Experiments getting better sleep.
MeanGreen replied to Alchemica's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
6g of kratom and a nice joint will put most people to sleep pretty quick. Agitated, vivid dreaming sleep, but sleep all the same. Certainly don't recommend it everynight though. -
I've had 100% success on about a dozen cuttings so far using an aeroponic cloner and some IBA (clonex). If I understood right you say your trees are blooming? If they set seeds that's a great way to go for propagation. I envy you if you live somewhere Mitragyna grows wild. Here's a successful tray of clones I took from ~5 months old seedlings: PS: If you are the kadakuda from kada's garden I just want to say thank you, wish you site was still up and god bless thewaybackmachine

#1 & 3 definitely looks like Alba to me, the long petiole and wavy margins are a couple factors. #2 Could be viridis, not sure. Please take a look at the undersides of the leaves and look for weird vein growth like on this 1st pic: It's not always visible on every leaves but viridis usually does that. Here's a couple alba leaves in comparison: And another type of viridis, var. narrow leaf:

Plant Induced Sleep Paralysis
MeanGreen replied to MeanGreen's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
Thanks for sharing. I've never sleepwalked as far as I know. That pisswalking problem sounds aweful, and hilarious at the same time, not gonna lie haha. Do you remember any of it when you wake up, or qny of the dreams you had while this happened? I read many similar reports about seeing someone in the room who is supposedly there to harm you, fortunately this hasn't happened to me. I almost always fall asleep with a youtube video on, I often put on any random Terence McKenna talk just for that purpose, I find his voice and tone sort of hypnotic. And when I get sleep paralysis I can clearly hear the talk, this has allowed me to roughly time the duration of my paralysis by remembering the first sentence I hear when in SP and rewinding when I snap out of it. I have used and abused many prescription and illicit opiates but this had never happened to me before kratom, I really think one of the many minor alkaloids in it acts on sleep in a weird way. -
Plant Induced Sleep Paralysis
MeanGreen replied to MeanGreen's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
That's a very fair point about this being a shortcut, and I think it's also why it's so scary for the people who have this happen spontaneously without working towards it. I mean if you worked for month to try and achieve sleep paralysis, when you finally succeed the feeling would probably be more of joy and astonishment than fear. That's why I intend on learning more about this, I bypassed the first step but I'm willing to work for the next one. -
Plant Induced Sleep Paralysis
MeanGreen replied to MeanGreen's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
Thank you, it's good to know I'm not the only one this happens to. I will definitely post some updates whenever it happens, I had one this morning waking-up which is what prompted me to create this thread. I do get somewhat proper sleep, at least in terms of hours, but sleep on opioids in general is not as restful. Since I work from home I often take naps and I feel like this might contribute to the paralysis, like it messes-up my circadian rhythm or something. Either way I honestly do not want it to stop at all, I hope to take advantage of the situation by grabbing my balls with both hands and train myself to resist the urge of waking up. First off there's this sound, that goes up and up and louder and louder, it has to reach some sort of climax at one point I feel like. What happens then? Probably my head imploding, but you never know haha. And then there's this astral projection thing which is really interesting to me. I literally just found out about Robert Monroe, and it's freaky how much his accounts of sleep paralysis and OOBE match what I experience: http://www.lucid-mind-center.com/robert-monroe-out-of-body.html I'm very intrigued by this state, and hey, who doesn't like free, natural, endogenous and surprise psychedelic experiences that you're able to snap out of at will? -

Just wondering if any of you know the risks involved with theoretically exporting forbidden seeds and/or plant material from Europe to Australia? I don't really think they could do much, but wondering if there's some kind of international cooperation between customs for that.
-
Haha thanks Good to know that you aren't risking much more than a destroyed letter by importing banned seeds/plants.

[ENDED][GIVEAWAY] Fresh Kratom Seeds From Malaysia (Mitragyna speciosa)

Last few days to participate, winners will be picked on Sunday. I asked the local name of the Green Malay and here is the answer: Here's a pic of what might leave Malaysia soon : -
Well life expectancy is an average, if most died before 18 you can't really say people used to live as long as we do. There probably always was some people who lived to be 90+ years old, sure, but they've never been as numerous as nowadays.

Let's just put it like this, for a substance to have any effect you need at least a molecule of that substance, right? Homeopathy dilutes compounds down to an active dose which not only you cannot detect with the most advanced analytical equipment, but often comes down to less than the weight of one atom (!) Add to this the fact that Boiron has an almost complete worldwide monopoly on those little sugar balls they call pills, and you'll realize the ones doing lobbying are not the "anti homeopathy" but actually quite the contrary. Up until recently homeopathy was reimbursed here in France, and the media pushed it hard, making beaucoup bucks to fucking Boiron labs. Fucking scam. It's the only medicine which doesn't need to prove its effectiveness and safety before being put on the market. And when you do a study to show the effectiveness of something but it doesn't succeed, you proved its ineffectiveness. How can anyone in their right mind and with a basic understanding of science believe that diluting pus, feces, blood, lead or arsenic down to the weight of an atom will heal anything is beyond me... Even without that, wanting to trust 16th century pseudo science is nuts, just compare the longevity back then with now.

Cactus of the month year day thread? Which cactus is really shining for you right now?
MeanGreen replied to ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I don't agree at all Sagi, in my experience caespitosa seedlings grow like this, one head and then pup from the areoles: Plus this 3 headed one came from a batch of about 100 seedlings which all are regular williamsii. Dichotomous seedlings are pretty common, here's what they grow up to look like: -

Horsey I think those plants you said survived winter are Schlumbergera aka christmas cactus. Lovely pink flowers. -

What did you do in your sacred garden today?
MeanGreen replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Ethnobotany
Went to water my plants which are and have been chilling in a neighbour's veranda for the winter. Some of them really didn't like the environment change though, my Mimosa tenuiflora lost almost all its leaves. As did most of my kratom plants (thankfully my best ones are in the grow tent doing good). Some of them fare better though, so it allowed me to identify the hardiest genetics I have since all of them are seedlings. All my Phalaris species have dried up but I'm confident new rhizomes will emerge this spring. The cacti are doing great though, just sleeping peacefully. -
[ENDED][GIVEAWAY] Fresh Kratom Seeds From Malaysia (Mitragyna speciosa)
MeanGreen replied to MeanGreen's topic in Seed & Plant Swaps
Thank you so much for this awesome story Darklight, you guys really did an amazing job and I will forever be grateful as I'm sure you played a big part in popularising this miracle plant. Especially when you consider that big "false kratom" debacle back in the early 2000's where my compatriots Bruno & friends at ebotashop flooded the market with false kratom (M. parvifolia I believe). This could have caused everyone to just brush off kratom as ineffective and killed the market in the egg... I think it's extremely unfortunate that Australia decided to ban it, especially during an opiate epidemic. How can you consider an opioid which doesn't cause lethal respiratory depression as not having any medicinal potential is beyond me... I really hope this will change in the future and you guys will be able to pick back up on the micropropagation op. With your climate and proximity to Indonesia you could have those kratom forests I dream of over there in Oz hahaha. Could you share a bit about what the selection process was for the Rifat clone? Was it simply the most vigorous sprout of the batch of seeds? If you do a talk about this at EGA I might just have to fly my ass over there haha -
