    Classic move from gov

I think the meth moron Ghostly was talking about isnt the type that may indulge every so often. Its the idiot that dosnet know when too much of a good thing is a bad thing. We probably all know people like that, or have seen them. ive had friends that had behaviours that worried the hell outa me, especially in relation to meth..., even if they didnt get to the classic meth head stage. Ie toothless brainless twits that would rob you blind in the blink of an eye and not think twice about it... unless they thought they might have missed something, then they think about robbing you again. Paranoid, delusional and dangerous. We all have different experiences, and different opinions. Mine leads me to beleve that all 'drugs' have the potential to be both bad and good. Ghostly seems to have had a real doozy of a time with people on meth, so much that they see it as worse than others. Even though they have lost friends to Heroine. Gotta respect their opinion as valid, even if it does fall in line with the government spin of the day. Wont change my opinion overmuch, dont expect mine to change theirs. But im willing to listen, and can easily concede that meth has a really high potential for harm... but id class MDMA as a stim, and dont consider it to be evil. Ive also known truckers that used a bit of speed on their long hauls back in the day, and i felt safer with them being sharp on the road... also knew truckers who thought smoking weed was a good idea and barley managed to keep the rig on the road... but i dint think either should be banned. Id ban idiots if i could! In my experience Heroine was just as bad as meth, guess it depends on availability in your given location at times in your life. But then I had bad experences living next door to alcholics and heroine addicts at different times, but was fortunate enough not to have to live near classic meth heads. To me discussions like this are all about exchanging ideas... which aint much fun if everyones ideas are the same. For me it will always come down to personal responsibility, and i can hardly ever agree with thinking that more regulation from the government is a good thing. EDIT, Ghostly, the self confessed drug user line was in reference to you mentioning using Pot and having legal dramas because of it. You say youll fight for peoples rights to use that but stims are evil. I find that an interesting contradiction, as said based on my beliefs, that all things have merit if used properly, or potential harm if misused. Hope you weren't offended, it really wasn't meant that way! Sorry if it seemedmlime i was singling you out, but ive heard this kind of thing from lots of people over the years and have never really understood how they got to that position.

I find it odd when a self confessed drug user gets all negative about another drug. Be it ciggys v alcohol, weed v meth, heroine v lsd. whatever... its all much the same to me. Hell ive seen people go without coffee/ciggys get just as upset as a junkie who couldn't get their fix... weak people are waek, no matter what their reason... ...and if we are talking harm reduction, lets start with alcohol and sugar, by comparison meth is pretty minimal... but you arent going to get the masses supporting crackdowns on those anytime soon, so we get adds about people scratching holes in their body, trying to bash anyone who gets near em, and robbing their grandma to get their score. Yay for media brainwashing. Me i love most things. Ive loved a few a bit much. Love weed, hate ciggys. But each to their own. Love opoids and hallucinagens, not so big on stims, but hey if thats your thing then go for it. Addiction sucks no matter the drug of choice. As long as you can either, a, hold down a job and pay for your drugs (or even stay on tne dole and manage a budget) or b, grow enough plants to support whatever habit you have + you dont hurt anyone else while your on them, then i dont see how any drug is any different than anything else. Do what you want. Its all about being responsible for your own actions and your own life. If you cant, then you should probably abstain and not mess it up for everyone else. But sometimes people need help learning that lesson. If thats what a 'treatment program' were teaching then id be all for em. Not having a dig at Ghostly at all, i reckon we are pretty much on the same wavelength with what they were saying. just found the take on stims being demonic to be odd. Ive seen some people messed up from it, sure, but IMO whatever 'drug' those people picked would have done much the same. If they lack the education and self restraint to begin with most drugs are a real slippery slope. For those that have fallen down that slope, having help available is a much better option than waiting for them to crash and burn... even if i do think they should have had the brains to not get there in the first place!
  3. I had a trich butchered a while back. I did have it in my front yard, so i guess i was asking for trouble... but someone came up my driveway on a saturday morning and hacked the two biggest colums off. Id been growing it for about 8 years, moved it with me everywhere i went. Was the first cacti i bought, got it one australia day from bunnings, a nice fat tip cutting, had the intention of growing it for a year and likley doing something illegal with it on the following year... never did bring myself to sample it, loved watching it grow too much. Id put it in the ground where i buried my old dog... if i caught the bastard it would not have ended well. In the moment i saw it, and for a few days after i was furious! I calmed down after a while. It started healing, and i didnt loose anything to rot, onky had to clean up a little from poorly done cuts. Figured Karma would get the prick in the end. Sometimes id kinda hoped they stole it for a cheap high... whatever part of my old mate Floyd made his way to the he plant would have torn the bastard a new one. Envisioning their horrendus trip made me smile. Speaking of that cactus, i really do need to get it back into the ground. Just moved, Vic to Qld, and its in need of a spot at the new house. Just cant decide where. Best get it into a pot again for now. Also got a bunch of cuttings to deal with. Drove them all this way, now just need to make a place for them. Two guard dogs, keeps everything in my yard safe, and they have learned not to mess with cacti!

