Hey T, how about adding a statement along the lines of "!0% commission (donation) for server costs per sale greatly encouraged & appreciated" Doesn't 3rd party private sales cut into your Store sales?

The Spineless Trichocereus Scopulicola Project
zelly replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents

No, I'm saying you should contribute to the forum in some way such as increasing your post count. You're asking for a plant that is illegal to possess in the usa and then go on to say how hard it is (for you) to find there. I'm just saying if you figure out a way to integrate yourself a bit more into the community, somebody may come along and offer it to you for free

pot size is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big, potting soil of indeterminate quality cant breathe due to being smothered in white rocks, which btw is an excellent way to create a lot of problems for any potted cactus.....your soil mass should be such that it can drain freely, breathe, and totally dry out in 4-5 days from watering.....make your plants grow looking for water rather than drowning them.....(oversized pot, soil that cant breathe)

Congrats Patrick, wishing you & H a long & fruitful marriage; although Mom always advised, Dont Get married Until Your Kids Are Old Enough To Support You. She also advised to Eat Dessert First....

why should anybody help you out? you've been a member here since Dec 2014 and have zero content, other than asking for things in the Wanted forum How do you expect people to help you out when you are unwilling to make any contributions to the content on the site?

Looking for Lophophora Pics For My New Project, Lophophora.de

which variety has a reddish colored style on the pistil? pink difusa's white flowered difusa's: this one is in a 20 cm pot this one is in a 15cm pot -
sunburn is completely different, this is in a league of its own. A spot will start off really small & then grow larger over a course of time. Soon spots begin to overlap each other. It mainly occurs on sun exposed sides but will also form on sides totally shaded.

Zelly's trich crosses, got pics? post here please
zelly replied to mushroomman's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Oscar started life one of 4-5 of the same hybrid seedlings of unknown parentage all growing together in a pot. Eventually the pot was planted in the ground and one column really took off. Another seedling grew normal for a bit then went totally monstrous. A third and fourth seedling went semi monstrous and the fifth seedling is looking pretty normal. All but the first are nearly spineless or really small spines. The monstrous plant first grew a Y with both legs of the Y cresting, now one leg is reverting back to a somewhat columnar growth. Just now I'm in the process of transplanting the seedlings from the tub to pots, who knows, maybe I'll find a few freaks among them. -

hey i wanna really thank you mates for posting up pics of your grafting skills, they really are awe inspiring. as grafted, the seedlings just look so magnificently healthy and a real joy to look at. In stark comparison, at best i manage to grow a few out on their own roots, the ones that dont die off anyway.....heres some 7 month old seedlings of ss02xss01 x red grandi as comparison to the above.... -
I'd like to know myself; I've got one peruvianus plant that is affected similarly, only much more so.....old growth is affected, new growth & pups are not. I'm half convinced its genetic based as i took a totally non affected branch, rooted it, and planted it in a different section of my garden. Now 3-4 years later the main stem is affected but none of the branches. Predominately occurs on the sun facing sides. The corking is on the waxy outer layer; peeling it away reveals normal green epidermis underneath the corking. Whatever it is, it does not spread to nearby plants.

heck i thought you were posting about making a tea from fresh sprouted trich seeds....
-
depending on a persons definition of older.......older as a few inches down from the tip or older as in near the base of 3 meter plants?
-
what can you glean from the brownish spines & felt like aeroles?
-
how about nice close up shots of the tip, middle & lower section? lets get a better look at the aeroles & spine details....
-
Olive, fwiw, here's some comparison pics of Nitrogens Psycho0 x Cuzcoensis hybrid...... original seedling: in the above pic the tip got broke off when another plant came crashing down, here's the tip now on its own roots 18 months later...
-
more than likely a bridgesii with in bred cuzcoensis genetics imo the first three pics show strong cuzco tendencies...

Cali is a mighty big & diverse state with temperature swings from 134F to -45F http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0930157.html Record highs & lows in my area are 110F to 22F i'm of the opinion that plants grown in the ground for numerous years have somewhat 'climatized' themselves for that particular area and are able to survive extremes that would otherwise damage or kill them. Another factor is humidity in conjunction with freezing temps. A heavy fog with below freezing temps was lethal to several tropicals (Pv in particular) that otherwise did just fine with freezing temps and much less relative humidity.
-
Like I said, theres a lot more in play here than freezing temps. My plants have experienced lows of 27F-28F and the only thing that has ever froze was a 3 meter Pilocereus azureus last winter; no damage whatsoever on any trich. Looks more & more like your wheat farmer neighbor spraying for bugs got some over spray on your plants. IMHO your third, fourth & fifth pics down from above are not indicative of 'cold weather damage', regardless of who thinks they are. The fifth pic is really telling. No way in hell is that 'cold weather damage'.
-
two questions mate, 1) zone b- what are the lowest winter temps you typically experience 2) can you be more specific in your location? imho theres a lot more at play here than freezing temps, black rot & bugs
