I see my last post didnt survive the forum update, so I'll just say, try stainless steel wire before you quit completely. It can be used in both TC and regular power modes, imho it's so much better than kanthal in every way. Many people have some kind of nickel allergy, and there is plenty of nickel in kanthal. You tried everything except different kind of heating metal. 28 or 26 g 316L stainless steel wire should be a good start. -
Chavin de huantar clone..........pachanoi????
Berengar replied to Philocacti's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Aren't there some theories that 'pachanoi' was developed by humans as a high-alkaloid, spineless cultivar from a wild peruvianus? In that case, it wouldn't be like a hybrid between H. sapiens and H. neanderthalensis, more like a 'hybrid' between a wild boar and a feral pig... I have to admit, I'm fully in favor of the 'one species' theory... -
Cactus Hybrids from Interbeing's garden
Berengar replied to mysubtleascention's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Pachanoi 'Fields' X pasacana. One of my absolute favourites. Got another one of these variegated. Pachanoi 'Fields' X Roseii #1. Another beauty. I have another one of Interbeing's crosses that I love, bridgesii 'Ben' X macrogonus 'Fields, blue, spiny and absolutely beautiful, but it's in another location, I'll take a photo of it when I get the chance. -

Olive, your unknowns are a Psathyrella species. -
Was thinking that as well, I would be really surprised if this wasn't a hybrid. Still an awesome plant tough. I received some seeds from this plant crossed with scopulicola and yowie from another member last year, a couple of them are a few cm now grafted and getting ready for this growing season. The interesting thing is, xYowie has very short spines, especially for a plant that young, while the xScop has very long centrals. I can't wait to see what they'll grow into. Btw, amazing plants and fruits Zed!

Now that's what I call a tricho peruv crest !
Berengar replied to sagiXsagi's topic in Cacti & Succulents
They did not say they would send a different plant. The plant you get is the one in the pictures. They just put that into the description of every plant listing to cover their asses if the colour or whatever of the one in the photographs is slightly different. -
Dchiw your newly elected minister of science and education is a creationist, the minister of culture is a holocaust denier, deputy prime minister is a clerofascist, and the prime minister doesn't speak the language of the country he's in charge of... And you thought your Australian politicians were bad...

Yes, it is called etiolation, caused by insufficient lighting.

Is there any possible way this is not a T. Pachanoi?
Berengar replied to Quixote's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
It is a pachanoi beyond a shadow of a doubt, the girl just didn't want to be implicated in selling an illegal drug. They would definitely much rather sell it to some old woman who thinks it's pretty than to someone who knows what it is and would abuse it in some illegal way. I'm sure I would have done the same, adamantly deny it was a pachanoi even if I knew it was one. -

/pa: hæˈnɔɪ/ Or, if you don't know IPA, something like Pa-Hanoi (as in the Vietnamese city). -

Yeah, that's just translated with google translate, what they mean to say is that the plant may look slightly different than the picture. -

.......................................................
Berengar replied to Maxuel Powers III's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
How much are they asking for it, if it's not a secret? I'm just wondering because I have a bunch of albino and variegeted Trichs (I don't intend to sell any of them, but am still curious). -
I don't want to derail this thread any further, but in short, yeah, very little to no enthusiasm, excitement, compassion, joy or sadness. And I love it that way. I do feel the occasional burst of emotion, but I calm it down quickly.

Well, as far as a 'normal' human can be. Borderline sociopath in that regard, according to a student psychiatrist. But not so much in other characteristics. They said I'm fine and not an immediate danger to society.

Okay, fair enough, point taken. Still, my rational side cannot easily accept that my destiny is determined by the position of the stars at the moment of my birth. And I admit that all the charlatans who tell the 'fates' to gullible people and charge ridiculous amounts of money have made astrology even more repellent to me.

So as a Pisces, I'm supposed to be a sensitive, compassionate and sentimental dreamer. While in reality I'm introverted, extremely rational and emotionless (perhaps heartless even), a typical INTJ. I think I'd trust Jung over astrology any day, no offense.

Haha, this is awesome! Thanks Sagi! Yup.