How do you consume raw garlic for antibiotic purposes?

Id heard about garlic being used to keep the fleas away years ago, and back in the day i was too broke to buy him real flea treatments, so i gave it a shot and it worked. Truth be known i was to broke to afford a dog, but he had been so mistreated i couldnt not take him in. He got his half a clove every day for ages and it never did him any harm that i know of. He lived to about 14 years. Came along way from the starved beaten pup I started with. Was an awesome dog, and i cant begin to tell you how much he did to improve my life. Still miss the old boy. Onions are defiantly not good for dogs tho. Thats getting off topic tho, but on a related note, i also found that when i used to consume lots of garlic i didnt get bitten by mozzies and insects nearly as much. (Part of the reason i tried it on the dog as a flea preventative) These days my other half is gets crook from garlic or onion, amongst other things, so i dont cook with them anymore, and get bitten by mozzies a lot more than i used to! Just googled out of curiosity and found this... http://www.petguide.com/health/dog/the-shocking-truth-about-dogs-and-garlic/ seems like i was on the right track afterall, might be something to consider for anyone that likes to avoid costly chemicals. Its not a total solution but i can tell you from experience it realky makes a big differene.

How do you consume raw garlic for antibiotic purposes?

I used to feed my dog garlic to keep the fleas away. i just peeled a clove, bit it in half, swallowed my half and gave him his. Kept us both healthy. But i love garlic, and was single then so the was no one to object to any smells... My brother near choked and tore the lining of his throat when he tried to swallow and then forced a clove down tho, so YMMV.

    taking plants interstate.

Hi all, quick question, im in the process of movung from Victoria to Queensland. Im wanting to know what the rules are about taking your plants interstate. Im mostly only interested in keeping my cacti. They arent anything special, mostly just trichs that I've been growing for years. Sourced from glamouous pkaces like bunnings and kmart. Ive started by taking cuttings to make them more manageable. Other than that there are a couple of common succulents with sentimental value. Are they any issues with quarantine crossing the borders with cacti? If so would I be better off to send the cuttings by post, and just leave the rooted parts behind? Or is it all just too much of a drama and I should just start a new collection when i get there. Ive also got a few ephedras id like to keep if I can, but they seems a bit fragile to stand up to travel, and seem a bit hit and miss when it comes to transplanting. Likley better off to try and source more seed when I get there for those... but any tips would be appreciated. Actually, I think one set a few seeds this year for the first time. better check them and see if they came to anything. Like I said, my collection isnt that extensive, or anything particularly rare or valuable to anyone but me. But I like my cacti, and ive dragged them everywhere else ive moved for many years, so im kinda attached to them. (Someone recently stole 2 big cuttings off my oldest, which id planted out in my front yard. In some ways im glad I never found out who did it. I was... lets just say "quite upset". Im sure you guys here would understand.) Anyway, im hoping to take as many of them wih me as I can, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Cheers Vual, Dont know about legend status, but ive been here a while thats for sure, usually very quietly legendary lurker maybe! Thanks for the heads up on the quarantine station. Was hoping i was being overly paranoid! Hoping i get to make the trip soon. Damn house isnt selling... Im itching to get into the new place and get the garden going, not to mention havent seen the other half in a couple of months now - she's there by herself trying to look after an acre block, and im here with all the furniture trying too keep this house looking good so someone buys it... seem to have it backwards as far as our usual roles go! Anyone wanna buy a house? :D

