Alcosynth - Safe alcohol alternative?
squidgygoanna posted a topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
Thought some of you guys might be interested in this I remember reading about this a few years ago when it was in it's infancy, looks like it may be hitting the shelves in the next few years. As someone who's pretty sensitive to alcohol, particularly the negative side effects, I'd love to give this stuff a try https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/mar/26/an-innocent-drink-could-alcosynth-provide-all-the-joy-of-booze-without-the-dangers -
Alcosynth - Safe alcohol alternative?
squidgygoanna replied to squidgygoanna's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
I was wondering this too, there's very rarely such thing as a "free lunch" in pharmacology, particularly when dealing with GABA That said, I respect the work of Prof. David Nutt a lot, so it's going to be interesting to watch this all unfold If it does what he says it's going to do, I don't think it's a stretch to say it's going to be revolutionary -

I was cleaning up and noticed that a plant I thought had died had sprouted again, however the label has faded in the sun and is now unreadable I believe it may be an old Calea Zacatechichi plant that I moved when it died last year (or so I thought) What do you guys think?
-
Possibly Calea Zacatechichi?
squidgygoanna replied to squidgygoanna's question in Plant Identification (non-cactus)
Thanks mate I'll give that a go! -

Comet and Meteorite Traditions of Aboriginal Australians
squidgygoanna replied to DiscoStu's topic in Creativity, Spirituality & Philosophy
I did some research on this myself a few years ago but wasn't able to find a lot.. I did find this paper from 2012, but it's pay-walled and I couldn't find a free version https://www.researchgate.net/publication/257453845_The_Younger_Dryas_Relevant_in_the_Australian_region We may not have been directly impacted, but secondary effects (climate change, sea level rise, etc) would have almost certainly affected us IMO -

Anyone know what causes this? has appeared on three separate cacti. I have been watering more frequently, wondering if that's the cause

Phytochemical and biological evaluation of Salvia apiana (White Sage).
squidgygoanna replied to LikeAshesWeFade's topic in Pharmacology, Chemistry & Medicine
Interesting stuff. Surprised that this research hasn't already been done based on Sage's long history of use. Off topic but is there a place where one can get updates on these kind of new Ethnobotanical studies? Online ethnobotany journals or something? -
As long as you read the steps carefully and follow them closely you'll be fine man. A single print will last a very long time and goes a long way. It contains billions of spores and it only requires two for successful germination. No need to use an entire print for a single grow. Feel free to PM me with any questions!

Experience is the best teacher. I'd suggest browsing the Shroomery and finding a simple tek (I always suggest Franks 12 step tek for beginners) The best way to learn is to just jump in and have a go, if you follow the steps outlined in the tek you can't really go wrong. This will help you learn the basics of mushroom cultivation that can be applied to growing just about any species. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have along the way (I run a small business growing and selling gourmet and medicinal mushrooms)

I loved the free trade thread, would love to see it come back. A high end trade thread would be sweet too. Is it possible for the creator of a thread to be given mod rights to straight up delete off topic or irrelevant posts? and banning those that don't comply sounds like a good move

Anyone grow this plant?
-
I had great results when I tried it, very noticeable effects, easily distinguishable from placebo which is very rare for me Thanks for the link WB! looks like an interesting read

I've heard they're extremely difficult to germinate..
