First post says it was coined as Lumberjackius but was promptly changed to Lumberjackus. The latter really does sound better, IMO.
-
Why has everyone shortened it to Lumberjack? 'Lumberjackus' is an awesome name, it sounds like it was named after a male stripper.

With the apparent dominance of scops spination traits it would be interesting to cross it with bridgesii and repeatedly backcross with bridgesii while selecting for no spines. A blue spineless bridgesii would just be awesome.

I had a TPQC X TPM sprout a big honkin' crest pup at the base so I decided to cut off the columnar bit and graft it. Went on normal for a while and then had an identity crisis. Now I have a ten and three halves ribbed columnar sporting a cactus mohawk.

The Spineless Trichocereus Scopulicola Project
Auxin replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
You didnt read between the lines, he was hinting who modeled for the wooden phallus! -
One thing I did not do was spend $5000 on a 8 ribbed stem cut from a PC I should sell my 7 rib PC's so I can buy me a bigger house.

Eating more nuts and greens, whole foods, and such cut aggressive behavior in kids studied over in WA. If junior is misbehaving, kale the bastard! [Link]

The Spineless Trichocereus Scopulicola Project
Auxin replied to hostilis's topic in Cacti & Succulents
When ritter defined scopulicola he said spines were often absent, sometimes 3-4 spines, awl shaped, to 1 mm long. So the scops with spines enough to feel when you grab it, but usually not puncture flesh, still count as scops. -
Yeah man, its a conspiracy by the illuminati to control world populations. It was one of their first major projects after they accidentally discovered its aggression pacifying properties in 1808 while looking for contraceptives to put into englands drinking water. Here you can see how they did chemtrails before jets as a man burns magnesium to taint the worlds oceans in 1931 (the oceans didnt originally have magnesium, you know, the illuminati gets their supply from aliens)

Matrine is a sexy critter. I've toyed with the thought of growing Sophora flavescens before, the whole plant is usually better than the isolated alkaloids except in some heart conditions. Hopefully not a plant I'd actually need tho.

Yeah man, kale is awesome. I put it in everything, even oatmeal sometimes. I think it gets bad press because, as something thats like the icon of healthy, self destructive cheeseburger death zombies cant tolerate being near it. Like garlic to a vampire.

Nice one, Ohlone. I like all the recent scop-mania. The F2 of that should yield a few interesting specimens. Both tend to be quite fat but scop grows fast. I've got some of mesas 'slender stem short spine' macrogonus sprouting now. It should be fun to see what the hell they mean by that, lol I've seen bridgesii that someone with imagination could call a slender stem short spine macro.

[Link] So, yeah, fuck all to do with ethnobotany but whos counting I'm just 53 kg and 178 cm and I can cook. If that makes me feminine, can I start buying girls clothes now? I always did envy theyre style of bluejeans. I tried full drag once and it was only the short fat guys that checked me out, I suspect my hips are too narrow. Just cant win.

You'd be a natural as a buddhist monk

Yeah, s/he isnt especially masculine, lol Great singer tho Knowing Conchita Wurst by name just cost me another masculine point, methinks.

Will all the radiation thats just been leaked in the world cause our cacti to crest and monstrate?
Auxin replied to ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ's topic in Cacti & Succulents
With the exception of incidents like chernobyl and fukushima, wouldnt chemical fertilizer dose our cacti with more radionuclides than the radioactive effluvium from hanford or the hydrogen bomb testing from the 50's? I have some uranium ore, I could put some in a petri dish set atop a seed sprouting pot except I sprout seeds in my bedroom and I wouldnt want uranium by my head 8 hours a day. I might turn psychic and my own thoughts are disturbing enough, I dont want to have to know other peoples thoughts as well -

Ah, I see, so by 'just' he meant over the last four generations? You still count the internal combustion engine as a fad dont you? I expect contamination by organic compounds to promote more mutagenesis than radiation from leaky nuke plants. (Unless your immediately downstream, but even then its no assurance... 15 years and I'm still waiting on my third nipple to grow in) -

Is there some minimum length of exposure or is it just in fresh seed sprouts or something? My cacti are under direct sun in 40-43 °C temps daily for at least a week a year, 3 cm seedlings included, and with the understandable exception of the nitrogen blood lines I've never had a cactus go crest/monster. I certainly have enough to make a 6% mutation rate be noticed. Is it time to torture more baby cacti? Ninja, what radiation was just released? I dont watch TV and the talk in my sex chat didnt turn 'hot' in that way -
If you get parafilm, guard it. I once got a 36 x 3600 cm roll of the stuff and my addled mother swiped it and used up the whole roll wrapping cookies for a church fair. Not surprisingly, the stuff makes an effective cookie wrapper

Low salt vegan hippie pee. Its a good thing I'm a hippie, because the law frowns on milking hippies for pee in the park.
-
In the pic it was a pup and not a seedling ;) One major problem for me with naked seedling grafts is the peres rounding up and detaching the seedling. Happens in humidity chambers and my ambient 30-40% RH alike. Do you starve the peres for water until it droops or something to prevent that?

Good work Russia! On the opposite end, last month the US authorized commercial production of cotton, soy, and corn engineered to be tolerant to a mixture of both roundup and 2,4-D, Dow Chemical’s Enlist Duo herbicide. Now I have to grow my own corn, or be one of the sorry fools who eats a food sprayed with 2,4-D shortly before harvest.

Looking up data on Setiechinopsis mirabilis I stumbled on a site of kids coloring printouts with an impressive selection of plants. [Link to the peyote one]

For those on the look out for new pickup lines, theres been an interesting immunological effect found after oral administration of a compound from a guys happy juice... [News Link] [Journal Link] Cool how compounds known since the dawn of organic chemistry continue to find new uses, I have a book printed 105 years ago that mentions spermidine.
