  1. Not all of those listed are plants that I lost, some are just plants that have been on my wish list for a while. Thought I might ask around for them at the same time.
  2. As the title says, my greenhouse got literally overrun by mites and I lost a significant portion of my plant collection a while back I threw in the towel but now I think the time has come to get my collection going again I've been around these forums for a long time, always coming and going. Have a trade rating thread. If anyone can help with cuttings or seedlings of any of the below that would be sweet. Don't have a lot left to trade unfortunately but happy to pay. What's wrong with my cactus?

Thanks everyone, moved him undercover in preparation for the surgery tomorrow

    What's wrong with my cactus?

Yeah I think I'll remove the tip. Is it OK to just cut and leave to heal? or should I sprinkle some sulphur or something on the fresh cut?

    What's wrong with my cactus?

Went to check on my cacti on the weekend and noticed one wasn't doing so well (see photo - not sure why it uploaded sideways) What am I dealing with here and is it salvageable?

    Cordyceps culture

Hey guys, wondering if anyone here has a cordyceps culture they would be willing to share? Happy to pay. Cheers
  7. Hey all, I recently moved to some acreage in rural Victoria and now have the space to design my dream garden.. Building a vege garden, a greenhouse for my tropical plants, and now I'm trying to decide whether to build a separate greenhouse for my cacti, or just build a small lean-to shed with lattice and shade cloth walls off the side of the Greenhouse. What do you guys think would provide optimal growth conditions for the cacti? Can get very cold here (lowest was -6c this past winter) and 40+ during summer Interested to hear what you guys would do

    Grifola Frondosa

Does anyone know if we're allowed to cultivate this mushroom in Aus? Grows naturally in certain parts of Aus: https://bie.ala.org.au/species/cc996c9c-ace8-4db0-a51d-18ae93dfd362 A friend of mine in NSW found a wild specimen, I'd like to clone it for cultivation but I don't know if it's on the naughty mushroom list

Cactus collection looking sickly... any advice?

The Scoria/pebbles are only scattered on top, mostly for aesthetics. Would never try to use them as the growing medium. The soil mix underneath is fine as I've been using the same mix for close to 10 years. Weird that they're dehydrated, I was watering once a week and started seeing signs of rot so I cut it back a bit. I thought it looked like dehydration but didn't want to water again and do more damage. Good call on removing the top layer though, will make it easier to judge moisture levels
  10. Hey fam, been a while since I've posted here. I moved all my cacti collection into a shade cloth covered greenhouse probably 18 months ago All were doing really well and looking super healthy, flowering etc. However over the past few months they've started looking a bit unwell Most have new blueish growth on top and the older, green growth below it looks and feels really "sunken" and flimsy, instead of firm and plump like they were a few months ago Any idea what the issue could be? too much water? not enough? nutrient deficiency? pests? EDIT: no idea why pics are uploading sideways. Apologies

    Flowhood recommendations

I bought mine from Aussie Mushroom Supplies. Pricey if you buy one already assembled versus building your own, but they're great quality

    Plant Hardiness Spreadsheet

Hey guys, I've been bored at work so I decided to put together a spreadsheet listing frost/cold hardiness for the most commonly discussed Ethnobotanical plants on SAB Thought I would share it here in-case it's useful to anyone else. The info was gathered from and cross referenced using multiple online sources and personal reports. Obviously there are always abnormalities and outliers, but might be helpful as a guide This is by no means a comprehensive list and still a work in progress. I also haven't included cacti. I may get around to that eventually. My cacti have all been exposed to frosts and -6c temps and survived so I don't think it's as pertinent. If anyone has any first hand experience that differs from what's listed, or any others I should add to the list, feel free to chime in! Plant Hardiness.xlsx
