It might be a bit late in the growing season to graft, especially if its your first time. Maybe do what glaukus says but i would suggest that it be buried in very coarse scoria or pumice with no organics, so its like a top dressing. The new growth with proper light and feeding should cause it to fatten up at the top, but with the skinny neck that will be supported by the top dressing. You can always look at grafting in Spring.

Perhaps cutting the etoliated growth and grafting it would be a good idea. The healed base of the plant will also pup. This is quite bad etoliation and it wont return to a nice shape, so grafting can turn one mishapen loph into 2 - 3+ normal shaped lophs over time.

Speed growth comparison of trichocerei species
Conv3rgence replied to sagiXsagi's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I guess it must depend on climate and growing conditions, as well as the specific clone. For instance, Yowie would be 9 while the rest of my Pachanoi would be around 8. Psycho0 and Eileen at 9, while the rest of the Bridgesii around 8. Here in Perth, my experiences would be as follows - PC Pachanoi - 9+ Pachanoi - 8-9 Bridgesii - 8-9 Peruvianus - 7-8 Cuzcoensis - 7-8 Scopulicola - 6-7 -

Z Perhaps you need to stress her a bit like Bruce.

Decreased rot vulnerability is not the main reason. A proper draining mix and correct watering achieve that. The point is increased fine root growth and faster above ground growth.

Conv3rgence = barely above average one way of the other... pretty inconclusive results actually Introvert(50%) iNtuitive(28%) Thinking(3%) Perceiving(12%) INTP But those percentages are not very convincing, apart from introvert. I was expecting a bit more from Mr. Jung... A lot of these questions were vague and dependant on how you defined the terms of the question... A lot of reference to "people"/"other people", but as we know everybody is different. So if you ask me if I'm comfortable in a room full of people.... it depends what kind of people!!!

Yeh I havent pruned the root, this is my only Kotschoubeyanus thats not still in a seedling tray. I will be trying this technique with some of my seedlings when they get repotted next Spring/Summer, but not with any bought grown specimens.

I made a post a few months ago asking if my Peruvianus had 'witches broom' since it was pupping like mad, I think it was 7 pups. I got the Peruvian free and it had 7 pups at the time, and a healed split at the base from overwatering in the spring rains. I didn't secure the pot and on the way home, it toppled, breaking the tip off near the base. I cleaned it up and cut it neatly, and then rooted the tip. Concerned about the possibility of witches broom, since that time I've kept the main plant quarantined and without any fertiliser for observation. It's made 4 more pups since then, and 2 of those are pups on pups. The rooted tip hasn't made any pups and has put on a couple of centimetres of normal healthy growth. Here's the rooted tip. Here's the overpupping crazy base plant. Growth looks normal not mutated, but ridiculous number of pups. What's the deal here? Is it witches broom? I've even kept a Cuzco I don't like next to this guy to see if he catches anything, but so far nothing... Can someone explain this pupping to me?

Thanks EG, this is good to know. 11 pups on this little stump is absurd though, I'm going to cut off the smaller ones.

lol wat its gone already?

Well yeh I do like her so I hope its not infected with something. A few things in favour of not being infected are that the rooted tip isn't pupping, the base plant hasn't affected the cuzco i put next to it, and the new growth on the base plant looks mostly normal apart from 2 pups on pups. I have no idea if this is a seedling or cutting, but the diameter of the base and distance between areoles is small, it could be a seed grown.

I've just pruned my Hemia and put the leaves in a jar for sun fermentation. Its a closed vessel, i didnt want contaminants. I didnt add the stems, I only used the flowers and leaves. Maybe I shouldnt have chucked out the stems, but they were mostly woody. Anyways, I'm interested to see what happens. There wasn't much sun today so I'll ferment one more day in the sun before testing, and I intend to not strain it but use the lot.

A while back when it was legal and I was young and foolish, that synthetic shit gave me a seizure. It made my heart pump like it was going to burst, all my muscles spasmed and I couldn't control my body, I couldnt call for help because my jaw was locked, and then I blacked out. Woke up very confused in my own vomit and didn't know where I was. Stupidly I decided to smoke some more and had a second seizure, and when a came to the second time I threw the stuff out.

glaucous powder coating on cacti and succulents is damaged by the oil in human hands so it would no doubt be removed by pure neem oil...
