    Herb grinders?

Maybe I should fork out $500 for one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTOMATIC-CONTINUOUS-HAMMER-DESK-TOP-MILL-HERB-GRINDER-PULVERIZER-15KG-H-OH6I-/351711275592?hash=item51e3a02a48:g:5SEAAOSwubRXFTH0 If only I had that sort of money just kicking around...

    Herb grinders?

Nar, I've tried coffee grinders before. Not powerful enough for the kind of herbs I'm talking about. The nutribullet looks like just a big blender, so I'm a bit skeptical. I've tried a good food processor too, the herbs just got lodged in the blades and started melting the plastic of the blender as they scraped around the edges >___> A cheap blender definitely wouldn't work, though.

    Brugmansias - growing conditions, tips?

Thanks for the tips Glaukus. I've been watering them a lot and they're looking lively. I'll definitely plant them when my living situation's a bit more stable!
  4. Hey folks. I recently picked up some rooted brug cuttings for the first time. I'm wondering if anyone's got any advice to help them do well? Anything specific I should do with the soil? Would they appreciate living in a greenhouse?
  5. In my experience trigger points are more useful for concentrated problem localized to specific regions, like sports injuries or tension knots from repetitive overuse of a muscle group. Myofascial release and trigger point therapy are kind of like the heavy artillery of massage. I find having my generalized tension smoothed out a bit with gentle massage is more productive and effective than going at it with such aggressive techniques.
  6. I'm skeptical of the article in the original post because they've conflated "central sensitization" with "chronic pain". It's very typical of articles about journal research to completely miss the point or exaggerate the results. I tried looking for the original research but had difficulty turning anything up without its title mentioned anywhere. I've tried low dose naltrexone personally for my fibromyalgia to no effect. Very gentle massage helps for me, but anything more than that worsens my fatigue. Myofascial release for me is too strong of a treatment, and ends up creating more pain than it relieves... although it loosens things up and helps with mobility. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you here regarding THC and SSRIs. And NSAIDs do more harm than good. Meditation and gentle exercise seem to provide modest temporary relief. I do have a suspicion that my deeply buried underlying grievances with the direction the modern world is moving in has something to do with my condition... Actually, it's worth mentioning that the only thing that has provided me complete pain relief for any amount of time is MDMA. I suppose that at such times not only was I able to be at peace with the world, but my brain was also filled with serotonin. I don't fully understand the actions of that particular substance, though. What other implications might this have?

I'm wondering if the heat generation from the composting hay bales might double as a way to increase the temperature of a green house, while simultaneously providing something for your plants to grow in.

    Incarvillateine- stronger analgesic than morphine

if you ditch the coffee for some ginseng tea you'll solve the problem, improve your health, and have real energy throughout the day instead of false energy borrowed from later

    Hayfever remedies

as soon as you head indoors, wash the pollen off your hands and face. it makes a huge difference. ma huang (ephedra) was mentioned - chinese medicine says you should steer clear of it for hayfever. hayfever's considered a hot-natured condition, so it should be treated with cool medicinals. ma huang is one of the hottest herbs we have, so it's likely to exacerbate symptoms if used incorrectly. try a tea with sage, peppermint, chrysanthemum, and goji berries instead. should help clear the hayfever and treat the accompanying feverishness, sore throat, and dry eyes. add a bit of crushed magnolia bud as well if you have it to help open the sinuses, but you don't need much of this and it isn't entirely necessary. in a pinch, plain old peppermint tea is usually adequate - along with my above advice to wash off the pollen.

    Incarvillateine- stronger analgesic than morphine

Huh? Tou Gu Cao is Caulis Impatientis, Caulis Speranskiae Tuberculata, or Caulis Leptostachya. I couldn't find any reference to any species of Incarvillea in my Chinese medicine resources. Our primary analgesic herb is Yan Hu Sou, Corydalis rhizome, which is soaked in vinegar and then fried to amplify its painkilling effect when decocted.

    TPP Deal is Reached

Seeing as this isn't getting many responses, I suppose some information is needed. Here's the best summary of the TPP that I've seen so far, courtesy of /u/thimblefullofdespair on reddit: Intellectual property concerns were also confirmed today. This affects Health, "WikiLeaks Publication of Complete, Final TPP Intellectual Property Text Confirms Pact Would Raise Costs, Put Medicines Out of Reach" http://www.citizen.org/pressroom/pressroomredirect.cfm?ID=5662 "“These final TPP rules would lengthen, strengthen and broaden special patent and data protections, which pharmaceutical companies use to delay generic competition and keep drug prices high,” said Maybarduk." Technology, "The Final Leaked TPP Text is All That We Feared" https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/10/final-leaked-tpp-text-all-we-feared "There is nothing in here for users and innovators to support, and much for us to fear—the ratcheting up of the copyright term across the Pacific rim, the punitive sanctions for DRM circumvention, and the full frontal attack on hackers and journalists in the trade secrets provision, just to mention three." And more https://wikileaks.org/tpp-ip3/ If you aren't already contacting your representatives to prevent Australia from signing onto this deal, you should be. This deal affects trade, the environment, healthcare costs, internet freedom, copyright, and more in a way that benefits nobody except the big corporations that are running our countries from behind the curtains.

Anyone else vaping or using ecigs/ejuice? Lets talk :)

i'm using an all-in-one package from social-lites (ordered via their UK site for the inclusion of nicotine), which is pretty much a portable battery pack that looks like a cigarette deck which charges the e-cig unit on the go, and has storage slots for refills. it's not as customizable as the more advanced kits; i just got this as my first try of e-cigs, to jump right into using it without worrying about the juice at all. they've got a few different flavours available, and there's also the option of a refillable cartridge if i decide to try that at some point. this kit cost me about $80 including shipping. it's not the most advanced set out there, but i'd highly recommend this to anybody who's interested in trying e-cigs without worrying about the technical aspects of it. i get the impression that it's ideal for beginners like myself. the flavor i'm using at the moment is "gold tobacco", which has a nice rich smoky flavour. i've tried caramel as well, which was also great. intend to try chocolate and coffee flavours next time i order refills.

    Ethnobotanical Kefir

Tangentially related; I've been doing some experiments with kombucha, using combinations of chinese herbs alongside a bit of black tea and sugar to make sure the culture still gets the nutrients it needs. At the moment I've got a batch that was based off ginseng which is a good energy kick, but you could probably use entheogens as well...
