    Rate my setup

Yeah, when you have the luck to have such a great climate, make use of it. And yeah, nice collection. It will be the start of something great.

Not so happy loph - Advice please.

Hi mate, that's a terrible soil for Lophophora. Your buddy needs a mineral soil consisting of stuff like Pumice, Lava and similar minerals. The soil needd to dry lightning fast.
  3. Get a brush and scrub them off carefully, then start treating it with a pesticide like Azamax, Spinosad, Imidacloprid, Pyrethrum,White Oil, Alcohol etc. All of these can cause adverse reactions or burns, so make sure to follow all instructions.

Help to ID these 3 Trich

They make gorgeous stands with hundreds of flowers. Other than this I cannot provide any insight. Discussion of potency isn't allowed, and I don't want to get into trouble with the mod. ;)

Help to ID these 3 Trich

First ones are all PC or PC offspring. The last two are Trichocereus bridgesii. Lovely how spiny this little pup already is.

Help to ID these 3 Trich

Hey mate, happy to look over these. Can you use the forum uploader to upload the pics? It downloads these as zip when I click the links, and it's a bit risky to click unknown zips because there are quite a few viruses that spread like this.

    Are these 'PC' pachanoi?

Impossible to tell with a photo like this. On a very short look I'd say that some of them are definitely PC or PC offspring. The ones at the back have some typical traits, but again, impossible to tell. They need to reach a certain size to be identified reliably.
  11. Main factor is the temperature. The lower the temperature, the less etiolation. With that said, it's not a healthy way to grow plants long term. For a year, no problem. Every year, not good.

    cuzcoensis or peruvianus/cuzco

Yeah, it's definitely not a Trichocereus cuzcoensis. Probably Trichocereus peruvianus of some sort.

    Monstrose ID

Well yeah, that's some Opuntia relative, e.g. Corynopuntia and Cholla. Pretty spiny fuckers.
  14. Hi Guys, this is my first competition and it´s basically my way to say thanks to all my friends here who helped me throughout the years. Either by sending me seeds, positive energy or kept me motivated. You know who you are, so take this as my way of saying thanks. I´ll be giving away some of my seeds. I actually wanted to simply make a give-away thread but I did that so many times that I felt like it may be a good time to try something new. As I´d really like to see some of the plants that will grow out of the seeds, I thought a grafting competition would be a nice way to get that accomplished. What everyone will get to get started: 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Peruvianus from Matucana. This is fresh from 2015 and it´s the seed I have in the Trichocereus seed shop. It´s among the best Trichocereus seeds I ever had and I am so happy about it that I want to share some of them with you guys. This is confirmed Matucana seeds, that produces some of the coolest Trichos ever. Good examples of Matucana Perus are Trichocereus Rosei, Sharxx Blue, and some more. 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Tarmaensis This is Trichocereus Tarmaensis, which is some kind of Cuzcoensis relative and has some amazing long spines and grows into a really impressive plant. 1x 30 seeds Trichocereus Knuthianus This seed probably belongs into the Knuthianus group. That´s all I know and I am really interested to see how it will turn out. 1 x 30 seeds Trichocereus Peruvianus from the Lurin Valley. Well, this is an extremely strong growing form and I can´t wait to see your seedlings. Really rare and some of the best quality seed I ever had. Well cleaned and just very viable. The competition: I will send out 10 packs to some skilled growers on SAB. Everyone who participates should have access to some grafting stocks because the purpose of this competition is to get the coolest grafting until the end of the competition on April the 1st, 2016. The SAB members will vote the most badass pics by liking the posts. The winner is chosen by the most "Likes", though I originally wanted to make it about length. But many men will probably agree that length isn´t everything. As I´d like to see as many successful graftings as possible, I´d prefer if experienced growers participate in this competition but I will definitely not say no to someone that is not really great with grafting and just wants to give it a try. For everyone else I will probably start another giveaway in 6-12 months. Shipping will probably take up to 4 weeks, which is why I chose a longer duration of the competition. But everyone who once sent me seeds and is interested in growing some of them too, let me know. The prize: The winner gets another 300 of the Matucana Peruvianus seeds, 30 viable seeds of Trichocereus Taquimbalensis plus three different bags of my most valuable hybrid seeds. I will also showcase all of the participating plants and winners on Trichocereus.net and the Trichocereus Facebook group to give this competition some exposure. How to participate: Please send me a pm with your complete address, including the name and the country just to make sure I dont send them to the wrong country by accident. Shipping and Labels: I am sending from Germany and want to make sure that everything is correctly labeled for Australian quarantine, which is why I´ve labeled them according to their Import conditions lists: Here and here Trichocereus Tarmaensis . Echinopsis Tarmaensis Trichocereus Knuthianus - Echinopsis Knuthiana Trichocereus Peruvianus - Trichocereus Peruvianus

