Thirded. That definitely doesn't look like any Psychotria that I have ever seen.

Did a few loph grafts, re potted some tricho seedlings, took some hylo cuts for grafting stocks, watered a few cacti, got a sunburnt neck, cleaned up the greenhouse a bit, collected some fresh seed, sowed some of said seed and hand pollinated this nice big loph since it flowered today>>>>>

This is pretty fascinating. Keep us updated spunwhirllin. Did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for, so I will ask here in the hopes of a response. I have a few seeds in at the moment. Hopefully have some luck with those. What I was wondering is if anyone has tried and/or succeeded in grafting the amazing plant? What are the closest relatives of the species that would be a suitable stock for phleb scions?

Seed grown Trichocereus Peruvianus 'Icaro'
tonic replied to Hellonasty's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Went to take a pic of my 'Icaros' this afternoon and my camera battery died. Will get some pics tomorrow and post them up. Loving this thread. -
Does that make you a cannibal?

Chilli, I have always found with TBM's that the more biomass the more they will pump out decent pups. Light, water, sun, food and good potting medium are always a factor too. Good to see you after all these years btw!

Looks like a good hat!!! I used to pee on some of my cacti in times of abundant rain, but alas most of my cacti are on my deck and it did get pretty smelly. I was pretty lazy back then, not to mention unsanitary haha EDIT: I didn't notice any big difference in growth etc. by the way. Though it certainly didn't seem to bother them. Oh and...I have been getting into using worm juice a bit lately on my trichos etc. I use a slow release fert with a lower N ratio for my rarer cacti, used to use MiracleGro on everything, but can't seem to find the stuff these days

Super Pedro looks more like a form of T. cordobensis to me, rather than regular T.scopulicola. Just my 2c though. Over the years I have concentrated more on cultivation rather than concrete ID as things can get pretty confusing. It could be a varietas of scop, but according to Trout's notes it's unpublished and undecided. EDIT: Oh and...I am growing some of said seedlings from seed that I got from PD years ago, but I have long since lost the tags so I don't actually know which ones they are now. Oh well. If someone posts some pics up of their seedlings I might be able to finally figure out which ones they are. This thread may shed some light http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25165

I have a Roland MC-303 that I would like to sell. It's a sequencer with a pretty good drum machine. Though the standalone Roland drum machines are usually much better (808 & 909 in particular), they are pretty expensive. Let me know if interested. This applies to anyone who may be interested, if Scuboh doesn't want it. It's a pretty damn good unit and is suitable for trance. Good for playing live sets too and can be hooked through other midi units and samplers etc; I don't really use hardware these days and I would like to see it getting some use. It's in good condition and works fine. Manual included.

Thought some of you guys might find this interesting. I have an Eileen that etiolated (bottle necked) and to get rid of the unsightly growth I gave her the chop, as you do Anyway she put out the normal pup from the upper areole, then about a month later I noticed that she was starting to pup from the base. This strikes me as pretty unusual, and it's not something that happens too much AFAIK. Thought you might get a kick out of it anyway. Love to hear if people have seen this type of secondary basal pupping from chopped Trichos or just peoples thoughts generally. Eileen. Is there anything she can't do? Phos
-
I swear I read that they didn't usually pup from the base after beheading. Must have been something else. I have been known to be wrong though Hope my Yowie pups from the base and my Psycho0s and all my Trichos really. That would be funkin' fabulisicous! Yeah PD that particular Eileen seems to want to go montrose, or atleast semi. The chopped tip had some pretty funky rib dropping/rib gaining action going on. Hopefully see some more boob action from her. Haha Micro, it's not that they want to escape, it's that the bloody possums around here have a taste for my Trichos and if I don't cage the less spiny ones they get heavily munched, which I don't want happening. P.S: the fat caged column to right may look a little familiar PD? It's a particularly fat SP from PDland.
-
This happened after I chopped it though PD. I thought that was uncommon? I have plenty that pupped without being chopped first. Well I thought it was pretty cool anyway, never seen it do that before, only on unchopped ones. Of course we are keen to see closer pics of Psycho0!!!

Watch out for dodgy plants from this guy. With the prices he charges you think he could sell better plants! Nope, Kosta XXXXXXX (edited by mod) I think the Kosta you refer to is spelled Kostya, anyway I digress...
-
Haha Kosta strikes again!!!

I found the germination rate to be pretty crap. Depends how you store them I guess.

seedling growth altered by different levels of sand and grade?
tonic replied to misteek's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Tricho seedlings will definitely benefit from some added organic matter and will actually prefer it compared to say...Ariocarpus or Astrophytum. Watch that silt doesn't set like a block of stone. Also as the year progresses seedlings become more ready to germinate as the weather heats up. These would be contributing factors. That is definitely an interesting observation though mate, be keen to hear back results in say two months time and then five months etc; Cheers. -
I think that one you mentioned is very closely related jono. Looks more like Tradescantia pallida to me, or similiar. Check it out: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Tr...a_Purpurea1.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Tr...a_Purpurea2.jpg http://plantsarethestrangestpeople.blogspo...ia-pallida.html http://images.google.com.au/images?gbv=2&a...G=Search+Images

Looks more like Tradescantia sp. to me, which is very closely related to Commelina cyanea.

Not really anything to do with Eileen but hey, it's an original work and it does feature a naked female humanoid...WORD!!!

tonic replied to kushizm's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Misread that, sorry. -
Sclerocactus sp.? Pediocactus ?
-
Reminds me of Crotalaria sp. Don't think it actually is but looks to be a pea flower. That might help a little?
-
A woman was kind enough to give me 8 feet of this cactus..

Not the backeberg clone that's for sure. I reckon Smith and Trucha might have some ideas though. -
