Here is an interesting cacti posted in the trichocereus appreciation Facebook page by a guy who lives in Peru. He has some amazing cacti. He said this cactus is from the isla del sol on lake titikaca which borders Bolivia and Peru. I once visited that place but didn't see much as I was vomiting all day from food poisoning, not fun. What do you guys think it is? Looks very cool.

cheers!

I found this guy which has a similar spine structure. This cacti is from coromandel cacti in New Zealand. It is suppose to be a bridgesii hybrid.

Trichocereus from isla del sol ID
Hukstable replied to Hukstable's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
EG, I sent the guy a message asking if he collected any seed or is able to go back there in future. Ill let you know when i get a response. From Michaels pics above it looks as though there are plenty of opportunities for seed!!! Thanks Michael nice pics. -
Thanks EG, yes its very intereresting. Without the spines its looks like a pachanoi. Those symmetrical spines are cool, i havent seen that in other cacti pics i have seen. Ill have to look up the cacti from Rio Lurin.

Trichocereus from isla del sol ID
Hukstable replied to Hukstable's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Unfortunately i dont think its for sale and i live in Australia so probably wouldnt be able to import any way. I think you would have better luck importing to germany. Im happy to pass you on the guys details if you like. Im sure he would be happy to speak you about it. Maybe we will get some seed someday. Or someone could visit the isla del sol and get some!!! -
Oh yes Len! 45!

Trichocereus from isla del sol ID
Hukstable replied to Hukstable's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Thanks EG! I contacted the guy who collected and sent him your link. He said that he took this cutting from the plant you have posted above! Looks very different in terms of colour etc. I wonder if it will stay like that due to different growing conditions. He said he spoke to the locals and they called it San Pedro and was medicine to them. -
That is an awesome plant whatever it is. Very cool blue! I want.

Cheers

I asked Prier if this plant was a scop x pach but he said that it was a pachanoi (woolunda monster pedro) that a friend had imported into australia in the early 90s. It looks like a long spine scop. Would be interesting to know where it came from. It is supposedly semi monstrose and morphs often. I hope it stays as 4 ribbed. Do you have any pics of yours?
