  1. We could annoy the piss out of taxonomists and call the PC clone Echinopsis pachanoides (latin for "well, damnit, it looks like a pachanoi")
  2. A cacti-morphized cartoon depiction of mutant the morning after posting on SAB:
  3. Found an infected pup that led my knife straight to core rot on a SS02 X Kimuras Giant Interestingly I've been feeding all my trichs with a deluge of low salt hippie piss + beans n rice soaking water, diluted to 1/10th, every day for the last 3 months and not counting a few stressed 1-2 cm seedlings this is the only instance of rot so far. Thus, this girl is on her way to darwins compost pile.
  4. I cant speak for hostilis, but I am not a fanatic. I only have 23 guns. Fanatics have at least 25.

What is the best way to Trim a cactus?

Still nothing on how to 'catch' the bit you cut off? I wouldnt want a big cactus cut splatting on the ground and I wouldnt want it shoving a thorn through my spleen. Wrap it in newspaper and have a friend of questionable intellect hold it while you swing the razor sharp katana?
  6. It works for teenagers too. I didnt even have to fire the gun, just sat there cleaning a high powered assault rifle with integral grenade launcher as school let out. Little punk bitches stopped bothering my dog and I've never had a cactus stolen.
  7. [Link] I found this one quite interesting. I cant wait to see if bigger trials confirm the accuracy of this test. I expect undiagnosed bacterial and viral infections might screw with it a bit tho. As might significantly abnormal antioxidant intake. But still, it'd be a great "Doctor, is my shit fucked up?" test
  8. An inoculant, I'm hoping. Nitrogen has loads of monstrose cacti, they flowered and many of the seed grow new monstrose plants. Its known that fasciation can be caused by viral or bacterial vectors so I just cut a piece off of one of those baby monsters and mashed it up with a little water and soaked seeds in the slime. On the off chance it works it would prove a useful trick. I previously tried using the goo and a cactus spine to tattoo the tips of grafted cacti, that trial didnt work.
  9. Soaked 48 seeds in the goo expressed from one of Nitrogens TPQC X TPM mutants for 7 hours before planting. Hoping for J3 X Psycho0 and SS01 X T. bridgesii mutants.
  10. Firstly, this is absurd. Religiousness in america is at an all time high and has been steadily growing for 200 years, its only the religious types that say otherwise and thats just part of an advertizing campaign. As for political division, thats another fallacy.the dems and the reps are virtually identical conservative parties who use sensationalist posturing to perpetuate the notion that they are, in fact, two separate entities and not a political monopoly. Secondly, in what way is this relevant to ethnobotany?
  11. I found a pic of it before I stuck it in dirt, note the 4 bands of areoles
  12. Yeah, that hardiness freezer torture thing isnt limited to bridges, I've also done it to pach x bridge, bridge x (peru x terscheckii) and reciprocal, pure pach, etc. and I have a nice fat scop I plan to enter into the mix too. Its a lifelong BDSM cactus orgy, when I'm 85 some young kid can take it over. How many years was it no one believed Salvia divinorum flowered, and then when it did the whole world went 'holy shit, the classical flower drawing had the colors backwards!' Fuck, I farm at least two medicinal plants that were regarded as "impossible to grow in cultivation" when I was born. I thought I had let out my discovery there, perhaps not. One day I had a TBM on a pereskiopsis, it had just terminated and was making the penis tip- forming those miniscule not-areoles. I plopped some miracle grow into a 1/6th full jug of water, intending to fill it the rest of the way to make full strength ferts, well I was busy and spaced out and watered that graft with the 600% strength grow ferts, and fuck me with a chain saw if the little bastard didnt start growing more complete areoles and getting taller. Few weeks later it terminated again and I forced it to resume again, got it one more time after that before it pupped. That single 20 cm columnar TBM 'pickle' is now in dirt and sprouting out new pickles around itself. I have not yet manifested the balls to try that trick on a TBM on its own roots.
  13. It does resemble bridgesii, which is probably why the label isnt generally questioned. But with its very consistent morphology and no history of reverting to columnar growth is it really unthinkable that it, for instance, could be its own species? Wouldnt it be great to find a partner in the wild and do some breeding Just got to get flowers on them, sacred succulents has a bush thats probably 2 meters tall by now [Porn] and it seems they've never got it to flower. With their penchant for spreading around cool Trich crosses we would have heard about any successful pollination.
  14. Was genetic testing (or even just flower porn) ever done, actually establishing the clumping TBM as a columnar Trichocereus? Since it never reverts and never flowers its just on faith that we call it a bridgesii, right? Even if it originally grew from a packet marked T. bridgesii, we all know that and $2 will get you a cup of coffee- hell, I once planted a packet of 'T. peruvianus' seed and from that obtained T. macrogonus, T. cuzcoensis, T. peruvianus, T. chiloensis, and Aporocactus flagelliformis! lmao
  15. No strippers logged on in chat so time for a few T. glaucus porn shots These were grown from seed I obtained from EG several years back (thanks again man), I should have repotted them 15 months ago but torture makes a cactus more sexy, or at least more mature looking. There seem to be two different forms here, several with short central spines and the rest with long centrals. The central spines on the long spine type are 25-35 mm while the centrals on the short spine type are ~15 mm. All are currently 20-30 cm tall with stems 6-7 cm in diameter, which falls within Ritters 5-8 cm stems, they have 1-3 central spines and about 8 radials. Most have very subtle V notches with the exception of my plant #6 which is also the only one with 6 ribs- all others have 8. Plant #6 is in the middle here: The short spine ones have areoles that tip upwards with the top going in a bit and the bottom coming out a bit. On a few of the long spine ones the areoles are almost on tubercles, the areole tipping up with even the top not going into the stem like the right cacti in the first pic and in this one and these two These last two remind me of a saw blade They dont so much look like Ritters blurry old photo but looking at mine I can see why some compare T. glauca to T. uyupampensis or T. peruvianus. It will be interesting to see mine as they get taller.
  16. Fuck sake, I hope you realized I was joking when I suggested video chat with strippers