    Aura - ketamine injections

Thanks for the links Anodyne, the first in particular. Id read about K being used for depression before, but never about it being used in Austalia. I missed the boat on MXE, but when it did hear about it i thought it would have great potential, and i wished id heard about it sooner.

    Aura - ketamine injections

I wonder about administration. Fully believe K could work well in some cases, but i dont know how well id cope with K in a medical setting like a hospital ward, or a consulting room with strangers around. I wonder if they have a psychiatrist babbling at you while you're under the effects. Cant imagine it would be in take home packs ;) How did you find out its K injections? I couldnt see anything on their website as to what the treatment is.

single finger and twin conjoined fingers on plant.

If it sets seeds there it would be interesting to see if the seeds develop into plants with the same trait. You know, just in the interest of science. Always liked mutants. Favorite plant ever had three sets of leaves at each node, rather than just two. Not exactly an ultra rare mutation, but it was a beautiful plant. Anyone breeding ducksfoot, or mongy or abc or anything similar these days? Do those seeds still get around or have they faded into obscurity?

    taking plants interstate.

Cheers people. I'm probably a little bit paranoid. Just like to cover all my bases. Ive had dogs searching for fruit before (Yes, really thats what they were looking for. Had dogs search for other stuff too, but the ones at he fruit fly check points used to find most any kind of plant you had) in nsw and vic... basically id hate to have to unload the whole ute for a few cacti if plant quarantine officers are like nazis in Qld. But it sounds like im over thinking things again. Ill just drive em up, and maybe stack em in a box on top just incase the worst does happen.

LOL. Nice to meet you too Alice Yep thats me, lurker extraordinaire! I check back fairly often, but im not too big on posting, but this community has been a great source of information over the years its often been really helpful. The lessons I learned here have kept me safe all these years, especially through my more adventurous times. Sometimes I get a feeling, hey havent checked SAB for a while, so I log in and Bam. Right there, brand new topic with the answers I was looking for, or discussing ideas I was having, or plants id been thinking about in a trade. love this place. Its been amazing to watch it grow, even if I stick to the fringes. im likley to get back into the forum on a more regular basis. The move to qld will finally give me some space out of town, only an acre, but its a start. But its more about lifestyle change, and getting back to the things that are important. Ive spent too long living in places I wasnt happy, doing jobs I dont like, just so I can pay the bills and repeat the process. Bullit, the stick em in the ute and drive is the current plan. Just wondering whati can expect if I hit quarantine inspections, and how likley the inspectons are? also, if anyone has been through quarantine inspectin, just how thorough are they? If ive got a ute load of crap packed up, are they going to want me to unpack it all and open every container for them to inspect, or would it just be the box their sniffer dog identified? At least im assuming that they have sniffer dogs looking for plants.

