  1. Sounds like humidity is good, but so is air flow, to prevent rot and such.. So maybe wrap it in the t-shirt material as described above, but keep the t-shirt material moist with a sprayer/spritzer? That way there will be humidity in the form of water evaporating from the t-shirt, but also good air-flow since the t-shirt is permeable..

  2. Is that how it started? I didn't know that TBM was not found "in nature" where other bridgesii are - is this true?

Anyhow, both clone A and B are superb plants - we have the clone A here in the USA, so I reckon it'l prolly turn up in Oz as well ;-)...

  3. I have some pollen for ya:

    T. bridgesii v "Supermodel"

    T. huarazensis

Both of the above are primo strains - reckon they'd be fine genetics for that crest of yours..

It's at the end of growing/flowering season here in the USA - while I gather y'all are just beginning your season in the southern hemisphere.. Anyhow, the pollen I have is quite fresh..

  4. Right on - let's hope PD replies - to my earlier post I think he thought I didn't know how the cacti are described in terms of mom x dad - I do know this of course, but am not sure which mine was.. I wanna say it was super pedro x J3 but I may be entirely wrong.. I'm pretty sure I also had super pedro x psycho0 rather than the reverse, but not sure about the J3 cross..

BTW big ups to PD for making all these great crosses - cheers bro!!

  5. Thanks for the compliments! I haven't sowed any of the Cuzco x Psycho0 seeds, but I hope some other have, or will - reckon that will be a spectacular cross - Psycho0 is a long spinned and robust plant, and that seed grown Cuzco is just nuts - the progeny will surely be amazing looking..

I'm gonna try and get some more seed crosses this year - if I do I'll spread the seed around for sure - I'd like some interesting crosses from Australia but I won't require them in terms of me sending out my own seeds - am happy to gift seed..

That mutant in the background is my Trichocereus peruvianus monstrosus - hope it flowers again this year.. Here's a pic of it before it pupped, from a couple years back:

  6. Good to see some people are growing, and that the seeds got spread around a bit!

There were so few seeds to start with, and the germination rate looks like it was about 30-50%.. I sowed I think it was 10 of them - only 4 survived, and that sounds about typical...

In that thread that was linked, a guy posted his pic of a non-mutant seedling - that thing was still small though, might well mutate as it grows. or just have subtle mutation..

  7. Awesome, thanks!

I'll post some pics of my seedlings when I have some time - they are still pretty small and not all that distinct.. Kinda peruvianoid looking seedlings to me..

The J3, to my eye, looks quite bridgesii.. Kinda peruvianus too though..

Anybody else sow this seed or have pics?

  8. I sent some of this seed to Oz 2 years ago after my TPM flowered and a fellow nooker's SS02 flowered - the fruit from that flower was very small and had only 300 seeds or so.. I sent them out to several people and sowed 10 for myself - only 4 sporuted for me but all 4 are mutants..

I haven't seen pics from anybody in Oz who got the seed - how have the results been? All 4 of mine are mutants and each in a different way, so I'm fascinated to think of all the exotic morphology that is going to result when these seedlings get bigger!

I'm hoping the plant flowers again this year - last year it flowered and we crossed it with an SS01 (SS01 was the motherplant - not sure how those seeds turned out) Hoping it flowers again this year!

    Post ur pix!

Here are mine - pic is a couple months old - they're a little bigger and weirder now:

  9. I'm looking for hybrid seed - Bruce, Sausage plant, Eileen (has that one flowered yet for anybody?), J1-4 (there are 4 right?), superpedro, various bridgesii, pachanoi, peruvianus, scop - anybody have some interesting hybrids? Drop me a PM and lets swap!

I have some nice crosses myself for trade:

    1. seed grown Ecuadorian pachanoi x bridgesii v "Psycho0"

    2. Psycho0 by seed grown Cuzco (a bitter Cuzco with spectacular beautiful spines - not sure how potent it is, but it has bitterness which is somewhat unusual for plants of its type)

    3. same as 2 but the reverse - psycho0 as the dad

    4. SS01 (peruvianoid) by Trichocereus peruvianus monstrosus (TPM) - haven't grown any of these out but my TPM has produced hybrid seed with SS02 that has led to a mutant rate of something like 50% - crests and monstrosus - all 4 of my seedlings have mutated.. Some of this seed (of which there was only like 300 total - from a very small, single fruit) I sent to Australia - don't know how people have done with it - haven't been by this forum in many months)

    5. Currently a fruit is developing that is the seed grown Ecuadorian pach x an unnamed bridgesii I have - absolutely gorgeous and potent specimen - see pic below.. That seed will be available in a couple months

    Here's the Ecuadorian pachanoi:

    Here's my Cuzco:

  10. Hi all, I've some "Super Pedro" x "J3" seedlings growing but I know almost nothing about the father plant.. Thx PD btw for those seeds! I'm not even sure if SP is the mother and J3 is the father (but I think so - might be the reverse though)..

Does anyone have info about the growth habit, appearance, or shamanic properties of "J3".. Pictures? My seedlings are growing well but more slowly than the Super pedro x Psycho0 seedlings that I sowed at the same time..

  11. I like the Eileen strain but its one of a dozen or so bridgesii I have growing and seems very typical in terms of growth habit and size etc... Nor is it any more attractive to my eye than the other bridgesii.. Nice potent strain though for sure..

  12. Yah I dunno - it does not clean off the spine except just a little - the spine remains blackish - doesn't wash off either - also, the areoles with these spines turn a sort of blackish color too...

The cacti continue to grow pretty well though, I don't think its anything life-threatening, but it is unsightly..

  13. FWIW I had a package from Peru containing caapi searched by USA customs last week - first time it happened to me - they labeled it only as "ornamental" though which may have confused the customs people - they sent it along to me fine though, caapi is legal over here...
