  15. With all due respect to grieving the families of the young men , but i hope this is not just some new craze the EMO's have started off, But , i mean, well its rat poison This could be taken in bad taste- I'm just interested in wether this is something people do when the bottle shops closed or the bank accounts empty or something- My thoughts are with the grieving families

Acacia floribunda is such a quick grower, in the right conditions you would have more plant matter than you could handle in about three years Bark? Leaves? Seeds? doesn't matter, produces plenty of all YT you've seen obtuse growing in gardens - interesting

Locations for obtuse can be found all over the web- People can easliy id almost any tree, shrub ,moss or fungi from any location with the help of the internet. There is nothing wrong with someone who feels the need to share his/her favorite secret spot wether it be for fishing, bird watching or just visiting BTW, awesome thread guy's after reading this i believe there is hope for us all, just awesome!!

    attack of the scales?

I thought growing environment or growing medium were main factor's ( only 2 factor's ) that could lead to any sort of health issue when dealing with trich or echinop, Black rot affected one of my pach's too- Ithink humidity and air flow could be cause of the black spoting Sina's got a good point, things can burn in two days, Cacti get stressed if left in hot cars for too long as well, (2 hours) i found this out by accident!

Yeah man- Have never quite made it to merimbula, probably soon though, but my favorite locality is 'mallacoota' Home of the largest flathead(fish) in the world The longifolias would be growing well now, looking nice and healthy after some rain !! Also another notable species in these parts is the Acaia cognata. Best known for its common dwarf cultivar "green mist" Not as common as Obtuse, but worth an admire along the way, very graceful weeping habit,

Destruction of ecosystems due to ringbarking? Must be a popular pursuit in some parts, NOT DOWN HERE Rarely and i mean very rarely does this sort of thing happen in VIC Despite the fact it grows like a sweet Pittosporum (P phylliraeoides?) Acacia obtuse- 'local useless weed most of the time' (freakin everywhere in those hills it is in east gippy to stay Whats dmtcrystal??? Far east Gippsland is a truly unique and magical location, known to my family for 4 generations now cheers

Forget the ring barking guy's Watching the news earlier on this evening, i heard that the fire season is in full swing now after the rain over christmas time ( it pissed down in vic!!) and the Bendoc area of east gippy (probably near the spot where coschi got his pics) is starting to burn as well as other areas, could be the start of a big one - Fire can threaten parts of east gippy every few years and unless the area has had a burn off over the last decade a fair bit of fuel can gather, Obtuse is some of the fuel! If those damn ring barking trippers don't kill em, fire will, I'd just hate to be an Acacia, get your bark ripped off, then burn to death I reckon fire would bring life to many more??? Is this wishfull thinking, Has any one tried to grow one in a garden in metro melboune??? If so how did it go?_ anyone?

Good point To second that, the Obtuse in east gippsland can be only a temporary resident in SOME localities (like plantations) , slowly dying off once the lager Eucy's become established,- could take along time, Quite an important species in beating the other weeds back Hey?????? does any one know wether this species has the nitrogen fixating capabilities , like other species of acacia do? They do grow in some pretty poor soils

    VIC Camping trip

It sort of seems we should have come a bit more prepared i could have brought the trailer with more stuff like fishing rod, wood and tents but wanted to save some money on fuel Even though it got just plain freezing after 4.30, it was still good to meeting ya ed, worth the four hour drive just to see the Redwoods!!, Balzac and myself ended up spoting a few subs in the rainforest behind kennet river. Would have been good to meet some of you guys, bring on EGA!
