The True Temple He who does not know through subtle inquiry the truth that God is himself the temple for both the jiva and the world will build a temple consisting of many enclosures [prakaras], restrict God to an idol, and perform elaborate and magnificent worship to it. - Guru Vachaka Kovai

I've got seeds from my trees if you want a few. No cost. Or I might have a few small saplings I could part with for a nominal cost.

Hope you have an excellent day in the sunshine and let your troubles fall away.

Happy ganja day again. May your chalice be full and your eyes red.

Interesting paper that was brought to my attention
Strontium Dawg replied to trucha's topic in Cacti & Succulents
At the same time, Echinopsis sp. seem to be a last resort for most insects. Maybe for some, like caterpillars. Snails in my yard will eat certain tricho tips preferentially over anything else. They do avoid the cacti with tougher skin, like terscheckii, and they seem to pick the higher alkaloid pachanoi types in particular. Scale don't infest any other plants in my garden, only cacti. I have had scale on a few indoor plants like aroids. I do like your train of thought about it being growing tips that are most likely to be eaten, therefore concentrating bitter tasting deterrents there makes a lot of sense for a plant. -

Apologies if I came across like I was saying that paper wasn't relevant or such, was just noting the loaded language in it's title. I will be more conscious of my choice of words. -

"commonly abused cacti" See, that just grates on my grill... Haven't read it but doesn't sound like something that can be done without a serious lab. Unlike in KTs posted paper. I love a bit of ghetto Tek, he had me at jigsaw! -

This is very cool and interesting! It's particularly interesting to read there is a vertical concentration gradient as well as radial. This challenges and potentially disproves most of the hearsay about which types of specimens are best suited for particular application. Thanks for posting this! -
Hope the season wasn't too harsh for the guerilla crew, all that rain would be devastating for the modern hybrids I imagine. That's why keeping tropical heirloom varieties alive and untainted is so important. Here's a pic I found on the internet to illustrate my point!

Eastern Manipur region landraces are likely all gone, as the farmers realised in the last two years that poppies are more lucrative and easier to farm. I think the Balochistan region and lots of the valleys bordering Afghanistan will hold out and keep their seeds going still. Seems to be a far more culturally ingrained than to the East where it's all about cashflow to survive.

Interesting you don't get enhanced visuals, that's almost guaranteed for me. -

Yeah that fine greasy metallic dust is not good to inhale, always use a nozzle filter. -
Creating an Outdoor Patch for Woodlovers or Subs
Strontium Dawg replied to holymountain's topic in Mycology
I have a creek with regenerated bush either side right next to where I live, so it's close. There's plenty of shade so the ground stays moist through summer. And it's topped up with chips and branches by local bushcare so I don't need to maintain it myself. Also, it's nice to share. My home patch is great, but if I ever leave my house behind, I have a public spot I can go check. -

I just found a fresh stockpile of chips laid out for the local bushcare group. Time to inoculate it for the coming years I say! It's next to a site I've been considering for a public patch so it's all win. -
There's nothing better than a good cuppa.

I reckon it's an Icaros Peruvian if I was a betting man. Put the kettle on and make a cuppa. Only way to know but it looks like it'll be good.

When caapi flowers? and is it self pollinating?
Strontium Dawg replied to sagiXsagi's topic in Ethnobotany
My Alicia anisopetala flowered last year but didn't appear to set seed, so maybe that one's dioecious, or just wasn't suitable conditions/no compatible pollinators available? -

It's not outside the realm of possibility that within a lifetime, the only hikuri in existence will be the cultivated ones in peoples' collections. Which is pretty sad.

You can quote as many scientific extracts as you like, but i guarantee you that if you sprinkle cinnamon powder on a cactus, it will be covered in mould before you know it. It's one of the biggest myths that goes around cactus noob circles that cinnamon has antifungal properties. Cinnamon oil may be a different story but that will likely burn the shit out of a cactus. Go on, I encourage you to try it for yourself! -

Cinnamon is the worst thing you can put on. It has zero antifungal effect, in fact, mould will grow preferentially on it! Zaleton and other systemics are nasty toxic chemicals. Please don't ever use them on anything that might be considered for consumption. If you need an effective fungicide, Yates anti-rot (phosphorus acid) is the only systemic I'd use. -