    What’s causing this ?

It's either cold damage from condensed water, or sun damage. It's on the most exposed spots on the plant (the ribs), so it's almost certainly environmental.
  16. Evil Genius

What is this and how do I treat it?

It's a Scale infection and secondary scarring because of the Scale. Treating the scale with a pesticide should give the plant some time to recover.

    Looking for an ID

Well yeah, Trichocereus peruvianus, most likely Matucana. Reminds me of Rosei 1 or Sharxx blue.
  18. Evil Genius

    Few more to id

First one is a Notocactus/Parodia. Something like N.warasii or N.leninghausii. The other plant is probably a Trichocereus spachianus.

    Cactii Garden

These have great potential. More sun and they will look great. Seen some Trichocereus peruvianus, some Trichocereus bridgesii, one might be PC but hard to tell etc.

    Trichocereus Peruvianus id please

No worries, we've all been there. A good year or sometimes even two are needed to see smythe differences between certain forms and intermediates. Personally, I'm leaning strongly towards Peruvianus here.
  21. Evil Genius

    Trichocereus Peruvianus id please

Too small to give a precise ID, but very likely a Trichocereus peruvianus.
  22. Evil Genius

    Couple of id’s

First one is a Cleistocactus species, but too young to tell which one. Second one is an Echinocereus, probably Echinocereus triglochidatus. Post it when it flowers and I'll verify it.
  23. Evil Genius

    Hey all

Hey mate, great to have you back.
  24. Evil Genius

    Eileen woes

Photos aren't great, but pretty sure the original damage came from splitting up due to watering more than the plant could take in. Fresh air and it should heal fine. If it doesn't post it again.
  25. TRICHOCEREUS: THE SAN PEDRO GROUP - Printed edition Hi guys, it´s my pleasure to announce that I spent the year doing nothing but writing and I am about to release my book TRICHOCEREUS: THE SAN PEDRO GROUP in April or May! The book will have 200+ pages and contains 300-400 photos from habitats and collections worldwide, all the original descriptions (English & Latin) as well as new information and comments about every single species. I dug out hundreds of old cactus books and literature to offer a complete overview about the history of this amazing group of plants. I was lucky enough to get loads and loads of cool pictures. This book will be ALL COLOR! I spent so much time writing and preparing for this book and it´s like a dream come through that I am able to release it now. A lot my SAB friends here helped to get it done. Either by offering photos or by keeping me motivated and I am extremely thankful for everyone who made this possible. There will be a very affordable digital edition and I am also working on a few deals to get it printed. It´s possible that I will send a part of the hard copies to Torsten and SAB to make it easier for the Australian members to get their book fast and without having to import it themselves. The printed edition will be extremely limited and it´s possible that it will sell out very fast. I assume there will probably be around 500 - 1000 books at max. I started a crowdfunding campaign in order to pay for the costs of the printing. The campaign already reached half of its goal within two days and there only is a limited number of books available. If you want to get a copy of my book, you can get it through my campaign on Indiegogo here: Book: Trichocereus: The San Pedro Group
