No worries. My Hops are 5ft and booming this season-wonder if it's the King Stropharia trench? 14s are the same size as T3s, the filters are different, .5microns vs .2microns. Could get 1000 of each, price would be the same. I'll put a bulk category on my website, and you can use Paypal. No worries. Once I've ordered, I'll post here. Payment would be appreciated soon after I order. I don't think they get cheaper if I order more, but I'll get a quote on 2000 14s and 1000 T3s. Let me know how many T3s you want (much the same as 14s, higher gas exchange). Cheers

Gusseted, 20cm x 50cm x 12cm, industry standard for shitake production and spawn.

I'll get some quotes soon-based on last time, and the new exchange rate, I'm hoping that after postage they'll be around 50 cents each. Let me know numbers and sizes 1) small spawn bags, 2) no 14 standard production bags, 3) Xlarge bags. The 14s are the best all round bag IMO, good for spawn and invtro. I'ld like to order by the end of October.

Go for it Punkin, there is definitely a market for spawn, and I reckon the market in oz will grow. Diggers are selling a small bag of Oyster spawn for about $50 plus p&h, if you can do them for $20, you'll be busy. I started selling spawn while I was a stay at home dad, on the NEIS program. I was still learning as I went, and basically was running my business as a charity-cost me more to make and post spawn than I was charging. Now I work every weekend, some days and nights during the week, and still have 2 young kids, it just became too much work and stress trying to keep (I mean get)organized. The endless questions from keen newbies who have done no research gets frustrating. Doing it all alone is a struggle-but maybe Bourbon girl can be your lackey? I'm going to do a bulk order of spawn bags soon, before the $aus falls again-if anyone is keen, we can split the costs of postage.

Unfortunately my volva was contaminated...ended up chucking it, had too much to play with already.

Hi Watertrade, I'ld be happy to give you some plates-your generosity got me started. Any other cultures you want, your welcome to. Have you tried those bags yet?
-
Those guys fruit so easily on agar, but so far my bulk runs have only given me a few little shrooms here and there.
-
No worries. Kings are still my favourite-easy, tasty, generous. Plates are easy, well worth the effort. Did you want an elm oyster culture? I'ld be happy to do a similar trade as last time!

I've got a bunch of oysters...Pleurotus djamor, pulmonarius, sajo-cajor, cystidiosus, tuber-regium, nebrodensis, columbinus, ferulae, eryngii...and some Hypsyzigus sp. Also got some Ganodermas, a few Lentinulas, Hypholomas, Coprinus comatus, Hericiums. And one I'm excited about, Cordyceps militaris. I've got about 5 plates of each, ready to make some new plates.

Welcome Punkin! Any pics of your LC set up? The Kings are so generous, amazing how many shrooms you can get starting from a single petri.

Thanks for the heads up sharxx. I tried it and it worked-went straight to Paypal. If it doesn't work, shoot me an email, you can direct deposit. For larger orders, I could offer a discount. Costs me about 70 cents each bag, then I've got to pay to post them. If the Aussie dollar improves against the US$, they'll get a bit cheaper. Ziplock sandwich bags are a good elcheapo substitute for small spawn bags. No filter patch, but slightly breathable.

No worries, my ladies recipe, possibly others. I have a flow hood now, so none of my plates spoil, but the cultures certainly spread across my vegemite plates quicker than my other 4 combos (MYA, Coffee MYA, Milo Agar, Coffee Milo Agar). I haven't been able to do the dog food agar either-I don't want to breed meat eating mushies! Gecko summed it up well. I've had some success with cardboard instead of agar. And you can add a bit of your bulk substrate (even in tea form) to your agar.
-
Glad you like the Vegemite recipe. What species have you trialled so far?

