friends with around 9 dudes who have taken a LOT of acid, shrooms and other psychedelics - 2cb and 2ct7 on a few rare occasions (nasty stuff!!) and none of them have encountered any real issues other than maybe a few bad trips at the times and a few sort of anxiety related issues following these bad trips. None ever had an episode of psychosis following an acid/shroom trip and none have ever encountered flashbacks. Same deal for me. The proof for me is in the pudding. Maybe its because these guys smoked dope and didnt get effects so did not have a predisposition to psychosis? Or maybe dope is the danger drug for bringing on mental illness if its there latently? I dont really know. I did feel bad for my friend - there were times when he'd knock back a joint and id insist. He is now on heavy anti-psychotics and I kind feel maybe I had a hand in that. He did mdma one night and this was shorlty before is major first episode.

Psilocybin is actually less toxic than coffee so in relation to your body it is actually quite safe. Its easily metabolised. There are some bizarre and occasional physiological effects that can occur during the come-up - there generally relate to sympathetic overactivity -anxiety, dizziness either from venous dilation or a sudden drop in blood sugar levels (im not really sure which). That being said ive also encountered partial paralysis from two different lignious species - Ps.Subaeruginosa and Ps.Cyanescens, but not from Azurescens despite its reputation is the principle cause of this problem. I assume this could be something either to do with other alkaloids/compounds extracted from the rotting wood substrates or perhaps its a result of the overly high potency of these particular mushrooms (woodlovers being the most potent). Most serious reactions to Psilocybe mushrooms in my experience relate to sudden allergic symptoms, psychological/anxiety related issues which can leave a lingering afterglow caused by succumbing to THE FEAR or misidentification which ive seen cause problems for even suprisingly experienced trippers (a couple of Stropharia Aurantiaca in a batch of subs can make you a very crook dude). I dont believe that psilocybin/psilocin, et al can cause serotonin syndrome - I thought this was only cause by reuptake inhibators in conjunction with psychedelics/MDMA and was VERY rare?? last thing Ill say is that I can safely say that from my experience there seems to be no long term effects from significant use. Ive had friends who have encountered effects from long term use, but these usuallyt relate to particularly bad trips (which seem to happen more often with shrooms than other psychedelics) and it might be more to do with the trauma of extreme fear - possible post traumatic stress? The symptoms are quite similar. Certainly id say other substances are more likely to give you problems. And mushrooms seem to open a latent belonging with nature and a connection with the earth that wasnt there previously.

Subbalteatus doesnt grow on lignious/wood debris and im pretty sure it isnt gregarious in that it doesnt grow in clumps like that.

Before I did a shite load of drugs - I mean I smoked a bit but otherwise i was just a piss-head fromj the country I experience a ghost. Not one of your 'place back an experience in your location and you can watch like a movie' ghosts. Im talking a ghost that wanted to hassle my ass, wanted to have parties where my flatmate heard it, etc etc - wanted to jump pn me when i was asleep ghosts.e Sometimes I wonfer whether it was a spirit trying to tell me to stop my life plan at the time with ultimately resulted in me taking every psychedelic i could get my hand on in huge quantities. But then why would it do that? Im a more grounded humanitarian with a connection to nature and the cosmos than I would have ever had if id stayed my path as a wide-eyed country boy wanker?? Afyer we left the flat at least twice the thing followed me. It made its strange bubbly noise - like a weird fishing rod when it s being wound in. if you ever experience a ghost you will know what i mean. In the end my will was strong and it left me, but not without featrs that still affect me in the cold at night by myself. Weirdest of all - my old flatmate, a calm dope smoker is now a full blown diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. He lost the plot in the last few years and for some reason i cant help but thinking it has something to do with the ghost. it worries me as he was a good good friend of mine. How could he go from totally sane to totally paqranoid, everyone is talkming about him paranoid in two years?? But yet I believe that thing would not be that powerful unless you let it. But he was isolated for a long time. I on the other hand have a very strong ego/personlaity that at times affects even my tripping fluency. what thing ye of the othersifde??
