3 Aussie ISIS members want to return home...

This is the core issue. Society believe in maybes. Any charges laid against these boys will be suprious, and either no conviction will be made, or it will be quietly overtuned. In a few months there will have been a whole swathe of other stories for people to embrace and stay fearful of these big bad Muslims. The fact is, the whole ISIS notion is grossly overblown. The CIA estimate of members is less than the total number of people living in my local municipality. They have no organised military operation, no air capabilities, almost no support from the serious players in the MIddle Eastern geopolitic region. ISIS is merely the new fear campaign rolled out by our corrupt governments who know that the value of the words 'Al-Queda' are losing ground since the alleged assasination of Osama Bin Laden. Looking at this from a marketing perspective, does anyone here know about split-testing? In web marketing, it's basically having several different designs/artworks/offers/whatever exposed to the same demographics, and the data is tabulated for popularity depending on what the end user action was. This whole ISIS term has been split tested last year between ISIS, ISIL, and simply IS. The marketing team who is rolling out the whole fabrication has settled on ISIS, because it trends well. At no time could they drop the reference to 'Islamic State' because it serves as a gentle but constant reminder that ISLAM IS THE NEW ENEMY ! Effectively, the gulliable majority of westerners that believe in all of this rubbish, and by extendion build up hateful levels of discrimination against their fellow citizens, are agreeing to the erosion of our civil liberties and right to privacy. WHat isn't so often discussed, is that in the years since 9/11, survelliance of citizens' phones, internet usage and movements are now the norm. The Abbott government is speaking about blocking access to certain websites (on the premise of anti-piracy). It's all one giant scam, and the world's powers are pulling the wool over our eyes. It seems that, even on this community, which I wrongly assumed to be open minded and slightly more discerning about political; and media agendas, the bait is being swallowed hook, line & sinker. Here's a story of a big bad Muslim that I'm waiting to see if it appears in the Daily Telegraph, and how long it keeps front page position before being booted off for another "Jihadi John" scare story http://ilmfeed.com/homeless-man-racially-abuses-a-muslim-man-he-responds-by-finding-him-a-job-and-a-home/#arvlbdata

The article was not a literal translation, it was heavily interjected with Christian commentary and bigoted opinion (by the author of which you copy/pasted the text) What long-standing Australian laws have they broken? As far as I know they were not fighting against Australian troops, so we can rule treason out. Any crime they may or may not have committed were not on Australian soil so the government has no juristiction. If I happenned to be on the beach in Goa recently smoking a joint, is it the Australian Federal government's place to charge me? Has Tony Abbott's government has recently passed laws to chage people in this situation (the boys joining ISIS, not the ganja smoking overseas), and if so, why are we, as Australian citizens, allowing such atrocious legislation to pass ? The government has already proposed making citizens apply and thus be iinvestigated by federal authorities before being able to travel to specific middle eastern regions, but honestly, who are they to control where someone travels, and add them to a watch-list? We speak of 'abiding by our rules', which is a bit rich, considering the extra-curricular activities that are regularly implied within this very forum. Many of these alleged 'ISIS Recruits" are 100% Australian by birth. Faith in Islam does not (or rather should not) determine their birth-right citizenship status. Ultimately, a nationalised immigrant born in the UK is less of an Australian than someone of the young men the media is reporting on in recent months. If it were suggested that a nationalised immigrant should have their Australian citizenship revoked for being charged with a criminal offense, (any criminal offense), there would be an uproar. As for the generalised slander of refugees, this country's economy was built on the sweat of asylum seekers, with post-WW2 Greeks & Italians, followed by Vietnamese refugees, and in the recent decade, Afghani's & Iraqi's who are escaping from the outcome of a tyrannical and baseless war that Australian taxpayers money supported. It is our humanitarian obligation to accept asylum seekers. I'm of no dount that the bigoted readers will wave their fingers at the computer screen and cry 'but how about all the ILLEGAL refugees'. Yes, how about them ? By definition of illegal in the context of illegal immigration laws in Australia, the bulk of the numbers are made up of English, Irish, Malaysian and Chinese Nationals, not people arriving by boat with genuine asylum status.

