    cats crapping on my culinaries

draging up from the depths of my brain i think i remember that both cats and dogs dislike the smell of citronella oil and that it makes a good deterint, but then again it could another one of those memories that my brain has chosen to fuse, that really has no basis at all

    Making rice wine? Sake.

i have an article somewhere that goes through the whole lot including history etc, but going from memory seriously just buy it,its not that expensive. here is what i remember though its not much 1. for starters you require specific rice 2. the rice need to be de-husked 3.then you need wash and soak the rice for a set period 4. you then "polish" the rice to remove the outer layers of starch (its bad starch apparently) till the texture changes, at this stage majority of the rice grain is removed leaving only a tiny bit of the core 5. this one changes from time to time and on type. either its crushed and slowly heated or its added to heat then crushed once the rice has "loosened" up. sometimes its not even cooked. 6. some sort of funky yeast is used and slowly femented. this is only from memory, i know i have details and specifics wrong combined with the many methods and types of sake its a hard one to remember one let alone them all. seriously the japanese are huge on ritual, and everything being EXACT, leave it to the experts buy it, much easier [ 03. a question on grafting

i musy say a pope madonna chimera growing form the neck (graft) would be an intersting sight this makes me think, 12:1 A great sign was seen in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 12:2 She was with child. She cried out in pain, laboring to give birth. 12:3 Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven crowns. perhaps we could convince ol bush this is a good idea (help the whole apocalypse thing along)

    a question on grafting

i have heard of weird monsters forming from cactus grafts where at the graft site an offshoot appears with charateristics of both Graft chimaera (frequently called 'graft hybrids') are cellular hybrids between representatives of two or more named genera. They are a rare phenomenon arising exclusively in cultivation where two species, frequently of two distinct genera, are grafted together. The mingling of tissues belonging to the stock and scion through grafting in a nonsexual manner. The chimaera come up as a branch or shoot from the point of union which contains tissues of both species, resulting in a arrangement of both species being expressed in the shoot. Such shoots can be vegetatively propagated and cultivated. The formula for the graft-chimaeral nature of such a plants uses a “ + “ sign against the initial letter of the generic name and to connect the two "parent" species (not the multiplication sign “ X “ this show that they are not sexual hybrids). If intergeneric, graft-chimaeras can be given their own genus name (which is a combination of the two constituent generic names) preceded by a + sign. An example is: + Ortegopuntia (Ortegocactus macdougalii + Opuntia compressa). Graft chimaeras can be given cultivar names. The example above has been named +Ortegopuntia cv. Percy, They cannot be given species names. found these pic's A. scaphirostris chimera, A young plant of Ariocarpus scaphirostris grafted on Echinopsis, with a chimera growing from the graft union. Gymnocalycium mihanovichii v. fleischerianum and Echinopsis tubiflora Ariocarpus retusus and Echinopsis eyriesii. but it could all be part of some eloborate conspiracy to confuse us all
  8. actually come to think of it was really asking if anyone has tried grafting on to the areole's and if they had success cause opuntia's have alot of surface area with alot of areols, so would make sense to go this way if it does work (it should theoreticly i mean they are points of growth) though again not sure, thats why im asking i quesse so has this been tried and successfull, cant find any decent info on the net about this. no wait found this (damn Peireskiopsis isnt big enough) CACTI ON VERTICAL STOCKS

    grafting with opuntia

just a general question, any one tried this had success etc, do you think it would be possible to graft more than one cactus onto a single pad. have a few youngins i would like to get a push along and was thinking that could use the opuntia to give em a quick nudge for a couple of months, also my other motive is got an ariocarpus that i would like to save and a graft may be in order (i think i amy have answerd my question about how many per pad, but still curious if people have tried) [ 14. i have a few Mammilaria craigii and dont look much like that one mine are lighter green and have the same radial spines of that one but they also have a considerably longer centre spine that is red, read some where apparently that centre spine is characteristic of craigii though cant remember where i read it and probably completly of topic and nowhere near what you were asking sorry

cacti guide only had a quick look around this sight, some good pics of broad selection of some of our spiny and not so spiny friends. have a feeling this sight may have already been mentioned once, but hey twice cant hurt unless it involves big sticks and the whacking with

people traveling between bris and byron

was wondering if anybody happens to travel between byron and brisbane a bit or will be during the uni holidays coming up in about 3 weeks time, and possibly not mind giving myself and my other half a lift down, or back up or even both. can and will contribute to petrol and conversation. taking the girl camping, she doesnt get out in the world much and wants to go to byron for a couple of days, and trek in the wilderness. We are both poor students and dont have a car so usually makes such adventures difficult. So would be much appreciated, try and also make it up to the person with seeds or plants in the future if intersted.
