What did you do in your sacred garden today?
Demonpigeon replied to theuserformallyknownasd00d's topic in Ethnobotany
This week I've given away two Salvia and reduced my plantation a little, though I think I still have at least 20 viable plants. It was nice to find people who wanted them. I need to stop trimming branches, I have no where left to grow them, guess I'll have to start drying them for smoking instead. Does anyone want one? I have plenty I could try to post. -

i'm really glad to hear that, when I google-imaged "bobcat" to see what they looked like I was really sad to see pictures of people hunting bobcats :-( It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't posing and smiling. -
I'm british, grew up in England, still live here for now though I fancy moving somewhere else, family wise... maybe a bit of german jew but pretty much entirely from England Some of you might be interested to know my family name is "Hobart" :-P Oh and I heard a fun Australian joke, why do so many australians work in the UK? Because they always return to the scene of the crime

I just found two of my B. Caapi seeds had germinated :-) Hoping they establish well. I've also just rooted a blosser so I have two of those now and 4 rooted Bunnell plants. If anyone wants a free Bunnel (Wasson Hoffman) Salvia Divinorum cutting and lives somewhere where I'm allowed to post you one, let me know :-) -

Checked my cactus count, because I know recently I've lost a few of the weaker peyote seedlings, not sure why they just went a yellowish colour or suddenly died. I still have 37 seedlings so I can lose some without feeling it to much. it may have been the decrease in temp here (even indoors britain can get quite chilly), it might have been me not being able to leave my lights on where I live now (meaning they're now experiencing a shortening day) or it may be pests :-S Most of the rest of my peyote seedlings look fine :-) My Salvia are all doing well, my blosser especially is rooting heavily and going really tall :-), my original Bunnell is turning into a bush, it's clone is doing well too :-) The Baobab seedling is doing ok, a few weeks ago it had a bit of an infection so I had to prune that part off, it's come back really strongly and is branching lots, something about the way it grows looks so weird to me. Just ordered some B. Caapi seeds and team why is generously sending me some P. Viridis leaves so I'm really excited to see when they arrive in the post. It'd be a laugh to try to train B. Caapi around Psychotria, Ayahuasca in one pot ;-) -
Help With Psychotria Viridis leaf cuttings?

Yeah but it's just been getting crappier looking so I'd not got much hope by this point :-P there were no roots, it's totally bare, I put it back in though -
Help With Psychotria Viridis leaf cuttings?
Demonpigeon replied to Demonpigeon's topic in Ethnobotany
I lost the lead for my camera eventually I realised I could just pop the leaf on my scanner. -
I bought a P. Viridis leaf and followed the instructions (snap vein, wrap in paper, place in humidity dome) but the areas around the snap points are browning up, is that meant to happen? Do I still have any chance of rooting? The leaf arrived slightly yellowed with no petiole and not in the healthiest looking state so if this thing isn't going to root I'd rather complain now instead of two weeks when I just have a pile of mould and it'll cost me £4 + P&P to order a new one. I'll try and get some pictures to put up :-/

Help making a grow box for B. caapi & P. viridis
Demonpigeon replied to 3lliot's topic in Ethnobotany
Awesome :-) And I think I found the other answers, 5.5-6.5 pH for B. Caapi and I think P. Viridis is about the same :-) and spirit garden ethanobotanicals is aparently about to get seeds in :-) -

One other question I should have asked (I may now have found some seeds btw ) Does B. Caapi have distinct genders? -
Help making a grow box for B. caapi & P. viridis
Demonpigeon replied to 3lliot's topic in Ethnobotany
I hope this is a good place to ask. I thought I might add B. Caapi and P. Viridis to my Salvia box seeing as they're all undercanopy plants that natively grow in the Oaxacan Cloud Forest (And I found some cheap P. Viridis leaves for cuttings ). I think the humidity, heat and light should be ok, but I have two questions: 1) What sort of pH do Caapi/Viridis need? 2) Does anywhere still stock B. Caapi seeds? -

Basically a few months back the government asked it's scientific advisors if it was harmful, they were advised it had no evidence of any real harm, so they banned it apparently "incase it funds terrorism" or "because of potential harm that it may cause in future", Basically none of it made any real sence, the whole thing was monsterous. It's now an illegal drug and growing it is now to be met with the same punishments as Ketamine production :-( Cannabis is "B" so it's a classification level above Khat but usually cannabis is treated as a "C" anyway. We have two harmless plant substances which are considered as bad as people snorting horse tranquiliser. The ban happened so fast most people didn't even notice it, pretty much no one here knows what Khat is except for ethanobotanists, Anti-prohibitionists and Somali immigrants. British Somali's are used to being descriminated against as "pirates" now they're also being treated as terrorists, and druggies at the same time, I really feel pretty sick with the way we treat some people here. -

I love pictures of Khat/Qat, I've never used any but it's such a beautiful looking plant, it's a total travesty that they listed it as class C here but that's what happens when you mix media scaremongering with a distrust of immigrant communities and a tough-on-drugs government who're losing allies in the drug war as fast as they're losing the war. Last night I gave my salvia a big new pot and bigger new box to stay moist in. I actually planted it with the main stems almost sideways to spead it better in the area it has and give It more room to grow upward. In the last 20 hours it's dropped a couple of smaller leaves and the younger stems have already bent 90 degrees upwards it's like light direction doesn't matter to it! It's even lit from the side and doesn't seem to care!
