    Nexus scale infestation

hi, i've been trying to get a handle on growing psychotoria just incase i manage to get some. one thing i've read is below, it's only from crapapedia but perhaps it is a shelter for nymphs that the ants can use. Foveolae[edit source | editbeta]These are small pockets found on the lower leaf surface near the junction of the secondary (i.e., side) veins with the central vein. They function as shelter for tiny invertebrates such as mites that live on the plant leaf. These mites apparently often are symbiotic with the plant, taking shelter in these structures and eating fungi and herbivorous invertebrates that can damage the leaf. The foveolae (also called domatia) are distinctive for Psychotria viridis and a few related species: They are generally 1.5-5 mm long and 0.5-1 mm wide at the top, conical and tapered to a closed base, open and truncate or variously ornamented at the top, and situated along the sides of the central vein with the opening usually near a secondary vein (Figure 4C). These foveolae vary in shape among different plants (Figure 4C, 4D, 4E, 4F), and in number on individual leaves, and may not even be present on some leaves. Most often each leaf bears at least one pair of foveolae, which may be close to the apex; the foveolae are often more numerous on leaves from vegetative stems than on those from reproductive stems

    times 1st lophs

Hi all, haven't been here for a while. These lophs are 1 year from seed and the media has dried over winter. I've learnt a bit and lost a few, o.k. i lost a lot. I am wondering if i need to wait for them to show signs of wilting before watering at this age or any age or should i just go back to the same care as last growing season? Also i tried grafting a few onto some hylocereus but just ended up with orange mush after about a week. They seemed fine, nice and plump on the graft but turned mushy overnight. Could this be a hygeine issue, poor choice of grafting stock or both? Thanx for any advice people, take it ezy

    times 1st lophs

hi all, some lophs from seed at day 14. i used 2/3 course sand 1/3 perlite and well nuked. i dont have a heat mat so have them under a 15 watt aquarium light, temp stays between 22-28c. they're 3-5 mm high and from day 10 started showing feathers from the tops. 52 of 100 came up but on day 3 i opened the lids ( thought they needed a misting, der ) and killed about half and the rest have either stopped or gone dormant. big leason there. so, a few questions if any1 would be good enough to advise. how long should i leave them in the tubs, is it best to go by age or size? would an adition of organic matter like sifted potting mix have been a good idea? what is a good light/dark cycle? and when should i start feeding them? appolagies for pic quality, still trying to figure out my cam.

NASA's new project crashes and burns.

that final explosion was better than the proverbial smoking pair of boots. honestly though, i can't believe how stagnent the space deal has been for so long. i feel a bit ripped off when i think of how i thought the " future " was gonna be.
