Thanks Rabaelthazar... it kinda reminded me of a flying saucer... the true origin of shrooms for sure! That was my fav too
-
I had some luck today, and what a great day it was for a hunt too These are some of the most beautiful specimens i've seen, there must have been 50-60 all up, some up to 8cm across...
-
A few tasties, albeit dry tasties, but its nice to find something nonetheless!
-
For those in Melbourne, is the season likely to go on much longer? When does it usually come to an end out this way (se suburbs)? Cheers
-
Oh man these all look so mouthwatering! Re the inky/iodine smell.. thats the odd part, there is virtually no smell at all... Is it normally very powerful?
-
Actually, on second take, it does bruise quite yellow... Thank you for the ID, saved me some illness!
-
I had a look at the stem, and there is no yellowing, even when bruised. There are no funny smells... It smells just like a regular field mushroom... Is there any reason they would have a little yellowing? None of the others seemed to have it.
-
Hi folks, Out and about today and found a vast wonderland of these fellows... I'm pretty certain these are horse mushrooms. Anyone able to verify? I have much more experience iding the more blueish variety of fungus Thanks

konakavafarm.com seems pretty good, with excellent prices (far cheaper than the competition)

Nice attitude mate, you'll be helping a lot of people in more ways than one. Respect.

Sorry to upset you your highness. Obviously being such an experienced master you would realise that the number of posts on corroboree does not equal hunting experience. People are often not just asking about whether its possible to find them here, so much as asking if people have had much luck in certain areas purely out of interest. As such not everyone who posts infrequently is ignorant to the growing conditions of our little friends. MELBOURNE + WOODCHIPS does not equal guaranteed success; eltham for example is a great area to hunt as the conditions are perfect, the CBD on the other hand is far less perfect. If you dont want to answer, then dont. If you have a desire to, then dont try to make others feel shit about thier questions, its immature.

Good question soundman, im wondering the same thing too. I moved down here last year but never had to opportunity to go for a hunt.. This year's a different matter though! I would love to know if people have had much success in inner melb, or surrounding subs such as carlton, pascoe vale etc. Any feedback would be great (no specifics of course ;). Obviously cow pats or horse etc are not necessary, so its more a question of eucalypt patches.

Thanks for the info on the mushies guys Ive been doing a bit of reading but cant get much info on them beyond the feedback here and in a shroomery forum, which means a no go. Wont be taking any risks The general consensus it would seem is that they are mycena, which is what ppl on shroomery have said also. Good to know what is around nonetheless. Plus, i wont be needing anything more than the other lovely patch i found! Good luck to all with their hunts. Ill be sure to post some more pics soon also. Thanks again all, Crix.

Under post reply, and file attachments, goto browse and then add attachment. Aside from the other shrooms discovered yesterday, we found a whole heap of what look like p.eucalypta at some good local spots. Taking spore prints

Hey all. After a big hunt today, found these, and was wondering if anyone knew what they were? Lots of blueing on the stems, also on some heads.
