  1. Hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys made it along to the CSSA Annual Spring Show on the weekend? There's been lots of talks from you guys up north of visits to cactus lady's collection/sales over the weekend, but no mention thus far of anyone going to the show down here in Melbourne this weekend. I went along with a few friends and picked up some great bargains, got there early in the morning and collected a whole bunch of penis plants for $10 - $15 each, along with a bunch of sempivivum tectorum and sempivivum kosanini, love these little guys, so beautiful. My mates decided to splurge and spend a $100 or more each on some peyote, hehe, very nice plants, gorgeous, magical auras. Also went back again the next day and grabbed a bunch of flowering echniposis to add some colour and variety to my collection, found a gorgeous yellow flowering mammiliaria along the way too, as well as an aylostera pulvanata gorgeous clumper with beautiful orange flowers popping up all over. It was full on cactus free for all this weekend! hehe! So many cacti, so little money, lol. The fun didn't stop when we left the show, went back to a mate's place to drop him off and picked up some gorgeous new peruvianus and bridgesii cuttings i didn't have yet, that will no doubt make gorgeous new pups in short order. I shall enedeavour to take some pics of the lattest additions to my collection and post them up here in the next few days, just need to get the camera charger back. All in all, a fantastic show, heaps successful and a fairly large step up on last years event. Met plenty of fantastic people, had a wonderful time talking cacti, and i'm eagerly anticipating next year's event already.

    shamanism and technology

I don't think technology is taboo at all! If anything i think technology and shamanism are only just begining to make much needed connections! It is the unification of our ancient tribal/shamanic rituals with modern technologies that is taking us to the next step in human evolution. The idea that we could grow a traditional sacred entheogen for years in the earth, through organic means and then at the end of the day the experience we derrive from it is one of multidimensional expanded awareness brought about through unifying the earth/plant experience with our more modern day influenced set and setting thus bringing about in evolution in our own consciousness and the consciousness of the planet as a whole, is simply spectacular. To experience the rememberance of your eternal self brought on by pushing triggers and buttons in a modern day context is monumentally mind blowing, at least to me. I think if anything, in the near future we will see a massive prevalence/acceleration and expansion of the inclusion of modern technology with ancient shamanism, it's natural evolution.

    cacti identification ID

My guess is a peruvianus of some sort, it's too disimilar to the trichocereus knuthianus that's around town. Best bet as has already been suggested is to plant them out and grow them for a while and see how they go. Some input from some of the more experienced collectors might be helpful. Peace.

Rooting Trichocereus cuttings / pups ?

Larger root base, and more pups. Got a few going in the garden like this atm, once rooted they provide a substantial base for a rediculous proliferation of pups. Best example i've seen of this was a 7' Trichocereus Spachianus that had lost a few limbs, they lay on the ground for a while and when i came back and saw the plant a few months later they were covered in pups. Worth a shot if u've got the cacti to spare, be interested to see what comes of my foray into horizontal plantings this season. Peace.

    eileen and 'super pedro '

Hey jono, i would be interested in some of your eileen, i assume your measurements were meant to be mm? I have a variety of very interesting and proven performers for trade. Ironically i have a peruvianus/macrogonus mid section cut or practically the same dimensions you mentioned already, sitting right next to me, it is 70mm x 60mm. Attatched is an image of the plant it came from. Let me know if you are interested, i also have plenty of other varieties, this one just happens to be popular and i have a piece handy, ready and waiting to either be shipped or planted. Peace.

    bridgesoid ID please

As BlackDragon already attested they tend to shift between spines and no spines dependant upon the environment they are currently growing in. The one's i have are all relatively spineless on the older growth with a few spines sticking out here and there, the new pups coming through however are agressively red spined, whilst the older spines are quite grey and dull. Hope this helps!

    bridgesoid ID please

I don't know it's origins but would be interested to hear anything about this variety of bridgesii as i have had a few cuttings of it growing in the yard for a while now (not from UT, from local grower, identical looking clones tho), tis much slower grower compared to the other varieties of bridgesii growing next to it, and far slower than traditional pachanoi growth rates, but it's a winner. About all i can tell you about it, other than going into depth of experiences, ie travelling through higher dimensions, connecting with angelic realms, being uplifted by a choir of angels in divine ecstatic union with the source of all that is, oh yeah, it's a winner alright. Peace. Love and Light Always.