G'day, I'm slowly building up my collection of edibles ( thanks J ) I'm still looking for King Stropharia, and would be keen to trade. In a couple of months I should be able to start passing on some cultures if anyone is interested. If anyone has other edibles and they want to trade, I'ld love to hear from you Cheers, W

Been thinking of getting back into beekeeping. Looking into a crane for the ute first. Had a few nice hives in Bendigo, peaceful bees... Then some 'friends' left their old hives at our place over summer, and our bees turned into agro stingers-banged against the windows for 1/2 an hour when we'ld try and rob the hive. To settle the colony down, a new queen (Italian) had to be installed. Apparently an 'evil' queen had taken over our hives. Nothing beats a homemade mead.

If the small of metho bothers you, use "Vanilla Fresh", or other similar products. Similar price to metho these days, made from ethyl alcohol, water, ethyl Vanillin and Vanillin. It's used to clean fridges etc. Comes in a spray bottle ready to go. Beware if using as aftershave-can act like a spray on fake tan.

I get them for $1.60 per pack from an Asian grocery store. 1 teaspoon of agar, 250 mL (1 cup) of water, and 1 teaspoon of nutrient (malt milo or malt or vegemite....or your preferred nutrient. Simmer 'till dissolved. You can replace the water with tea, coffee, beer, etc. If you want to add peroxide, stir hot agar mix with a thermometer, then add using a syringe when the temp is between 50 and 60C.

I rarely do any misting. I get a good first flush from the moisture already in the bags. I just give the bags a quick open and close once a day, once I've cut them open. Mine usually live in the kitchen, on top of the cupboard. I'ld get one of those ear cleaners, dip it in bleach, and dab it on any contaminated patches. Then you could cut them off and chuck them. Take a clean fruit, and do an agar culture. 1teaspoon of agar, 1teaspoon of milo(or your preferred carbs) per 250ml of water. As someone mentioned, bury the blocks when they're done, and get big capped kings. They're still alive, and pretty tough. Have you eaten any yet?

I'll try and find those pics. I'm working every night this week, and the weekend during the day...maybe Sunday arvo at the W&P? There's one pic...I've got a whole series-petri to paper to stable sweepings, but my computer is soo slow.

Hi Tallman, I've been eating Kings for the last week from that batch I made. Watertrade got me started on the Kings-thanks. That top pic looks like some of my bags from last year-I think it's high CO2 concentrations, makes mushrooms grow on top of mushrooms. Did you leave the bags closed while the shrooms formed? The ones I've been eating are from grain substrate-did my back in, and never did a bulk run. Got lots of nice sized shrooms, and a few smaller ones. Some of the bags where mislabeled "Shiitake", so I hope to see some cocopop formations on the bags I labeled "Kings"! Pick off as many healthy looking shrooms as you want-I just twist and snap, and cut off any remaining substrate from their bases. Slice 'em and fry'em. Even the big growths with tiny caps taste good cooked up. Don't leave them too long, or they'll lose their texture. Save a little bit and reculture some on agar. They're so keen, I've got petri dishes full of King oysters.

I've recently slipped a couple if discs, so I can understand your pain. Some good suggestions already, but the one I reckon is the best is exercise. Lots of stretching-breathe through the pain-I find a hot bath really helps. And you've got to get your muscles working properly-after an injury, other muscle groups can take over, and the muscles associated with the injury can waste away-leading to complications down the track. As for native plants-many have been used laid on hot rocks, covered with sand-then you lie on your hot bed. Best down outside! Wilga (Geijera parviflora) is one that comes to mind (contains xanthoxylon), various Eremophillas and Eucys, Santalums are also used-lots of others as well

Strawberry gum is used for tea...forgot the bot. name. Lemon scented gum can also be used, and Peppermint gums....probably most Eucys could be used as tea, but I'ld go easy on them, the volatile oils can be toxic in large enough doses. Pretty common bush practice to add a gum leaf to the your billy of tea.

Hi WT, I'ld love a Lions mane and Piopinno culture...my last ones raced away from me while I procrastinated. Still keen on a few ales and tales... Cheers, W