Whitewind, you claim to have no regard for organised religion, yet you copy/paste a 6,000 word page, of which the source is a right wing fundamentalist Christian website, with seeminly no personal input from yourself. This is not an 'FYI', it's a rehash of propaganda. Reams of Quranic text indispersed with dogmatic opinion does not serve as statistical data, nor does it suffice in lieu of your own debate, from your own heart. Nor does the literal reading of the Quran reflect the actions of modern Muslims - just as my earlier Biblical references on paedophilia and the opression of women do nothing in representing the majority of modern Christians. You cannot simply pick & choose text from a holy book and expect ths to bolster your flimsy arguements against adherents to Islam in 2015. Instead of trawling the internet for Christian-based anti-Islam statements, I suggest you do some research on the number of unashamedly Islamaphobic sites out there, and try to find even a fraction of the total equivalent from pro-Islam Christianophobic sites. Having already done so, I'll save you some time and tell you now, they simply aren't out there to the extent of the former. It's a sad state of affairs when commentary such as that on this thread is made on the basis of 'news' reports from manipulative media outlets. If you wish to believe the media lies, then I pity you, and cannot regard your ability to debate in an unbiased, rational manner.

Please stop pointing the finger at Islam for problems that exist in society overall. In fact, most of what you are saying is prevalent in more cases outside of Muslim countries. The same story can be heard in any women's shelter in the western world. This is not specifically a Muslim issue. LGBT men and women are ostracised in most regional towns of Australia. Spend some time with these people and you might understand that it's impossible for many of them to return to their home towns. Regional Australian Culture = Not a Muslim issue I wonder where people like yourself get these toxic ideas from. Take a look at figures of guns per capita around the world. The USA tops the list, and there are only three Muslim nations in the top 10. It stands to reason, that there are dangerous countries all over the world. I would be much safer in Brunei than I would in New York. Corruption, sectarian violence and human rights abuse knows no religion, and to spread such malicious accusations against a majority for the actions of a minority is to completely do away with compassion and kindness towards our fellow humans.

Maybe not, but it does sound like a bastion of national respect for females, and the outcome of there being 20 years of female presidancies renders all racist stereotyping of Islamic nations redundant on the topic of oppressing women. In this regard, Bangladesh are one of the most progressive. How many Islamic countries proclaim 'In God We Trust' on their curency, and demand that court defendants swear on a holy book ? Paper currency is a device that every single American uses, and there is a proclamation of religious belief printed in the surface. In case you weren't paying attention, this happens in the goold old USA. Time to review your assumptions on secularism. It's nothing more than the 'Reds under the bed' anti Soviet/Cuba propaganda. The only terrorist attack in Australia was a boming outside the Hilton Hotel - perpetrated by an Australian Ananda Marga devotee. And the only precedent for killing sprees on Australian soil that we can logically refer to is the Port Arthur massacre, the Strathfield Plaza shootings and the Hodle street massacre. All perpetrated by anglo Australians. WIth this history in mind, why aren't we calling for the outlawing of Eastern Spiritual practices borne out of Hindu traditions? When did a call for religious equality and an end to hateful xenophobia become an example of ignorance? It's the Islamaphobic faction in Australia that are living a delusion.

Excellent perspective. Thre are roughly 500,000 Muslims in Australia, and I don't believe they are responsible for the following figures on female oppression in Australia. It seems that 'our way of life' is geared very much towards abusing women, not to mention denying standards of equality for same-sex relationships. Australian women affected by violence in their life Affected by violence over 15 57% 5.1 million Been physically assaulted 48% 4.3 million Been sexually assaulted 34% 3 million Experienced violence by a current or previous partner 16% 1.4 million Experienced sexual harassment in their workplace 20% 1.5 million Experienced inappropriate comments about their body or sex life 33% 3 million Experienced unwanted sexual touching 25% 2.2 million source: Australian Institute of Criminology (2004), Australian Human Rights Commission (2008)