    Cosmic souvenirs

That within us resides All That Is, that we already know everything because it's all inside of us already, and we are just undergoing a process of rememberance and awakening. How far one takes this realisation is up to them, but it is abundantly clear from this that we are the creator, there is no seperation.

    Music Suggestions

For some mind bending, consciousness expanding, spiritually elevating and divinely revelatory psytrance might i suggest a healthy dose of Electric Universe - Cosmic Experience, Electric Universe - Silence In Action, Space Tribe - Thru The Looking Glass, Space Tribe - Timestretch, Space Tribe Music - Colour Saturation, and Electric Space Phenomenon a collaboration between Electric Universe and Space Tribe. This flavour of psy is not very everyone, as it is quite rediculously high frequency, but will provide the listener with a plethora of divinely cosmic experiences. So if you like your psytrance to elevate and expand your consciousness to the infinite and instill a sense of rememberance, divinity, sacredness and revelation then this is for you. Enjoy. Love and Light Always.

    'Super Pedro'

Unfortunately many of the original botanical names have long since been lost, so most cuttings just go by a rough "that looks like this" case of identification. As such there have been a number of questionable IDs made thus far, will post pictures once they're all growing for better identification purposes. I'm not sure i've seen this cuzcoensis variety you mention, tho in all likelihood i have. Some photos would help for an ID. There has been much cosmicity in the wake of all this cosmic cacti being brought onto the market, it's good to see, wave after wave after wave after wave of divine cosmos! I love cacti!

    'Super Pedro'

I love these guys, Super Pedro has been around for a little while now and he's been expanding peoples awareness quite effectively, in fact since this post started there has been much buzz about him. Glad to see we have a consensus on his possible origins, pach x scop makes mucho sense after seeing him grow for a while. Got a few nice big chunks of him all set for a monsterous season. Picked up a few varieties of peruvianus/short spine peruvianus that came from the same locale recently, will post some pictures once they've had a chance to root and put out some pups. Should end up with an interesting variety of cosmic cacti from up there by the end of this season. Mmmm, Cosmic Cacti! Peace. Love and Light Always

    ID help - cactus

Hey Rimbaud, i would suggest that they are fairly standard (whatever that means these days) trichocereus pachanois. Some close ups might help, but they look distinctly like several dozen trichocereus pachanoi sitting in my backyard, tho somewhat blue-er this could be from environmental/growing conditions, tho perhaps they are a cross of something.

    Some Garden Shots

Yup Will do! Will no doubt be looking to do some trading very soon through the forum and perhaps swap'n'sell website too! Lots of cosmic cacti getting suited up for a big season of chsk chsk pskewwwwwwww! Plenty of new additions to the collection of late, mmmm infinite expansion of the divine cosmos! Will put some more photos up in next couple of days of other stuff as/when i can. Love & Light Always, HyperSpacePixie

    Some Garden Shots

Haha, no, it came from a friend who lives way out east, on the edge of suburbia verging on the great beyond. If anyone knows the correct ID for this particular plant i would be most appreciative, it was given to me as a form of supposed longg spine peruvianus, but i don't believe this to be so. Thanks for the welcome guys!

    It's Spring!

Thanks Chilli, Good to hear, and get some closure on the matter. I was thinking maybe it was some sort of short spine peruvianus or a pachanoi, and had considered it being a macrogonus after originally seeing the ID thread i believe. So we're going with marcogonus then, hehehehe.

    It's Spring!

Wow! Nice pics man, great to see everyone's cacti starting to take off like wildfire now that the growing season is upon us once more! Will try to post some pics of my collection over the weekend! Teehee! Question for you Chilli, in the third and fourth rows of pictures, the central picture in each row, what is the identity of this variety of trichocereus? Is it simply another form of pachanoi or something different? I have a number of cacti that look almost identical to these two specimens you have displayed and have had a bit of conjecture with friends as to what we believe it to actually be, pachanoi or peruvianus.
