    The Kingdom

I have a degree in psychology, i am almost a fully registered psychologist. I have learnt so much from psychology, i hold it in such high regard, that it sits with psychedelics and meditation on my list of tools that i use/d to learn about myself and nature. It has taught me to try to see feelings as signposts, to stop and explore the process as to what influenced me to feel a certain way. Psychology has taught me to try to always be able to admit youre wrong. Seeing a therapist in action is simply amazing to watch, when there is good rapport between a client and a therapist, you can almost see the energy transfer occuring. However, unlike some other healing techniques, psychological interventions empower the client to heal themselves, essentially teaching a man to fish rather than just giving him one. These are the more complex lessons, psyc has shown me structure to help explore confusion... Most importantly psyc has contributed towards my happiness and increased my awareness. The lessons ive taken away from psychology i have also seen in meditation and psychedelic use, and they have all swirled together to form, in my opinion, an incredibly strong base to climb further. Uh oh using lots of analogies now, i feel a rant coming on To answer your question rev, i see psyc as a looking glass and a mirror, and a path all in one. so yes more than just a career, but it is also that as well!

    Dihydrogen monoxide

Recent posts reminded me of this website, its quite a worrying substance Well worth your deliberation it is truly affecting the Flow of society as we know it http://www.dhmo.org/
  3. Good question fenris and even better theory woof!! i really like that idea of one pointedness. in aikido we are taught to unify mind and body, ie unified point. In budo (way of the warrior) samurai, a cut must involve one action with every ounce of your intent focused on cutting your opponent. both are "ways to the truth" so to speak My theory of the link between meditation and consciousness, is that both make your brain form some sort of representations of the laws of nature. This then gets interpreted by your consciousness as that thing i cant describe with words, but you all know what im getting at. So to draw a link between both theories: There might be a singlemindedness of the laws of nature, or a unified field theory. one perfect realisation/calculation/undescribable act. Sometimes when i get flashes of insight or ah hah moments, i try not to dwell on it coz thats the ego questioning the validity of the statement. Instead i would ideally just accept and move on. however as realisations become more amazing it gets harder to not ego analyse it, hence enlightenment is something that requires no ego. Similarly with psychedelics, in you one pointedness you can see all the answers to your questions. Well thats my rant, i feel better now

    Huh?

I understand that i know everything i need to know Yet I want to know more???????????????????
  6. Salviador

    Huh?

the question was more for pondering than anything else. However i believe that most everyone knows everything they need to know, ie how to maintain life. Animals know everything they need to know via instincts, much the same for humans perhaps?
  7. Salviador

    Huh?

AH HUH! so i dont know everything i need to and thus my want to know is valid yeah i agree with the knowledge vs understanding thingo... the simplest truths are often the hardest to accept, excuse the cliche Actually these two premises together adds to my first statement. It could still be true that i know everything i need to know, and the reason i want to know more is because i dont "understand" yet, ie through experience.

    OK this is really weird

That article reminds me of the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide. It is almost always associated with the intake of fluoride and it is the carrier of many disease causing agents as well as many substances used for intoxication, just look at the website http://www.dhmo.org/ Its like saying cyanide should be banned from all food ingredients because a large enough dose will kill you. Bioaccumulator or not, there is a safe band of use which won't really impact on your quality/length of life.

    Next Brizbane Meet?

Begin rant. Re: "who organises meetings anyways" This mindset is exactly the sort that saw the unravelling of the glory days of brizeb. Of course there is a reason people have this mindset, its a part of our culture of passing the buck, and having the buck removed from us by various interests ie govt, corps, etc. So I'm not blaming anyone, in fact i am partially to blame for the way brizeb is now, just as any other ethnobot in bris is to blame for its current state. However it need not be this way, we have resources, supporters and businesses that are most congruent with the ability to create strong social networks and, at some level, structured meetings and group activities and even socially conscious projects!! In my humble opinion, brizeb was designed to have no head organiser, this was to reduce the impact politics associated with any organisation that humans are involved, with has on the actual running of the organisation. Ideally, this means that if you are a brisbanite interested in ethnobotany, or even from elsewhere but are in the general vicinity of brisbane, then post to the relevant forum/ email group your ideas for an excursion etc I think the lack of politics has influenced the amount of organisation of brizeb, momentum has been lost, key visionarys have seen other visions etc. However brizeb still exists, and the members can be roused with just a flicker of motivation and vision. That is of course if that vision and motivation includes the gathering of people or organisation of meetings. I spose the overall point of this ramble is to emphasise the freedom that any person with an interest in ethnobotany has to gather numbers and connect with fellows of similar interests. So please, if you would like to have more meetings, feel free to organise them yourselves. I personally will come along wherever possible. Resources that might help include the brizeb group @ topica http://lists.topica.com/lists/brizebgroup Ps isnt there some sort of cactus convention at the brisbane botanicals sometime soon? PPS i am well aware of the efforts of ethnobots, andyamine being the most recent significant contributer that comes to mind, so thanks as well to peeps.

    Salvia experiences

Question, salvia is it worth it? Fucken oath. Was my first real psychedelic experience, so i have a soft spot for her, and she for me i think. One of the most spiritually enlightening experiences of my life was with salvia, and some tryptamines. I melted out of reality, then clawed my way back into it. nothing reinforces appreciation for living better than clawing for it also learnt lots of cliched spiritual stuff that had renewed, personal contextual meaning such as everything being one, and nothing mattering apart from the present. Naja Naja, no, salvia works on opiod pathways, weird opiod pathways...

    Dmt as an antipsychotic?

I have recently heard reports that dmt can reduce the need for antipsychotic medication and nervous tics. I don't have much more information than that, other than it was compared to mushrooms for migraines. Anyone else hear of such stuff? Intuitively I wouldn't offer dmt to people with psychosis, but on second thoughts it could scare them straight

    Dmt as an antipsychotic?

Wow, thanks for the replies. In victoria/nsw (cant remember which) tryptophan and tyrosine are given in combination to treat some people with schizophrenia. There has been good success rates, comparable to atypicals antipsychotics. I got this information from a psyc nurse who used to work there, so i feel it is pretty reliable. So the answer seems to be rotating around this whole tryptamine/dopamine thingo. and dmt seems to stimulate the same receptors that are understimulated in psychosis. Perhaps its part of the answer. But at the same time, all beware, have some antipsychotics/benzos handy if you ever decide to do it yourself!!!!

    Portable spiky friends!

Imho, a cactus in existance is better than a cactus not in existance. That particular cactus in the key ring would not have existed because there would have been no need to fill that keyring. I like the idea because the keyring, for me, would trigger calming, exotic, sacred thoughts whilst stuck in traffic or at my desk.

    Iboga in Aus

Are there any places in Oz where we might get away with growing iboga without the need for artificial light or heat? Ie, I live in Brisbane, in a frost protected growing area. i know of there being some success but i think that it was with a heat mat and even then it was iffy at times. What about more north?
