  1. I've come across this group via Facebook - Thank You Plant Medicine. They are looking to coordinate a campaign of people talking publicly about their use of psychedelics and other psychoactive plants & fungi. From their website: https://thankyouplantmedicine.com/ Now, I know talking publicly about taking this stuff isn't for everyone. Nor is being on social media. Combine the two, and I imagine that's a bit much for a lot of people. But if you're in a position to contribute to this, I think it would be a good thing. Raising awareness and breaking stereotypes is a good thing. For what it's worth, I'm considering what I'd say openly, and am probably going to overthink it. They've got a fair list of organisations partnering with them too: Chacruna.net, ICEERS, Third Wave, and a stack of psychedelic societies - including the Australian one. What they seem to be missing is much engagement from the cannabis communities. Given the issues we have with medicinal cannabis access in Australia, I would have thought this was obvious common ground, but I'm not sure what they've done to reach out. I honestly don't know if this campaign will really go anywhere, or if they'll even reach their targets. But I appreciate that they are having a go.

    Fuck yes!
  3. I was just thinking that in Australia at least, a lot of the original story has it backwards, or doesn’t show the whole picture. When I was growing up, I was the kid who lived on the farm. When I was first in high school (year 7-8 I think) I was convinced I was poor compared to the kids who lived in suburbia. Even the housing commission kids had more designer clothes than I did. It wasn’t until I was older that I realised a working farm that we owned outright was worth more money than a house in the burbs and a bunch of consumer crap. That’s not to take away from @Micromegas‘s analysis (I think there’s something to that but will need to go and have a think before addressing it directly), just that such parables leave out the reality of wealth in some urban/rural divides.

5 sub prints for $20 forum donation

Not sure if the prints are still available (will pm you @spooge), but this place as given me a lot over the years, so I think a modest donation is the least I can do either way. Edit: have been trying to edit this for ages to reflect that I just realised the prints are gone, but that I don’t care.

    DOSED screening in Sydney

@Pseudo Mexican start a new thread with your thoughts on the film. I don’t need to agree with you (not that we even know if we disagree yet) to want to hear what you have to say.

    DOSED screening in Sydney

Saw this in Melb last night - well worth watching, though not without some ethical complexity.

Adelaide Ethno Meet 2nd Sunday of each month

Not that I’m in Adelaide (or likely to be any time soon), but I’d totally go to this.

Near the pavilion. Hoping current occupants leave soon.

Awesome @karode13, I’ll be there around then, depending on traffic.

    Campervan conversion ideas?

Hey @Humbolt, thanks for that. I’m not looking for anything too modern - old enough so I can do most of the work on it myself, but not so old that reliability goes down and running/repair costs go up. Definitely no pop-tops either. Mostly want to use it for camping, rent it out as a camper when we’re not using it, not much else. Would get a kombi for the right price, but I’ve not seen many for sale. I’m tempted by something like a Mitsubishi Delica, but also know that if I rent it out to ppl, they will inevitably get it bogged because it’s 4wd.

27th? I must have read the replies too quickly as I thought it was this weekend (or I do actually need glasses, something I’ve suspected for some time). Might actually be able to make it then.

    CBD oil?

I’m for people having access to this, but the prices these Aussie websites like that Charlotte’s Web one charge compared to US jurisdictions is insane. The first store in Colorado I picked at random had products with better info (suspect they are better products, but with the lack of info on what’s sold here, who knows?), at less than half the price (much less in some cases). The prices some people are charging is, and let me be blunt, bullshit corporate profiteering. This is why organisations that get plant medicine to people without profit being the main aim are so important.

OK, so there’s to be an inquiry about cannabis in Victoria. (How many has it been now?) https://fionapatten.com.au/news/secured-victorias-first-inquiry-cannabis/ Even though details aren’t up yet, I’ve been told they will be taking submissions. Now, while I trust that Fiona Patten’s heart is in the right place with this as she’s serious about legalisation, there are likely to be a lot of bullshit reefer madness/drugs r bad m’kay contributions. So when the time comes, it will be important to try to balance that with something reasonable. Will post more info as I hear it.

Richard DiNatale doesn’t rub everyone the right way, but he gets why the TGA is problematic: https://www.change.org/p/decriminalise-the-use-of-medicinal-cannabis-for-people-with-terminal-cancer-like-my-son/responses/42203

I’d rather the 2nd or 9th than the 16th (and imagine that 26th is not enough notice for everyone).

I hesitate to call this ‘progress’, but our probable future Health Minister has finally had something to say about medical Cannabis: https://www.change.org/p/decriminalise-the-use-of-medicinal-cannabis-for-people-with-terminal-cancer-like-my-son/responses/42198 Deeply centrist, and possibly will be derailed by the TGA’s recalcitrance and uncooperative Senators. Nice to see it on the agenda though.
  20. I get a lot of ads for herbal/natural products in my FB feed, and this plant has started to pop up: Terminalia canescens - called Jilungin by the Nyul Nyul people. Apparently it helps you sleep, and gives interesting dreams. It's also reputed to be so strong that the leaves can be re-brewed as tea multiple times and still have effects. When I find a source I'm happy has been ethically & sustainably sourced, I think I'll purchase some. But I'm having trouble finding much on this plant in the way of chemical analysis or published ethnobotanical information on it. It seems to be widley distributed across the top end - especially NT and the Kimberley: http://bie.ala.org.au/species/http://id.biodiversity.org.au/node/apni/2916799 Any of you heard/know anything?

    It has begun!
  24. Got my ticket (finally)! Going to be an awesome day; looking forward to seeing everyone again.
  25. Thanks for clearing that up @Insequent. Yeah, I’d love for this to lead to some convictions being overturned.
