Hi all, im back in Oz for a few months after getting stuck in south América for 3.5 years... who's still kicking around here?
-
nice one, I just made a submission... I'm keen to hear more about your initiative...

So, let's get it going again. I'm going to quote the last thread for the rules: "HOw this works is you post somthing, a plant or some seeds etc. To give away to the next poster at your postage cost. By posting you take the offer above you. The next poster claims the offer by saying taken and then posting their offer. This goes on forever. For this to work you really must offer something and come through with posting it. previously this thread has failed due to people failing to post things asking questions breaking into conversations etc. If we all stick to the same format for the posts it makes the thread easy to read. Ill post a few post below so its easy to get the idea. Any questions please pm me *Australia only to keep postage managable and please no posts besides taken with offers* *All trades must be legal and within regular forum rules*" If you have any questions, use PMs. And let's follow the format as seen here in posts 2 and 3... ****Note: There is now a minimum post count of 25 to partake in the free trades. If you haven't got that many yet, introduce yourself and your garden and you'll get your count up pretty quick.... ****Note: Post a picture of your offer also.

What to do with full variegated cutting?
MountainGoat replied to Pedro99's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Grafts as normal, but keep the cover on for an extra week and keep out of sun for 3-4 weeks when it’s fully inflated... grafting varis has a much lower success rate then regular grafts. Or at least for me... I would use your biggest stocks. Also, i would graft the tip, and slab graft the rest... -

Latua pubiflora - "Tree of Wizards"/"Socerers Tree"
MountainGoat replied to waterboy 2.0's topic in Ethnobotany
Boo, they’d had stock when I grabbed the link... They restock every season, so it’s a great way to know their seeds are fresh. Their jubaea seeds sell out fast each year, it’s a protected species so there’s extremely limited seeds.... -

please do... the calafate is an amazing berry from patagonia, and the jubaea is a HUGE palm with tiny edible coconuts... highly recommend both. I'd line up and buy some berries and cocos from you if you get them going (i'm too far north to grow them).... -

I'm almost certain I've read of SAB mob in Tassie growing it... Hey @Enjaytee, if i was going to get seed, i'd be getting it from here... http://www.chileflora.com/Florachilena/PHP4181/drawitem.php?G_FG=0759&G_LANG=E&G_NF=Solanaceae There's also a few other epic plants from Chile that would be well worth growing if you've got the conditions... especially, Berberis microphylla (Calafate) and it would be pretty cool to have a Jubaea chilensis (Cocito) palm going... I should be over there around xmas, if I get down to Osorno I'll try to source some seed for the SAB gang... -

Sweet! Congrats @totemgoat! Pretty epic you've pressed to vinyl too!! I dig it, not my style of music but I can appreciate the intention and release for sure... -
Booo, yeah the red is a tricky one to propagate and keep alive... Mine is just coming back, I’ll get cuttings for both of you this week...

Check out what my neighbour has in her yard!
MountainGoat replied to Acacia's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I don't know what's good where you are. I use volcanic rock, locally (<50km) mined called quincan... Or I sieve out the fines from my local river sand... -

The skin damage is from humidity most likely, it happens a lot for me up in the tropics... Just a note, that maybe you know already but i feel drawn to share. If they are fresh cuttings, let them heal for at least a couple of weeks before putting them in soil to root. And when you do put them in soil, make sure it is bone dry for at least a month... It looks like your soil is wet and slow draining... If you use sand, make sure its gravel size... -
Cool, next time i've got a bit for trade i'll post it here on SAB... Probably not this season though....
-
they're kinda similar, but i'd say it's pretty unlikely that it's long form. It looks like a big segment of short form. long form gets big, like up to a couple of feet+ and has very few aeroles... Far slower growing than short form in my experience...
-
Hey, i've just put up a bit of long form on the fb auctions... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1316453921842330/permalink/1361817157306006/

Hey tribe, I'm looking to get some more varieties of chacruna and aya. If you've got some different one's please hit me up with a pm. I've got plenty of awesome trades... I'm especially interested in tracking down the "5 leaf" chacruna... I've got cielo, ourinhos, and black aya already, and also plenty of luna chacruna... Anything other varieties and I'm well keen... Cheers, MG

Its a slow grower and they throw very few aeroles (for new pups)... Grafted they throw even less... I've had mine for a few years and i've only managed to propagate it couple of times...
-
a 4 ribbed pach.... dude, i got see some photos of that... please... I've never seen a 4 ribbed pach. I think if you're going to call it ogun, you'll need to get that seconded by someone who already has a definitely legit piece of it... I know of several people with it. The next hype fad will be Zeus I reckon...

Thanks mate, i love it even more now!!! I’ll grab some photos of mine in a bit...
