    Crest from a TBM

Hello All After 5 or more years of growing Cacti one of my TBMs has sprouted a new pup unlike any before. A couple of question: Should I think about grafting Is this common Can I force this to occur Should I try to grow it on its own roots I'll put up some other photos for help with identification. If people in WA are interested I have heaps or Trichocereus Pachanoi and TBM for sale. Maybe even a few large buttons ;-). Wishing all my fellow growers. Kind Regards Pie

    Pimento and Incognito's ban

Pimento is about the greatest guy I have met on this site. He is honest, thoughtful and genuine. It would be a detriment to both the site and other members if we were to lose him. We all have our own thoughts and methods for releasing them but isn't that the point of a forum? Hope this gets sorted amicably and we can all progress forward.

    Bali Magic Mushrooms

You can buy anything in Bali. But one day the pay off from the police for a druggy whitey will be higher than your payment for "insert drug here:" and they'll hand your ass over. If your going to get anything use it quick and never ever keep anything in your hotel room (or strapped to your body like an asshole). Omelette's sound super tasty, just eat them onsite.

  13. A widely available chemical. Just another reminder that you should always know what is going into your body. This is showing up in pre-workout drinks and other blends. "Eight weeks after DMBA injection, 16 rats presented at least 1 breast tumor (80%). After 13 weeks, all of them (100%) developed breast carcinomas" a really nasty chemical http://www.nsf.org/newsroom/unapproved-synthetic-stimulant-dmba-found-in-multiple-dietary-supplements/ Researchers from global public health organization NSF International, Harvard Medical School and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands (RIVM) have found an unapproved synthetic stimulant - 1,3-Dimethylbutylamine or DMBA – in 12 over-the-counter dietary supplements. The findings were published in the peer-reviewed journal Drug Testing and Analysis. This is an important finding, as DMBA is chemically similar to other harmful stimulants such as DMAA, which was banned by regulatory agencies in the US, UK, The Netherlands, Brazil and elsewhere because of its links to negative health events such as strokes, heart failure and sudden death. There are no known safety studies on DMBA and its health effects are entirely unknown. “While regulatory authorities work to remove harmful stimulants such as ephedrine and DMAA from supplements, new synthetic stimulants such as DMBA continue to crop up to take their place,” said NSF International Senior Research Scientist John Travis. “Without proper studies, the health impact of this new stimulant is entirely unknown. We urge manufacturers, distributors, retailers and regulators to work together to remove this unapproved stimulant from the marketplace to help protect consumers from potentially harmful health effects.” http://tpx.sagepub.com/content/33/6/726.full In female FVB mice given 6 doses of 1 mg of DMBA by weekly gavage beginning at 5 weeks of age, all of the mice developed tumors by 34 weeks of age http://cancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/31/12/1951.full.pdf Eight weeks after DMBA injection, 16 rats presented at least 1 breast tumor (80%). Cut off that Tip!

Hey Guys As I am often more of a lurker I thought for a change I'd share my experience with cutting Columns. I have always kind of felt bad about taking a knife to my plants. But for various reasons from scarring to etiolation cutting the plant can be the best thing. I always thoroughly clean my knives, first scrubbed and then wiped with isopropyl alcohol (re-wiped between each cut). When selecting a location I angle between two levels of areoles I find that they pup quickest when cut near the spines. I used to use Dusting Sulphur on all fresh cuts but I am now leaving them be. Here are a few pictures of some Trichcoereus Pachanoi which broke during a house move 10 weeks ago, it really shows how quickly they recover. The pups are about 5 weeks old ATM. So if you have some tips looking like these! Cut them off. Peace Pie

    Cut off that Tip!

Generally no these plants behaved like this due etiolation which occurs when the light levels are too low. I often have this issue when rooting new cuttings. These plants have now been in direct sunlight for a few months so they should won't stretch to find the sun anymore. The pups should come out nice a fat and within 4-8 months be 75% as wide as the base. Single pups always grow fastest and when I have more than three one will often cease growing and let the others take over. Happy to post some pictures of the first pups when they arrive. Yeah they are definitely hardcore I had a soft tip from a mail delivery (black spots and all) and decided to see if I was right to remove it. After just sitting on top of some dirt it had pupped and even rooted. It wasn't a top performer but I was just amazed at its will to live.
  22. Hey People I have had these two for some time and have never known what they are. Thanks for the help. 1. Semi Monstrose/Melted Wax Bridgesii?? 2. Short Spined??
