    Discovery: San Pedro avoids light

Ok, so my trichs are in pretty intense direct sun most of the day, and the bridges seem to be leaning towards the direction of the sun, where the pachs are tending more away from it... I moved a few of each into dappled shade today to see what difference it makes. If any.
  2. Started off 10 batches of loph varieties today! Yay.

    overheard on the tram

My favourite preface to a statement is "I'm not a racist,but..." usually followed by the most incandescent diatribe of race related ignorant vitriol...
  4. Hi all, I'm looking to buy a Tibetan bowl and maybe tings as well. Seen a few vendors online but does anyone have recommendations regarding people who are good to deal with? I'm in Sydney if there are any sellers locally I'd prefer to buy face to face.

    Tibetan singing bowls

Yeah I'd much prefer to buy in person so I can get hands on and hear it's tone, and whether it resonates with me. Thanks.

I say let it lean whichever way it wants to. Who are we to tell it what to do?

    kk2152: cuzco or Peru?

I know taxonomy is a slippery slope, especially for cacti originating from knize, but what is the general consensus on kk2152? I haven't received my cutting I just bought yet, so I don't have any pics. I have seen a few from the sale pics and the piece I am getting doesn't have 2 large central spines, only 1, and they don't seem much fatter at the areole. But it does look a bit cuzco from the top...

    Australian stinging tree..

When I was little, I was told stories of early settlers who used the leaves as toilet paper once, as they look so nice and big and soft...probably myth, but imagine...

    What's eating you pup?

Psycho0 threw a new pup at it's base a week ago and all was going well... It's been raining a lot here, and when I had a look this morning, something's been having a chew. I cant see any snail trails on the pot or near the cactus anywhere, so I am not sure what's beeing eating it and how to ward it off. i'd like to take action before it has another go and does some real damage. Any ideas?
  11. Then we'd have celebrity endorsements for the woollies vs Coles brand battle, I wonder who they'd pick as their figureheads?

    What's eating you pup?

Could be a mouse, like I said, no snail trails, but can't hurt to lay some copper. If it was a mouse, he must have had a good day...:-o

  17. It probably doesnt matter what you start with, because, in all likelihood, you will catch the obsession and pretty soon you'll be collecting all sorts and types! They're all cool!

    avoiding sunburn on young seedlings

I've given them an extra layer just in case.
  22. I have started a new batch of seedlings this week and had great germination so far. They're all in takeaway containers and sitting on a benching that gets sunlight for around half a day, and indirect light for the rest of the day. To avoid sun damage, I have draped some doubled over curtain material over the top. Do you think this will be enough protection from the late winter sun? Or move them right away from the sun until they are older?
