Importing Seeds - Which ones are permitted?

EvilGenius, I can see where the confusion came from. The tab to do the search is under "Import Conditions" which is clearly a phrase coined by a software database person, not a normal person. How to use the New System: 1) Click this link https://bicon.agriculture.gov.au/BiconWeb4.0/ImportConditions/Search/ Page looks like this: 2) Click "Scientific Name" tab: 3) Type in the Genus name that you're looking for and click "Filter": For example Trichocereus: 4) Check the box next to the genus name and click "Search": (you can just use this box to look for your species) 5) Look under the Tab, "Permitted Seeds for Sewing"and find your species:

Here are the updated lists (effective September 22nd for Trichs and October 30th for Echinopsis). It's not as easy to read as before: Echinopsis: Trichocereus:

Big-Sized Trich Sale, AZ pickup/delivery only

Didn't sell a single one and I couldn't be happier: They're all going to good homes! Yay!
  5. EDIT: Everything is finding good homes. Yay! No longer for Sale. The cactus world is full of amazing people. If a mod sees this and wishes to delete it, cool. Otherwise, the pictures are pretty. Trichocereus brevispinulosus Trichocereus peruvianas. There's been some speculation that it's a cuzco but I have no idea. Trichocereus macrogonus. Trichocereus werdermannianus. taquimbalensis (thank you for the correction Evil Genius!) Trichocereus terscheckii #1 Trichocereus terscheckii #2. Trichocereus scopulicola. Some speculation this is cordobensis.

Free tricho seedlings for a new(ish) member

This forum makes me smile. Every time I login I'm reminded that there are so many other cactus freaks out in the world. It's a good feeling to know that I'm not the only one with this passion. Anything and everything to do with cacti makes me happy. I'm in the USA, that's totally cool if it disqualifies me.

Big-Sized Trich Sale, AZ pickup/delivery only

Also, I'm no expert on IDs. I'm simply selling them under the names they came with. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
  9. Mr. Evil Genius, If you see this, could you please move my post: http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19673&p=518586 to this thread? I read your post about werdermannius not being a real species. This is simply the name it was sold under at a reputable nursery here in Arizona. If it's not a werdermannius, what do you think it is?
  10. two different forms of terscheckii. Note on Form 2: it severly etiolated in one section and you can see how etiolation affects spine growth and shape. Also, in comparing the two forms, note the drastically different shape of the spines and ribs. Form 1: Form 2:
  11. werdermannius: taquimbalensis notice how different the spines can be due to conditions, even on the same plant.

SG open - WORLDWIDE trich seed giveaway

Hi Kykeion, I looked through this thread but didn't see a request from you. Are you sure Pimento knew of it? Are you sure customs nabbed them? How long ago were they sent? Have you not gotten a letter from them yet? I can help you out, Pimento sent me 5 of the varieties and I can give you about 10-20 of each kind. In the spirit of Pimento doing this awesome giveaway, I'll put in a few of solaritea's crosses as well. Hcc

Seeking Acacia - primarily obtusifolia seeds for now but always phlebs too

☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ,sorry this is off-topic, but what do you use for your Acacia soil mix? It looks quite nice and clearly the plants like it. Thanks, Hcc
  17. Well, in the USA, under homeowner's insurance you can get your landscaping covered up to usually about 5% of the value of your home ($5'000 on a $100,000 home) with a typical maximum of $500 USD per plant. So photographing your collection once a year, documenting the plants' value, and speaking with your insurance agency about your "landscaping" or "personal property" coverage are all good ideas. Cacti theft happens quite frequently in the Sonoran Desert, from residential, businesses and from mother nature. Saguaros are typically what are stolen here because of their value. There is a system in place for making sure saguaros are tagged and permitted. On the flip side, there are so many cacti here that when people get their landscaping done you can literally walk through neighborhoods and find piles of cuttings that are going to get dumped with the next bulk trash pickup. Though, finding columnars of interest is extremely rare. In terms of a cacti collection, I think general discretion, fencing and other common security options are sensible choices. Hcc

    Cactus of the 4 winds

MS Smith, Do you think the pictures of mine in this post are Scopulicola or cordobensis? What is/are the defining trait(s)? I'm USA based and all I know is that it came from a local grower who's been growing cacti for 30+ years. http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40440&p=500828 I can take more pictures if necessary.

wanted acacia obtusifola and courtii plants

d00d and folias, Thank you both. I greatly appreciate the offer and insight to the validity of the seeds. I just wanted to be sure of the ID before spending years growing them out. I live in the Sonoran Desert and we have quite a few OZ Acacias growing in the major cities. So far I have 2 acuminata v. narrow phyllode, 2 Acacia burkitti, and 2 Acacia maidenii in the ground and doing quite well. maidenii: maidenii phyllodes: Hcc
