    Junkie or no?

The term 'Junkie' originally came from the fact that most down and out heroin addicts would collect and recycle cans/metal/rubbish or 'Junk' - in order to earn some money. Very resourceful if you ask me. I also recall a statistic (but can't remember where or when) that said less than 9% of heroin users were your media sensationalised 'sit in the gutter begging for a dollar' type person. The other 90% or so were casual users, weekenders, judges, mothers etc... The term 'Crackhead' now seems to get used a lot for people smoking ice - by association with the crack pipe I would assume. Far worse than heroin IMO In relation to your opening post: I have no problem with Junkies - most are lovely people, they know they have a problem, and they're stuck in a rut. The people I take most offence to are your average judgmental Joe's that spend 100's of hours glued to the television, pump 200kg's a minute at the gym, suck back greasy food and soft drink - and then have the ignorance to say 'look at that junkie over there - how disgusting' - at least a junkie is aware they have a problem.

    Giveaway with a twist

After reading a bit of the link you provided, and with the recent media spate against 'synthetics' I made a poor attempt at saying - The masses will believe anything the media feeds them regardless of truth. The real truth about Port Arthur is so buried it'll never surface, and if it does, people are so conditioned and sceptical of everything, it won't be believed. Carry on, don't mind me... I live in a different world filled with butterflies and rainbows.

    Giveaway with a twist

Nice cactus, but I can't read that site with all the "in absolute scientific terms", "Military Science", "in absolute scientific terms" etc... I'm not sure what happened at Port Arthur, but laterally thinking - are you implying that the poor fellow that died recently from 'synthetic lsd' was pushed?

    giant sunflower competition

Wow - spectacular work. I see you have a bamboo lattice, I've lost 2 to wind so far because they snapped off near the base. All bamboo'd up now but I think I'll add some cross members like yours.
  5. Seems like buying coins just after SR went down would have been a wise investment... ah hindsight...
  6. Sounds like a lot of fun at the very least Sly! I know very little about bitcoins, apart from my friend that used to nail me down at the pub and hammer me with bitcoin talk The variability of the market makes it even more fun IMO, and you might kick yourself in a year if you don't go ahead... Is it possible to use each of the 4 cards individually? As I understand it, a block takes a variable amount of time - as you mentioned, approx. 0.5 to 50 days. It makes more sense to mine multiple blocks in this case than to pump all your power into a single block. Thelma? Are you here - you might be able to work out what's best probability wise - focus on a single block or split across 4 blocks...
  7. Have you considered using FPGA's or ASICS? The power savings would outweigh the initial cost of the device, especially since you're considering solar... https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison Edit: Ah, I see you have 'Bitcoin Mining Card 600 GH/s $4680' - What sort?

New QLD VLAD legislation- not just about 'bikies'

Wow - I didn't vote for this... everyone should be held accountable for their actions, what else is there to mediate the level of force used? Bring out yer dead... the end of the world is nigh...

So will they be closing pharmacies down too? They sell synthetic drugs. How about coffee shops? Energy drink retailers?

Beautiful GT! What was the overall height? Here's the pictures of mine - and the weather has only just picked up here so I'm hoping there's a long way to go for them yet! First lot: Second lot planted 2 weeks later:

    Life After Food - Soylent

I doubt I'd go for a chemical concoction like soylent. I lived for 6-8 weeks or so on Vital Greens, blended fruit, Lentils and herbs/spices. At the 6 week point, I felt the best I've felt in 20 years. The first 2-3 weeks was filled with cravings and withdrawals from unknown chemicals in the food I'd previously been eating. I had a sore jaw from lack of use too. I looked at so many diet/supplements and vital greens won hands down. It tastes very nice and without seeing the ingredients on soylent, I'd hazard a guess VG is better... It is expensive, but it's less than half the cost of eating takeaway food, so it's worth it. Chewing on chunks of food is more satisfying than slurping down a cup of sludge though. Now I do both

    Babies as extra-uterine foetuses.

It seems like your statement of 23% cranial capacity relies on the fact that Cognition is located in the head or brain? If on the other hand, the brain is just an aerial, then 5% or even 1% is still a dodgy signal, but the consciousness that's transmitting could be fully formed, even if the receiver isn't... Cognition and consciousness (even in bacteria) are still complete mysteries in this day and age so anything is possible...

    don't cha hate it when..

So true... I've saved them from the brink of death so many times... these are the first cactus seeds I ever sowed so they're very special to me! I have 3 left - so I guess it just makes those 3 more special.

NSW Government to seize babies of mothers who use drugs

For extreme cases, sure - take the kid into custody, if it can be absolutely, positively and without doubt be shown that the mother or family cannot take care of themselves or the child - but as with every law that gets passed, it gets wider, and wider and wider until babies will be ripped out of their mothers arms for petty cases. Bookmark this link and come back in a few years...

    don't cha hate it when..

DCHIW: You get up an hour early to water and fert all your beautiful plants ready for a nice hot day and you find that 20 out of 23 baby lophs that you'd grown from seed and cared for for 2 years, have been ripped out and eaten by a bird. Then, whilst surveying the damage you notice that the beautiful lophs you purchased from PH all look like they've been savaged with a blunt fork - and one the size of a 10c piece has been completely eaten, roots and all... Thanks for this thread - I didn't want to start a separate thread to complain, and this is a great vent thread!

NSW Government to seize babies of mothers who use drugs

That's disgusting. I nearly vomited when I read that. I find it even more repulsive and hypocritical that alcohol is included in the legislation... the legal drug the government condones. A sip of wine with your dinner and we'll steal your baby... NSW: The Dingo Government

    Garden insect ID thread

I zoomed in and looked at the orange spots with a 100x microscope - I can't post a shot because my camera couldn't focus on the lens. I couldn't see any insect bodies, but rather really fine threads. Rust? I have seen a few little orange spiders around, so that's why I was thinking this was spider mite. These orange spots weren't there 2 weeks ago.

    Giant pumpkin contest!!

Rightyo - I'm in the game, the pumpkin(s) are in the ground, a little bit later than I'd imagined, but hey, better late than never i guess. My sister has just built a 1.5m x 1.5 m floating pontoon, so if I manage to get a vine to reach out to the dam we're good to go for the 'giant pumpkin on the dam' experiment

    Mold in seedling container.

I used to get mould - and green slime, but since I started adding about a level tablespoon of cinnamon in a rectangle take away container thingo like yours, i've had none. The other thing I do, is once that container is sterile and i sprinkle the seeds on, I mist them with a mister that has: 2 cap fulls of 3% peroxide in 250ml water - and I give them about say 5-8 squirts. I find this knocks the seeds into the soil grooves nicely too. Either the cinnamon or the spray has helped, because I've done 20-25 containers since then and there's no mould, slime or anything and the seedlings look great.