This is no different to most western politicians that rise to power. Tony Abbott was schooled at a Jesuit College known for being a 'rich boys club' where nepotism and connections to other wealthy families is how former students rise through the ranks of both politics and executive corporate positions. The immediate evidence of this is that Joe Hockey is also part of the same boys club. George W Bush comes from wealth, and his right-hand man Dick Cheney is incredibly wealthy. To lay claim that the aformentioned women only rose to power due to influence & wealth is hardly relevant, and not unusual in political circles. Plus, you are dismissing the fact that both countries exercise national elections as a democratic process. For better or worse, they were elected by the people. This negates the claims that Islam opresses women. The context in which I mention Bangladesh is clearly within the discussion of female empowerment in a Muslim nation. I don't know if ANY other nation can claim to have decades of female leadership. India's Taj Mahal is a shrine built in honour of Shah Jahan's favourite wife at a cost of over $700 million dollars (converted to present monetary value). Jahan, an Orthodox Muslim, obviously thought highly of the woman. There are countless influential and powerful Muslim women that head organisations today. For westerners to project their own hatred towards Islam by believing they are the proxy voice for Islamic females is incredibly patronising to these women. In 2015, there are a group of Muslim men affectionately known as 'The White Coats' (those on Facebook, check out 'Homeless Run') who hit the streets of Sydney every Friday night with food, toiletries & warm clothing for the city's homeless. They aren't preaching Islam in an attempt to convert people, but act out their duty-bound obligation to help the needy in accordance with Quranic teachings. They also operate a program called 'Sisters in Need', offering food & furniture to single mums. Not Muslim single mums... these guys don't discriminate ! The vast majority of this stuff is donated by the Muslim community, with no expectation of something in return. Hardly surprising that the media don't tend to report this very often, preferring instead to fill our minds with stories of 'Jihadi John travels to Syria', 'Muslims behead westerners' and 'ISIS will have nuclear arms within months'. To all of the haters convinced that Islam is a big bad religion of murders, ask yourselves this - have YOU spent your weekends hauling food around the city to help those less fortunate? Islam is simply the new enemy of the West - mostly exaggeration and sometimes fabrication, that the politicians and media need in order to distract us, and move our attention away from the state, religious & corporate corruption that occurs in our society. It's a classic diversion practice adopted from Roman times. In the 70's and '80's it was the big bad Communists threatening 'our way of life'. At one point it was irrational fear of the 'Yellow Peril', defining Asian people as danngerous primates with supernatural evil powers. For Americans, Castro's Cuba was (perceived to be) a major threat to society. Saddam's weapons of mass destruction, which Hans Blix never, ever found, served at fuel for the fire under the bubbling cauldron of group-think hatred delivered to the masses via the likes of Rupert and his contemporaries. And today, of course, it's big bad Islam scaring people into submission under the careful control of our leaders. In 10 years it will have blown over, and we will have a new enemy that's been conveniently fabricated. Consider this, if you dare. ISIS is mostly a fabricated story, and blown out of proportion. Please meditate on this suggestion for a few moments. Do you trust the media sources you're getting your ISIS information from?

