you could always plant deep but not backfill with dirt if your concerned about the graft going mouldy or something ??id imagine there would be a pretty decent callous formed by now though. this would also be helpfull for watering, ive seen it being done with natives being planted and the intension was to leave the hole there to catch water as it ran down the hill