How do you feel about advertising?

Hey now! As someone who enjoys sucking arse I take offense to that comparison I, for one, still feel the same T. I loathe and abhor the idea of a members only forum and think it would degrade our image as well as our social structure and would be the first step to our demise as a viable and worthwhile community.
  18. I hope you have some desiccated pollen lined up for that girl. That would be a nice form to cross with a bridgesii.

    Your prostate smells....

[Link] Kind of blew me away, I never realized there might be smell receptors in my skin, let alone my prostate or sperm, lol Excuse the thread title, I couldnt resist

fda tries to stop cancer treatment

One thing that seems distinctly unpopular is improving lifestyle in general in every way available. It should be (and, I expect, is) obvious to everyone that a healthier person has a better chance against cancer or other chronic illnesses than an unhealthy person but I routinely encounter people who got cancer or heart disease and were told by their doctor to just sit on their ass in the dark eating filth and not exercising. Seriously, theyre told to 'get lots of bed rest, avoid the sun, and eat whatever you like'. And americans being the way they are, it doesnt take much convincing to get them to sit around watching TV and eating cheeseburgers and milkshakes. Rest is a good idea for something acute like the flu but people with chronic illnesses should be trying to improve their health, and no one should be eating junk food.

How do you feel about advertising?

I like this idea. It could be combined with fundraisers. We could have video in chat and people could tip purchased tokens, MFC style, for the strippers to show off their areoles and do innovative things with despined columnar cacti. The chatlog would be classic, like an orgy of academics well versed in latin "yeah baby, work that Eriocereus, show daddy what that parenchyma can do!"

    T. Spineless Scopulicola?

Yours looks almost identical to mine, but with longer spines. As it grows and fattens the spines will sink in some, but it wont become truly spineless- ever. If your lucky it may get to the point where you can grab it and try to lift it and it wont puncture skin tho, thats how mine is, I can grab it with my palm but wouldnt slap it with the back of my hand, lol I suspect SS stuck 'spineless' in the name for the sake of people who have never heard of a scop before. For a scop thats actually a long spined clone. Edit to link to pics of mine next to a PC, people dont even call mine short spine because of the recessed areole variants out there
