Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.
Strontium Dawg replied to Hellonasty's topic in Cacti & Succulents
DB, I have noticed vastly different germination rates for the crosses between bogan and yowie. Bogan x yowie had close to 100% rate, yowie x bogan maybe 10%. Did you or anyone else find the same? I don't think any of the scop cross germinated at all. I got a few whiora that came up though. -
Good on you niggles, I wish I was down that way. I'm thinking of having a similar do later this year, minus the plant sales.

Ah, that's what we've been missing lately.

I'm no longer undecided. Trump is bad. More of the same is bad, but you don't cure cancer with syphilis.

Creating an Outdoor Patch for Woodlovers or Subs
Strontium Dawg replied to holymountain's topic in Mycology
I watered a couple of sections with some ecoflow gypsum today, so I'll report if those sections produce noticeably more than the other sections. My beds are all local hardwood chips, there was a massive storm last year and literally hundreds of trees came down. They all got mulched into a big pile and I helped myself. -

I spent a few hours bailing water with a bucket, but I consider my situation pretty lucky compared to a lot of others. Hope you guys on the northern rivers are ok.

You'll get some interesting variety in the phenotypes from the moonunit's seeds if they are anything like the ones I sowed about a year ago. Some really cool spiny bridgesoids...

I struggle to understand where trump will take the USA. One one hand... "Donald J. Trump, has raised several important foreign policy issues which need addressing, and soon. Those questions include why the United States must play the role of world policeman, whether NATO’s mission is obsolete, why the U.S. always pursues “regime change” when the results – in Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, Syria, etc. – are a “disaster,” and why Russia has been made into an enemy." On the other hand there's pretty much everything else that exits his windpipe...

All empires rise and fall, maybe the sun is setting on the us of a... Nature abhors a vacuum so the real question is who will rise and occupy the space?

Life isn't perfect, I know I sure ain't. But sitting here in my own little space, it's hard to imagine it could be much better.

I was thinking of watering some gypsum into my beds to encourage fruit, anyone with more experience know if this has merit or not? My beds have been a bit dry recently due to the weather up here, and I've been working long hours during the week so I've not been watering them. Hopefully they'll produce this winter. I've been waiting nearly 18 months. -
Trich Seedlings Need Shade. But how?

A sheet of baking paper works well over the container too. Let's through light but not enough to burn them. -
Personal Seed Bank
Strontium Dawg replied to Zedo's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Sorry man, I didn't mean to spend like a smartarse. What I meant to say was that growing the plants gives them their best chance of survival. Some will produce more seed and you can spread them far and wide. -

Why not just grow them instead of collecting them and cataloguing them? That's what they're for after all! -

[Article] Tobacco - a forgotten healing plant
Strontium Dawg replied to Scarecrow's topic in Ethnobotany
What could possibly go wrong using such sound advice? Umm, didn't someone die recently in an aya setting after being administered tobacco juice?