Some of the comments here are ridiculous. Those paranoid folks fearing Sharia law in Australia... have you even stopped to consider the size of the Muslim population in this country? It's less than 3% . I think you're fairly safe in that the 97% won't sway for Sharia law, and we can hang on to our current religious law, where homosexuals are not given equal rights by the government. A country led by a lunatic Jesuit who namechecks God, and called the Greens party 'the devil' in regards to opposing logging. This religious nation that executed it's last man as recently as 1967. A church in every suburb. A nation built from the sweat of petty criminals forcefully extracted from their home nation to be dumped on a faraway island. This great land, where only two hundreds years ago our forefathers perpetrated mass genocide against this land's rightful inhabitants. Australia takes it's lead from the USA, a nation where every cash transaction reminds citizens that it is a nation of God (In God We Trust is printed on all the paper currency). This murderous nation that Australia supports in invading sovereign nations. 500,000 Iraqis killed, under the leadership of a President channeling the word of a Christian God. George W Bush: 'I am driven with a mission from God'. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did." Leviticus 26:33 (in reference to non-believers) - I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins Why on earth should we fear Australia falling under Sharia Law when the present intertwining of politics and Christianity is so pervasive and sinister? As for Islam oppressing women, how do you figure Benizar Bhutto got elected... twice.... as president in a country of what many Islamophobes consider to be a hotbed of terror cells? I'm sure the former Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri would disagree with your opinions, being the commander-in-chief to the most populous Muslim country in the world. Perhaps you may wish to look towards Bangladesh, the third most populous Muslim country on the planet, which has been ruled by female Prime Minister for the last 25 years. Kosovo, Senegal, Turkey and other Islamic nations have had female leaders. The alleged oppression being specific to Islam is mostly in the minds of frightened, paranoid western xenophobes. Timothy 2:12 - I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. It wasn't so long ago, your grandmothers, perhaps your mothers, were expected to play the role of dutiful housewife, bear children and obey the king of the house. Unable to vote, unable to enter pubs. Statistically, still do not earn equal to that of their male counterparts. Titus 2:5 - to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed. At worst, Islamic nations are perhaps 50 years behind us, at best. ISIS will never catch up to the coalition's murder in the name of a Christian God, though. Child molester seems to get thrown around a lot when fearful people speak of Islam. Rolf Harris wasn't a Muslim, despite the beard. The Australian sex offenders registry include over 14,000 people, for crimes including pedophilia and rape. The Catholic church goes to great lengths to cover up Clergy indiscretions with children. Would it be fair for another nation to make the broad generalization that all Aussies are rapists and rock-spiders? Of course not. So too, the few bad eggs that proclaim Islam as a vehicle for murderous action do not represent the broader Muslim community. From the Catholic Encyclopedia: When forty years of age, Joseph married a woman called Melcha or Escha by some, Salome by others; they lived forty-nine years together and had six children, two daughters and four sons, the youngest of whom was James (the Less, “the Lord’s brother”). A year after his wife’s death, as the priests announced through Judea that they wished to find in the tribe of Juda a respectable man to espouse Mary, then twelve to fourteen years of age. Joseph, who was at the time ninety years old, went up to Jerusalem among the candidates; a miracle manifested the choice God had made of Joseph, and two years later the Annunciation took place.” This puts Mary at 12 years old when she married Joseph the Carpenter. Female children betrothed into marriage before puberty was very common. How about those headscarves? Several years ago, there was a rally in Lakemba by, and for, women, to reclaim the hijab, feeling that their cultural identity was being lost, and rallied to celebrate the wearing of the scarf as a respect for their belief. As a kid growing up in Catholic schooling in the '70;s, I remember my primary years being schooled by nuns who lived on premises. Nuns who wore scarves in alignment with their religious beliefs. Not many nuns get spat on or abused on public transport, but the same can't be said for Muslim women. My mother, and many women, in the 70's, used 'rollers' to curl their hair, and would cover themselves with a scarf. Heck, in the 50's, Audrey Hepburn & Marilyn Monroe wore headscarves for no apparent reason other than fashion. Corinthians 11:6 - For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.

The analogy on of our group members like to use is about hanging curtains on your window. You're doing nothing wrong or secret in the home, but I'm sure nobody wants strangers peeping in the window day and night. Tony Abbott has just stated that due to a matter completely unrelated to Australia (a beheaded US journalist) that this cold happen here, and therefore is calling for increased telecommunications surveillance. The man is taking this country into a frightening new direction.

