Xmas tree cactus ....is that Opuntia Subulata Monstrose?
or something else?
and the virus.........is that a virus or a transposon ?
Either way it a cool idea to encourage pupping...............
Opuntia Subulata Monstrose is also known as Christmas tree cactus
My caesp seedlings already pup from every areole when I graft them. But it'd be interesting to do it with a normal one just to be sure that the virus actually spread to the scion.
That makes sense, I am now definitely not going to graft a caestiposae to it, Cheers
I think It is infected by a bacteria Phytoplasma (wiki: specialised bacteria that are obligate parasites of plant phloem tissue) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoplasma

Good idea, i was thinking if i should graft a loph seedling onto it. It is caespitosa so it should shit out pups from every areole.

I wanted to try this, i saw someone else do it on the internet once but i could only find one person who had done it.
So I grafted Pereskiopsis onto Austrocylindropuntia subulata f. monstrosa, hopefully they will survive.
One of the grafts was an aerole grafting type one and i used super glue to try to hold it in place.- 1

I bought a pereskiopsis porteri off someone on ebay (for the sake of having a slightly different pereskiopsis), hasn't come in yet but i planning on all sorts of nasty stuff to my pereskiopsis to make them mutate.

Weeding with those spikes! Careful friend-o, guinea pigs are natures lawn mowers

Just Kanna.
I was really driven for awhile. I ordered some seeds from overseas which got confiscated. It started a defiant obsession to get kanna and defeat authority.
Is Kanna illegal in Australia?

didn't know they came in such variety

I doubt it would make it through customs seeing as it's in US and that it's an opuntia, but you never know.
sometimes they send you an invoice on paypal after u win the auction, for the permit so they can get it through. But i'm not too sure

I've been looking for some radiation, all i can get my hands on are Americum-241, found in smoke detectors. And this type of material only emits alpha radiation and a bit of gamma, so i will have to have it real close to it. Anyone know where to get radioactive material from?
Thanks for the post woof woof woof* -
Sorry it took so long... been so busy with other projects. I'll update this with new growth here in a couple days once we hit the 4 week mark.

Is this guy serious? This 'Sunburst' Variegated cactus looks fantastic, it reminds me of a chimera, but does anyone here reckon it is worth that much?

Holyyy Shit that is huge, i would call that a safety hazard if i had that growing in my backyard, don't want 500-600kg of spikes cactus falling on me lol,
if you are going to go through all the effort of transporting it then you might aswell go through the effort of digging it out and keeping the roots intact as opposed to cutting it.
Look for some tree removal specialist, i found these guys located in Melbourne, if you giveem a call please let us know how much they charge