    Unfinished purchases/ trades with RAZOR

I was one of the people that had a trade go a little bad with Razor, A few PMs back and fourth and I ended up just writing it off and forgetting about it, it sounded like he was having a rough time and there is nothing to be gained by dwelling on negatives... anyway he eventually came good and I got a package in the mail one day out of the blue after Id forgotten about it. This was before Seth got involved - and something he did completely off his own back. Just wanted to say that I thought well of a guy who would go out of his way to make up something that had gone a little sour - No hard feelings from my end. We've all been through some dark places, some people just get an occasional glimpse, some dwell in the dark for far too long - but in the end I think everyone can relate, at least to some degree. Hope your recent actions mean things are coming together for you Razor - Life goes on, and its beautiful - just remember that and try not to sweat the rest, it'll all work out in the end

Pit Bulls: From America’s Dog to Public Enemy #1

Awesome Vid. I think you nailed it. Train the dog, Punish idiot owners. Any breed of dog can be turned savage if thats what its trained for. I personally think badly raised "working" dogs, like Kelpy's Healers and even border collies are as dangerous as anything else... yet Ive never heard anyone suggest they should be banned.

    Staffordshire bull terriers

Im of the opinion, that in the right hands, most any dog can be raised to be a wonderful companion. My dog, Floyd, is as near as I can tell a cross of a couple of crossbred dogs, from the commission housing area in the town I grew up in. AT a guess I think there is some kelpie, some whippet (as much as I hate to admit it) and some staffy / bully of some kind. He was a half starved stray that the neighborhood kids were using as a ball (kicking/beating with sticks and so fourth) Id mentioned that I was thinking about getting a dog, and some people I knew at the times said we know a staffy pup that needs a home. I took one look at him, he was nothing like the dog Id had in mind, but there was no way in the world I could let him go back to roaming the streets looking for food and getting beaten. So I had a dog. He didnt make a noise for the first 3 days i had him. Ate till he threw up, then ate some more for a little longer. By that stage I could get a lead on him without the poor thing having a meltdown, and before long he was walking pretty well. It took 2 years before I could fill his water bowl with a hose or pick up a broom/rake/shovel without him hiding. I walked him a lot and socialized him as much as I could. He took a lot of training. I took a lot of precautions with him as well. He isn't desexed, and while he isnt aggressive toward other dogs, there were a few minor incidents along the way, always with other male dogs that tried to dominate him. It was many years before I let him run free with anyone other than me, or be anywhere near a child without a leash on. He's now about 10 years old, well Ive had him for 10 years or so - don't know his age exactly I think he was about 6 months when I got him judging by size and lack of much more growth. He an awesome dog and I wouldn't be parted from him for anything. Hes still a "crazy puppy" at times, exciteable and always wanting to play; but just content to curl up at my feet (if he can get away with it) or lie in his bed. He just wants to be around the the rest of his pack. A couple of years ago we got a kitten, They get along really well, and he tolerates her chewing on his tail with no more than a pleading look to me for help - telling him to "get in your bed" when the cat is in it is just plain hillarious! Ive also seen him drop to his belly when an 18 mth old toddler who he'd never met before pointed at the ground, stamped his foot and make something like a noise resembling "down" (which just happened to be the trick his parents had taught their staffy). Its definitely not the option for everyone. I had a lot of time to spend with him. Id also grown up on a farm with working dogs - from as early as I can remember we always had a dozen or so dogs and new pups every year, that when not working generally lounged about the house yard, until I got free of the house and came out to play, so you could say I had a fair understanding of canine nature. But given love and care and a healthy dose of respect, I believe most any dog can make a great companion. Of course Id much rather handle a pup from as near the time of its birth as possible, like I did with all the dogs I grew up with, but if you have the commitment, a "rescue" dog can be as rewarding as any other. They just take more work.

so you're a high IQ dope smoker? try these tests

... well -having obviously been abducted by some evil corporation, no doubt out to use the powers of my mind for no good, I jump the flunky conducting the interrogation - bind their hands and feet and pocket the lighter and remove their socks. One of which is utilized as a gag. Then I find his mobile phone and set the alarm for 45 minutes and explain that they should answer thier own questions hencefourth. Proceeding to the table with the coins I fill the other sock. Now im armed and feeling a little better about this abduction. The now bound and sockless questioner has the gag removed long enough to explain about the boxes of jellybeans. Utilizing the lighter on the interrogators toes soon provides them with the startling revelation that all the beans are infact red (even the blue ones) and that I can have as many as I like. I drink the glass if ice water, grab a pocket full of beans and the jug of wine, essentials now taken care of its time to make my daring escape - so after briefly lecturing the wouldbe inquisitor on the evils of making poor innocent potheads do math - I let fly with the sock full of quaters, rendering them unconscious. My escape should then proceed smoothly....

