  1. Our outdoor cat wears a bell and still manages to catch a few birds now and then, say 1-3 a month that we are aware of, on top of a lot of mice and other insects. But you've got to say, with all the land clearing and other garden makeovers etc that go on, habitat disturbances of animals, that laying blame solely on the cat is something a politician would come up with.

  2. Yeah I'm sort of similar to that, without the thoughts of suicide, I can get on well with other people, but would rather be left to myself. At times when I was younger this was tough as you see everyone else hanging out with groups of friends, being like paris hiltons etc, but you get older, grow into yourself more. Can not agree more with the people who suggest gardening and psychedelics, gardening gives you a hobby to take your mind off of yourself, and psychedelics help you fix these problems, gardening is the solution, psychedelics the cure. Best thing that ever happened to me from a mushroom trip was getting my arse kicked and coming out of it thankful to be alive. But I find the less self conscious I am, the happier I am, keep busy and have a lot of hobbies, surfing, gardening, photography, reading, learning, an enjoyable job, pets, music.

  3. the psys allow the eyes freedom temporarily from poor visual habits eg squint and focus. porr visual habits are the cause of much of the poor sighted [ersons defect the eyes can be strengthened and retrained maybe psys could help with such optic "physio therapy"

Could it perhaps have something to do with pupil dilation? as well as muscle relaxation in the eye area, they say that magic eye images are good for your eyes like that, i find my eyes at least feel less stressed after looking at them, but also when i close my eyes really tight the few seconds after my vision is also much clearer, could be an eye pressure thing.

  4. Im a bit of a believer in evolution, i mean take a dinosaur for instance, look at its body structure, and you can find so many similarities, bar size in lizards, birds and so forth, just like a morphing over time into different species.

Heres a theory i think is possible: Ancient egyptians somehow are what we know of as aliens, extra terrestials, or people from that era, exited this planet or relocated via flying machines, settled somewhere, evolved into there current form, and will come back when mankind rediscovers the being of the sun and mother earth.

eh, anyway back to my brain.

  5. That type of exercise uses the anaerobic system, which uses up stored energy in muscles etc, as a byproduct of the usage of this energy by the body there is lactic acid formed, which is the cause of the bout of nausea, muscle buzz, feelings of exhaustion and whatnot associated with this exercise while the body gets rid of the lactic acid and restores the lost energy.

So basically its getting high off of lactic acid

  6. I seen them at Adelaide last night too, kinda dissapointing as I couldn't see much from where I was and the sound was pretty uneven at times but at one or two times it blew me away this was from just infront of the d entrance area, but they were tight as. Love to see them in November if they come back.

  7. Frankly I am more surprised that the introduction to the big day out website hasn't drawn more ire from the holy righteousness that is the media. Munching on a fly agaric 3 times to enter the site, surely that means that the big day out promotes drug use, does it not? I am absolutely outraged every time I have to visit that site.

    :innocent_n:

But man reading a lot of peoples responses to this on news.com.au, :BANGHEAD2: , very painful. Thing that pissed me off the most , people refering to "my" flag and "my" country, for fuchs sake it is ours, not mine. People have got to realise that the greatest thing about being Australian is that you don't have to be Australian to be an Australian. in spirit anyway.

  8. gotta love the slogan they've thought up to go w/the anti-drug driving campaigne.

    for booze we had

"if you drink & drive you're a bloody idiot"

    for drugs we get

"if you drive on drugs you're off your head"

someones got a sense ov humor in the TAC it seems.

What about the "drive high, people die" one, kinda putting people on a guilt trip in terms of the balance of karma in the world. kinda like "everytime you masturbate, god kills a kitten".

  9. Might be too cold in the mornings still, they generally go too squishy if its cold, if they turn towards browny red they most likely are getting sunburnt, but this time of year isn't the best for aloe vera that far south, the plant may well be concentrating its energys on new shoots.

  10. I like the points Peter Garrett brought up on JJJ about how america is still having trouble finding places to store its nuclear waste, some 40 years after it began its nuclear program (???). Even from a political standpoint about whos electorate the waste would go into and the catfighting that would bring amongst politicians, while entertaining, wouldn't be good.

Probably my biggest concern is that if every major energy consuming country goes nuclear to a large degree, the level of background radiation will not just increase slightly but dramatically. I assume it'd be everywhere in minute degrees, get into the food chain, like levels of mercury have done in fish recently, and you got humans consuming this slightly contaminated stuff, causing what damage over time, who knows.

There has to be a decent use for uranium and nuclear power somewhere along the line, but I'm uncertain whether it is wise to use it as a major energy source, perhaps small quantities like the current structure, mixed in with a lot of other load of biodiverity energy sources. That would be good, but extremely costly.

  11. A meeting of Australia's top policy-making body on drugs today will discuss the creation of three national strategies to tackle alcohol abuse, and substance abuse, including cannabis and petrol sniffing.

Interesting to note whether the substance abuse strategy will cater just for abusers, or also include recreational users. There is a big difference, which is probably why decriminization of small quantites of marijuana is frowned upon by some circles. I think what I'm trying to say is that abuse of an illegal substance is defined differently from a legal substance. If its illegal and you're caught using or in possession you're defined as an abuser, whereas someone caught drink driving isn't necissarily classified as an alcohol abuser.

  12. Damn, I was looking forward to going to hell, must be a popular tourist destination since everyone talks about it all the time and so many people keep telling me I should go there, but I can never find it in any travel brochures.

  13. I think we should figure out how to stop a nuclear reaction effectively (if we even can at all, I don't think we can yet) before nuclear power is used as a main power source, or uranium is sold enmass. nuclear powered cars would be kinda cool, unless you had crash.

But that is Australias goldmine for sure, we should hold off selling any uranium at least until the Americans try to invade (theyre already here, so maybe further? Smart thinking yanks), cash in on it like the oil tycoon countries and all live in gold palaces.

  14. big day out in 99 i think there were stalls selling "legal highs?" like liquid extacy, kava and stuff of the like, made the papers before hand, and got me interested. Got some friend to buy some kava and some tablets of something, but that sort of bought legal highs to my attention, searched the net for these substances and other legal highs. wondered the net and somehow found this place when salvia d was still legal, never got around to it though. bought a few cactuses and other plants from around the place, they grow still. interests in ethnobotany wanes and pans over times, have no idea of half the stuff that goes on in these forums, or what half the substances are, but its fun and interesting, just gotta get off my arse and meet some of you people.

  15. who are these real aussies that you speak of? and what do you want them to do?

    -bumpy

The ones that will complain and discuss but never do anything about it on a deep and meaningful level for an extended period of time, just like a passing fad, something else will come up instead without the real problem getting solved it'll just be pushed down the list of things to do.