    Don't Take the Mark

Heya guys & girls. First post here after many years of browsing. I'm a 29 year old femme originally from north NSW, but live a gypsy lifestyle these days traveling between Australia, Bolivia, my family's ancestory, Burma and the middle east as a freelance photojournalist and hacktivist for the past 9 years, with a focus on the atrocities committed by US-funded genocide and the dirty wars they are waging by proxy. Due to recent injuries in the field it's looking like more time will be spend on our collective property in Sydney city outskirts as it's becoming difficult to maintain stealth & mobility in tough situations. I have a good entheogenical garden that is self maintaining, and includes several dozen sacred St peter cactus, many mesquelero buttons, desirable south american jungle visionary plants in a controled greenhouse environment, plus a host of other healing botanical sacraments. Currently examining the privacy violations perpetrated by the state government with the Opal card system. Does anyone use this pubic transport service? We, our activist collective have been applying tremendous pressure on the Ministry of Transport office regarding the information gathering that remains the default for users. Until only recently, the only way to obtain this 'travel credit' card was to apply online using your credit/debit card details and other personal information. Soldunder the premise of ease and convenience, many commuters have taken this up, all the while allowing themselves to have their movement tracked and logged on the government's central database. Within a matter of months the state department has announced a phasing-out of 14 types of paper tickets, effectivly forcing people to become part of the great big rabbit warren of mass conformity overseen by a faceless data gathering supreme being. It was only very recently that Opal card became available for sale over the counter, without the requirement of identification. Stil, the brochure that comes with the card implores the buyer to register it online. We have pushedhard, and ensured that this is not obigatory. The trick is, to never, ever pay for top up credit on a credit/debit card, and absolutely never leave the device within 3 feet of your mobile phone. Do you have GPS activated on your cellphones? Chances are youre already contributing to your personal database that the federal government hold on you. When the process rollout is complete on 1st October, Opal card 'chips' will be communicating directly with your tramsmitting device, logging your IMEI, service details, personal calling data and other unique identifiers. The government has gone so far as to ensure this transition into invasive servitude that they even produce protective gelcases for phones with the express intention to keep your opal card hndy. Handy = close to the transciever, and nobody is thinking of the implications. We cannot urge people enough to think about the ramifications, consider the violations, all deivered with the smiling face and the assurance of convenience from a post 911 govermnent intending to track everyone. They are making lists, they are interested. Through some simple data gathering from various sources, such as you opal card, your debit/credit transactions, the beeping device that pays motorway tolls, and your ISP's data logs, yu are not safe. Delete your cookies, browse anonymously, it makes absolutely no difference. Here's an example of secondary tracing that is used; chances are your browser configuration is total unique, and it only takes a single cross referencing to your last online transaction to nail your identity to your browser. https://panopticlick.eff.org/ Soon a combination of your plastic cards communicating through your cell phone, or in the case of GPS disabled devices, a network of close range receiver stations all across city and suburban areas, will be able to know where yu are within 30 minutes of any given time. The only solution is to migrate to regional areas, and will be soon creating a safe haven community in central new south wales for free spirited, creative members to live haroniously and outside of the watchful eye of the government. There are 13 of us who use an asian property as our base of activist operations, practicing small scale agriculture and being self sufficient, without a requirement of town utilities, and source less thn 20% of all goods from external sources. And of all places this is in Myanmar, a country assumed to be a totalitarian police state. We also exist as a haven for exiled prisoners of conciousness who are being traced by the international agencies for dissemination of the truth. All the while this international liberty invader is getting stronger. Be alarmed, be aware, and act accordingly. They are going so far as to have their own misistry of misinformation, filling the internet shock/tabloid site with conspiract theories so ridiculous, that when genuine conspiracies are incovered the general public dismiss them as yet another tinfoil hat paranoid UFO chaser. They are destabilising the truth by creating such inane lies. The 'false flag operation' story was one such propaganda peice. Absolutely impausible and only fostered a public perception that internet theories are not to be relied upon. Ie; they are burying the seekers and disseminators of truth. A more plausible likelyhood is that the destroyed Malaysian Airlines plane over the Ukraine was in fact shot don by CIA supported operatives. The pointless war in Iraq is all but finished, the scary monster bin Laden is dead, and the US economy needs a new war to invest in. War is big business. Why not stir tensions between Russia and Ukraine.... they won't care which side they fund, heck they will be funding both sides. ka ching. It's all arms dollars and it's all campaign donations. All thw while the truth is being suppressed not ony by the agencis, but the followers caught up in the propaganda, the innocent lemmings who will edit, suppress and censor that while is considerd too contoversial. Welcome to the machine.
