TRICHOCEREUS: THE SAN PEDRO GROUP - Crowdfunding Sales Thread
Berengar replied to Evil Genius's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Congratulations EG! I'm sure it's an amazing book with lots of wonderful photographs, and I can't even imagine how much work and dedication went into it. I'll have to wait for the digital edition, sometimes it sucks living in a (very) poor country...- 106 replies

preserving that tip ! - what are your fave blades for extra thick tricho grafting repairs
Berengar replied to ☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ's topic in Cacti & Succulents
You place the cactus on a styrofoam block horizontally so that the cut will be as straight as possible. And I like to use styrofoam specifically so that the spines don't get damaged. -

Rosle chef's knife sharpened with an agate sharpening stone. One decisive slice on a styrofoam block and you have a perfectly flat surface. -
EG´s Kickass Trichocereus Giveaway Thread! Pics please!
Berengar replied to Evil Genius's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I have nothing to show, I've been absent for the much of the last 3 months and most grafts succumbed to molds and winter in general. A few survived, and most of the seedlings survived as well (the second batch), so I'll hopefully be able to graft some more and show a couple nice semi-mature looking beautiful peruvianoids at the end of summer! Congratulations Change!!- 161 replies

If you ever go to Europe, visit one of the small-town Catholic churches. No singing there at all! Just hours upon hours of judgemental hate speech. Ahhh, bliss.

Columnar Flower Buds. Got some ? Post them here.

What's that zelly? Looks very pretty. -
Seems like another win for the 'Witnesses'... Many a youngster started their cultist path thinking they'd join as a joke and knock some sense into a zealot or bone a hot cultist chick.

The ones in the first post are Panaeolus antillarum and Polyporus arcularius, the one growing in the wood chips is Volvopluteus gloiocephalus, the next two are Auricularia sp. and Trametes versicolor, and the yellow trio are Leucocoprinus birnbaumii (beautiful picture btw!).
-
Those pictures aren't enough to tell anything, we need to see the underside and spore print if possible. But they look like they could be a Lepiota species, some of which contain amatoxins and are lethally toxic.
-
If you see any brown at all, then it's P. foenisecii.
-
Panaeolus sp., probably P. foenisecii, but could be some of the psilocybin containing species. Do a spore print and let it dry for a few hours, then check the colour.

can/should you take prints of mushrooms as they grow?
Berengar replied to drpotato's topic in Mycology
That makes very little sense. It's extremely impractical, and the mushroom has a set amount of spores on the basidia, which mature all about at the same time. So a properly taken spore print should contain most of the spores produced by that fruiting body. -
Very cool spination for a bridgesii!

o's mushroom hunting adventures - 2016 - and maybe other things fungi related.....
Berengar replied to spooge's topic in Mycology
Your last one is Leucoagaricus leucothites. -
Yup, what Zed said. I wanted to say exactly that. I can see why you'd think Lepidella, but it's some kind of Macrolepiota/Lepiota.
-
Id's please, 2 playground wood chip numbers
Berengar replied to AbleKay's question in Fungus Identification
Cool finds! First one is an Agaricus, perhaps A. moelleri. This second one I'm not too sure of. It's most likely a Pluteus sp., but I can't tell which one. Maybe even a dried out Volvopluteus gloiocephalus. I'd bneed to see the base of the stipe to be sure. Did you notice, was it growing out of an 'egg'? -
Can you re strerilize grainjars after a contamination
Berengar replied to Bigred's topic in Mycology
I've never reused moldy grain either, but the fact is it can be done if you need or want to for some reason. Water content can be a problem, yeah, but if they've been sitting for two weeks or less, they should be fine. Injecting a few ml's of water also couldn't hurt, probably. -
Can you re strerilize grainjars after a contamination
Berengar replied to Bigred's topic in Mycology
Yeah, sure. I'm sure most people will tell you not to do that, but you can. The molds and spores will be completely destroyed, the only question is how much of the nutrients from the grain have been depleted, and that depends on how extensive the contamination was. -
Always glad to help! No idea, sorry, I'm not from Australia. I don't know any good English language mycology books either. I'm sure someone else will be able to help you with that.

Well, there are no toxic Panaeolus if you don't count psilocybin as a toxin (which I do BTW). You can't generalize, there are at least a dozen different potentially lethal mycotoxins, all with different mechanisms of action and LD50s.
-
Panaeolus cyanescens. All Panaeolus have black spore prints btw. The second one is a giant puffball, Calvatia gigantea.

Panaeolus antillarum and a Chlorophyllum sp.
