No no, that will never happen, medication is not allowed to make you feel nice as well as better. Only thing about that research is, that it doesn't mention anything about the serotonin not being adversely affected. I would love to get my hands on the original article. There is a well known affect (afaik), that when neurotransmitters have too much of the transmitter floating around they die off/go dormant until the level drops. This research is flying in the face of that theory!! Mind you, the only study that really proved that mdma kills brain cells in monkeys, was flawed because, oops, we used methamph.etamine instead of mdma. I think they used huuuge amounts too, more than most users would take.

so true! the void of conversation. and really why should it be so uncomfortable, animals don't seem to have a problem hanging out with each other not saying anything

Yeah i heard from a cheeky little garden gnome (who didn't look entirely sober) today that it was on the 17th of december at the botanical gardens in mt coot-tha. Funny that any one else heard similar reports? Supposedly that is when the most amount of people would be free, maybe the gnome was just wasted tho, mentioned something about his name being wastl?

Nobody knows what happens when you die
Salviador replied to gomaos's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
Simple answer, when you die, your heart stops, but the world keeps turning If everything was blue, then there would be no colour blue. Coz there would be no other colours to compare it to. Same thing goes for consciousness, everything we know changes, nothing is permanent, but for us to know that nothing is permanent, then there must be something that is permanent. I say that the observing self is that permanence. -

Subject: The Hippy and the Nun A hippy gets on a bus and spies a pretty young nun. He sits down next to her, and asks her, "Can we have sex?" "No," she replies, "I'm married to God." She then stands up, and gets off at the next stop. The bus driver, who overheard, turns to the hippy and says, "I can tell you how to have sex with her !" "Yeah?" says the hippy. "Yeah", says the bus driver. "She goes to the cemetery every Tuesday night at midnight to pray. So all you have to do is dress up in a robe with a hood, put some of that luminous powder stuff in your beard, and pop up in the cemetery claiming to be God" The hippy decides to give it a try, and arrives in the cemetery dressed as suggested on the next Tuesday night. "I am God," he declares to the nun, keeping the hood low about his face, "I have ordained it. You must have sex with me." The nun agrees without question, but begs him to restrict himself to anal sex, as she is desperate not to lose her virginity. God agrees, and promptly has his wicked way with her. As he finishes, he jumps up and throws back his hood with a flourish.................."Ha-ha!," he cries. "I am the hippy!"............... "Ha-ha!," cries the nun......"I'm the bus driver."

Drug Squad arrest man over one of Australia’s largest clandestine drug labs
Salviador replied to apothecary's topic in News & Notices
This could be seen as a win for the war against drugs, and it can also be seen as an indication of how the industry is growing in Australia despite crackdowns. If the argument from intelligence suggests that drugs are being produced outside the country and a bust of this magnitude is found, what does that say about intelligence in Australia? it also indicates that even if this information was correct then the industry is growing despite crackdowns. The question i ask is, why, despite all the efforts and "education" and wars on drugs, are the highest levels of drugs being taken at the moment? is this a legal or cultural issue? The legal stance addresses the behaviour once its already been acted out. The disadvantages of this approach include but are not limited to, reduced enforceability, and they don't take into account the weighting of instant, assured gratification vs delayed, unlikely punishment. Scientific processes have aided in many similar social psychological settings that deal with culture and human behaviour. You identify the causes and weightings of a process or event in nature and draw conclusions that predict how it might be influenced if certain causes and weightings are altered. This seems a more logical process to me, please offer some rebuttal or another perspective that i might not be aware of? I can't go much further without being able to be argued with, but this is what i can see as the unquestionable truth at the present moment. -

sorry it was 125 million oops, here i was thinking it was a significant amount of money -
I wonder how much of the distaste for these words is due to the cultural influence. Ie the unspoken rules that penises and vaginas are not to be spoken about, are to be ashamed of, religious values relating to guilt surrounding sex. I did a cool subject in psyc called human sexuality, which highlighted the fact that there are heaps of slang terms for penis and vagina, even when youre teaching kids you use euphemistic slang terms like "pee pee" or "mutty" instead of the accurate terms...

i am making red wine at the moment. I reckon with enough added sugar and a mother load of blue lotus i could make a kickass white muscat

I'm on a green tea trip at the moment. I've located this magical tea store in the heart of the city (brisbane), just near darrel lea to anyone who's curious http://www.theteacentre.com.au/index.html. Their stuff is the shit, if i get liptons green tea i can feel the caffeine coursing through my veins, but this stuff, leaves me in a calm, alert, alpha like state. My main interest at the moment is the antioxidant properties of green vs rooibos vs cocoa tea. Some places say rooibos kix the pants off green whereas others say green outperforms rooibos. I'm also interested in what sorts of antioxidants there might be and how they might benefit us humans differently? So far ive found a really interesting site that is uber informative. http://www.herbalgram.org/herbalgram/articleview.asp?a=2550 anyone got anything interesting? From what i can tell, cocoa has the most antioxidants and kix ass, however rooibos has heaps o minerals in it that tend to be lacking in our diets these days, manganese, magnesium, calcium etc . Green tea seems to be in the middle with all of the above plus has more research backing it. So T did you ever get around to obtaining that rooibos bush? I'm thinking of hitting up the hotties in the store to maybe order in some seeds/legumes for me. I'll let you all know if i find anything.

Regarding reference to kratom in article "In high doses it is supposed to produce hallucinogenic effects. However, when I tried it - boiling the leaves to make a nauseating tea - it merely made me sick and sleepy. " Sounds like he had too much and it worked too well

Next word, "Chronic".

I haven't heard of this being done before, but my good friend came to me the other day with a dream... To create a substance so powerful, so legal, so essential to the very fabric of western society, that it could never be unlegalised. After much thought, he came to the conclusion that one such drug did exist, but, unfortunately with its current route of administration proved to be lacking in true power. On a dark and stormy night, in the basement of his castle, using parts of dead plants and beans and smelly liquids, he performed unearthly acts upon these once naturally occuring substances. By removing and concentrating the very essence of these substances, he created a crystalline substance, that, if heated accordingly could be vaporised and inhaled... The resulting product produced a powerful fast acting stimulation. A high not unlike what some might consider that gained from meth. This glorious substance he has created goes by another name, much less grand in its profile, yet essential to western and eastern culture as we know it..... caffeine

I think it is legal, the extraction process is the only questionable bit. Mind you first year chem students crystallise caffeine as a part of many university curriculums.
-
Perhaps a more scientific explanation is called for. No doz was was extracted via water/ ether suspension. The top layer was removed and crystalised. The resulting crystal was vapourised in a glass pipe. This is a bit different to smoking ie sprinkling no doz on cigs? you get a more metered dose and less wastage. I think 50mg is a good starting dose, it certainly won't do any harm. Mind you if you are caffeine sensitive or have a weak heart, it might be a good idea to start off at 10 mg and work your way up from there. The effects are very much like caffeine, surprisingly enough, it just hits you in a very short time.