    Brugmansia first timer

I once made the mistake of picking a brugmansia leaf in front of someone i shouldnt have. I turns out that he didnt comprehend the idea of an admixture - or infrequent use; and proceeded to use it as spin for their daily mix and as a substitute when the pot ran out. A few weeks later I discovered all this when he complains of hearing voices and all sorts of wierd stuff all the time as opposed to just when he was smoking . Possibly he just had a weak mind, YMMV. Anyway the point in all that is to watch the way it can build up in the system and give yiourself a cleansing period between experiments. I never found smoking it on its own to be great - but it mixes well. Mind and body wasnt in the best place when I was experimenting so I never went as far as Ive heard some do. But I went far enough for me, for the time - or at least thats what it told me then. So for now im content. As far as the best plants to start with, my advice is to just see what leaps out to you at the time. If youyve suddenly developed an interest in tropanes maybe they have something to show you. So watch your plant grow for a bit, you'll need more leaves than a seedling can supply and besides they're really pretty, and see if something else of interest comes along in the meantime.

    hydrogen power

Lo all Ive done a little research over the years since I read about a way to supposedly convert your car to run on nothing but water. It still sounds viable, theoretically, but I need more time and space (even just a garage of my own would do) before I can really experiment - and my motivations are currently elsewhere. Anyway the basic theory of onboard generation from water runs along the lines that you can seperate hydrogen and the oxyegen with electricity - then you can use the gases that are produced in various configurations to attempt to run your car. There are drawbacks like hydrogen producing water and rusting out you engine and exhaust (which you can work around) But the benifits of onboard generation is that there is very little hydrogen present in the system at any given time - so even in the envent of a crash you've got no big tank to go bang and obviously that your running your car on water. If its an area your keen to experiment in Id suggest starting with the idea of using a mix of hydrogen and oxygen made via electrolysis of water and venting the gas into your air intake to try and boost the fuel efficiency of your car. Then takle the problem of producing enough gas to run your car on nothing else. And your right to try and avoid paying for plans - theres a lot of info out there for free just keep looking.

    Acacia phlebophylla visit

I assume that the trees were all left as you found them, not wanting to futher the damage. However it would be interesting to see if there was a change in the alkaloid profile due to the severe stressing of / damage to the plant. Would it be possible that such changes, or the environmental changes, affect the ability to reproduce? Like specice that grow seedlings after a fire? The fire would have changed many aspects of the habitat - the soli makeup, the amount of shade, the makeup and number of competing plants just to name a few that spring to mind. Obviously those more educated than I would have a better understanding of such things. The idea is basically that fires in mountains and bushland have always happened. The plants are still here so maybe they have some kind of survival mechanisim. I hope im not just wasting your time and talking out my arse It seems like this species requires very specific conditions. Im wondering if an occasional fire is part of those conditions. Prehaps the very fire that caused so much anguish can eventually help you solve the riddle. FS

    hbwr extraction tek questions

Has anyone got, or is anyone capable of creating, a Kitchen Chemistry style writeup for isolating LSA from HBWR. It may not be practical - an will certainly not be as effecient as chewing the seeds. Consider it a theorectial excercise. I was under the impression that a simple acid / base alkaloid style extraction was insufficient for the amide. Id like to be wrong about that though. So if ones gonme were to attempt this what steps would be reccomended - The goal being to obtain a reasonbly pure substance, preferbaly crystals, or prehaps a liquid extract; that was easier to accuratley dose, storage stable and obviously less (mass) to ingest. Extra credit for removing the nausea from the experience, but thats not the primary focus. Any Ideas? Thanks FS
