  1. Id like to report that my Acacia phlebophylla died a few weeks ago. The shrub lived to 4 years, after which its health deteriorated rapidly. I can't help but think that if i repotted it into larger pots sooner, i might have got a few more years out of it. Has anyone had any luck growing this plant to over 4 years of age? I would also like to hear from those who have planted phlebo in the ground. I will post pictures when i find them. Many thanks to Julian for the seed. Dazd.
  2. Would you say this is also a spachianus? I took a photo when i bought it from a cacti collector but the flash rendered the text unreadable.

    Id help...several lovely cacti

Quote Ballzac"It's not that easy to see in the small pics. I'd say you have scop on the left and pach on the right in the first pic. Looks to be a bridge at the back left. Then maybe a cereus at the back on the right....then maybe pilocereus azureus to the right and mostly out of shot." I would agree with Ballzac here. Also i would agree that the 'monstrose' is Cereus peruvianus var monstrose. Can't help with the others though sorry. [EDIT: spelling]

ThunderIdeal, i can see how you saw really high prices for pythons through licensed dealers. Such shops only exist in SA i believe, and yes the prices are overinflated and also you will need an import license to buy a snake from another state (which is a one transaction license costing about $30-60 if i remember correctly). The best avenue i have found is through reptile classified. There you find people who breed snakes for a hobby and sell the excess clutches. They are generally more reasonable with prices and more often take better care of the animals than a seller (bit like the difference between a pet shop selling puppies and a breeder). I've lost the links of the classifieds i used to browse when i last bought a reptile, but i did a quick google and found a good example that was advertised just today in a classified. Quote"Posted by mikelboy (sydney shire) on 14-Sep-08 01:22 PM AEST To reply to this advertisement email [email protected] 18 month old dimaond python for sale,$180 just for snake, feeds well on hoppers or willing to swap for snake of interest contact me on 0420382203 dont use email" Link to site for above classified Hope that gets you started on looking.

Heres a few photos i've taken of wildlife over the last few years. Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos. Katoomba, NSW. Male Sydney Funnel Web Spider. Blackheath, NSW. Brush Tailed Possum. Katoomba, NSW. Blotched Blue Tongue Lizard. Katoomba, NSW. Unidentified Wasp. (ID appreciated) Katoomba, NSW. Scaly Breasted Lorikeet. Lake Macquarie, NSW. Bearded Dragon. Newcastle, NSW. Unidentified Spider. (ID appreciated) Newcastle, NSW. My 6 year old Diamond Python. RE: the person enquiring about reptile keeping: You can usually buy pythons and skinks for between $50-300 provided you are licensed. Not much compared to a mammal, and a lot cheaper to keep and feed too usually. [EDIT: Paradox, that is a stunning Tassie Tiger Snake. Looks like it may have been a few weeks off shedding - check out the blue milky eyes, a good sign. Such beautiful metallic skin and snake skin is usually at its dullest just before shedding.]

    Trichocereus pachanoi

Trichocereus pachanoi. My first attempt at a HDR composite photo. For photography buffs: I used my mobile photo LED torch to highlight around the cacti as i took 15 varying exposure pics 4-20sec exposure. Photoshop is fun!

    Trichocereus pachanoi

Thanks all for the positive input. As it was my first attempt at HDR, i can see 100 things i would improve next time, but i was happy for a first attempt. For Teotz: here is the link to the mushroom thread with my Coprinus picaceus photo. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/inde...mp;#entry186124 Cheers all! I encourage more members to post plant and cacti porn!

I have heard of most success with planting in winter and a smaller crop also from planting in summer. May be geographically dependant though.

    ANOTHER Acacia ID :P

No detectable activity from several sources. Some lab results detect small amounts i've read.

Does anyone know what species this mushroom is. I took the shot at Lapstone (lower BM) in late march a few years ago. Trying to ID some wild mushrooms to add to my photostream. Thanks.

Looks much more like Coprinus picaceus. Googled away for a while and found some identical looking pics, the texts looks all good too. Thanks all!

Something that trips me out slightly

What is GABA a precursor for T? Some sort of bodybuilding drug?
  17. Has anyone got an idea as to what this cactus is? It has some nice colours happening, perhaps due to stress in the early year? ?
  18. Yes. As i said, all other options have been tried. The patient has no trouble getting out of bed in the morning, as even a 300mg dose of Seroquel is only just enough to get to sleep and achieve a very broken six hour sleep. Antihistamines are useless as the leg cramp/restlessness just compounds the insomnia with no relief. Even doses of Seroquel above 300mg give leg restlessness and add to insomnia rather than relieve it. The best combination for a nights sleep for this patient is 200mg Seroquel + 2-3 bowls of MJ. God i wish everyones tolerence allowed for success with melatonin or antihistamines. So, any contradictions with Harmaline?
  19. The patient is taking Seroquel for chronic insomnia. Not an approved use for Seroquel and a bit of overkill, but as far as i'm aware, there arn't many options for non addictive substances that works for chronic insomnia. Patient has taken every other legal option available with no success. Said patient does not experience any negative side effects from taking this, except the desired side effect, in this case: the ability to fall asleep. As the Seroquel is used just for sleep, and needs not to be taken otherwise, psychedelic experience is achievable. Also, the Harmala alkaloids being smoked here are more for relaxation/pleasant effects rather than a full on psychedelic experience so amounts would be minimal. Is the effect from smoking Harmaline doing the same thing pharmacologically as a brew would?
  20. Refresh old thread... Does anybody know if there will be any interactions with Seroquel (Quetiapine) and smoking small amounts of Harmala alkaloids? Assuming the patient is taking 200mg Seroquel nightly and on no other medications or alcohol. Thanks!

Looks like a Coprinus comatus doesn't it. The pictures ive found show a much shaggier cap which seems to have flaked off in my photos, possibly from rain? I seem to remember the dissolved inky ones around then too, so looks like the one. Heres a few pics of the cap: .

Shot was taken on a Sony DSC-P52, not a great camera but was pretty good then. The newish Sony H2 i have now is really good, next best thing to a SLR. Cleaned up the contrast on Photoshop with a Neutral Density Filter (NDF), and a softening filter. So pretty standard filters i use anyway on my film EOS SLR. EDIT: So, no its not a HDR composite, its a single frame. I just read up on HDR composites, interesting. Im new to photoshop, used a lot of film traditionally. Im really loving some of the plugins, ive only used photography filters so far though. Going to try a HDR composite soon! Cheers for the feedback, anyone got an ID yet?

    ID-interesting one.

Sorry guys, its not varegated Just found a photo of it from 2 years ago, looking nice and green. I agree, the colours look amazing and considering the stress, the plants skin condition looks great. .
